Looks like the Strickland/Jackson contest can begin.

Mongo/Osbourn,

Didn't you send out Member communications to remind Republicans to vote? Democrat voters out weighed Republicans by 20,000.

Things are looking up for Hannah-Beth Jackson.

Ventura County Popular vote

Dems 88,000
Rep 68,000

Santa Barbara County Popular Vote

Dems 53,000
Rep 36,000

Looks like out next SD 19 Senator will be a Democrat. Congratulations to the VCRCC for turning off DTS voters.

Strickland/Jackson contest? Looks like B. forgot about the Primary in June.

The GOP in VC is in shambles thanks to the VCRCC! Looks like Hannah-Beth Jackson will be kicking the heck out of Tony the Pussycat Strickland! Strickland backed Romney bigtime and Romney lost bigtime! Romney did not even carry VC! The dems are excited and the republicans are all trying to get registration forms to become dems!People are tired of getting ripped off at the pump because of the republicans and tired of watching our national debt soar and watching jobs go to Asia. The Indian tribes are all laughing today because they pulled a fast one with props 94-97 and they know that they are the only one's who will do well off of this. Mark Macaro the big chief got in the back of his limo last night and opened a bottle of Dom and lit a cigar with a $100 bill and laughed and said "Suckers!"

Voters wanted tax revenue for California. Non-gaming tribes in California needed revenue from sources other than the U.S. government. Several gaming tribes found a way to provide that by an agreement with the citizens of this state while taking care of their own.

Sounds like free enterprise to me!

If you do not like it, hop in your camper with wife and kids and drop your next mortgage payment at a family-friendly casino somewhere across the Nevada county line.

I did not forget the primary in June but being that so far there is only one Democrats and one Republican running I think it is pretty clear who the nominees will be.

Do you know something different?

Strickland not running seems as likely as Huckabee being the nominee!

I was surprised the Native American casino propositions won with such a large margin. I thought voters would get sick of voting to expand casinos over and over. But the promise of tax money convinced people.

Word in Sacramento is that there is a poison pill surprise that is going to be delivered to Jackson in this race. Dantona got a sweet deal to drop out and help another moderate candidate with a bigger name in Santa Barbara, to help bury her in this part of the district.

The same people that voted for the "Republican" Indian Gaming initiatives are the same ones that voted for G.W. Bush. Just like earthquakes ignorance has it's aftershocks. Bills that were drafted as part of the Republican takeover of the United States of America.

These slot machines are a tax. A tax directed at a certain segment of the population. The the poor, the elderly, encouraging known addictive behavior with the use of alcohol to cloud the judgement. Family values the Republican way.

I am not saying there should not be gambling or that Native Americans should not be running it. I am saying the growth should not be decided by how much campaign funds the Republicans get.
I don't like the marketing plan. Why not put them where the GOP hangout? Let's come up with ways for them to gamble without using human lives as the chips. Why don't we deploy slot machines to all those Arab nations the Bush family is so friendly with? A slot machine surge!!

Don't ever confuse these bills with nothing more than a way to tax the poor and provide unlimited campaign contributions to Republicans.

Nobody, enough with the bleeding heart rant! Your whole premise seems to be that the poor, downtrodden members of society will all lose because of the passage of these measures. Boo-friggin-hoo!!!

People that gamble have the same personal responsibility as those who choose to drink. They are supposed to exercise self-control, a seemingly forgotten notion these days. Yeah, let's blame all our woes on the government, or the Republicans, or ballot initiatives, so I always have someone else to blame and never have to take responsibility for my own actions.

You're just encouraging this type of behavior, Nobody, with your pushing the buck attitude. Man up, dude!!!

Nobody. I am a Democrat. I loathe GW. I voted for Indian gaming. Stop lumping us into one homogeneous group. You and I agree on many issues and disagree on others. Somebody and I are in agreement:

"People that gamble have the same personal responsibility as those who choose to drink. They are supposed to exercise self-control, a seemingly forgotten notion these days."

It is time for people to take responsibility for themselves and allow Indians to do the same via casinos, ar another beneficial line of work if they choose.

You dislike Strickland? I dislike Strickland. Vote him out and let's move on shall we?

Seems like voters didn't want term limits touched because of the current leadership. But it is sad that voters cannot vote for McClintock. None of the arguments that are made for term limits apply to him as much as they do the current senate and assembly leadership.

Did I just read a Republican telling someone to take responsibility?! LOL!! Do you know how foolish that sounds? What does a Republican know about taking responsibility? Bubba Kidd must have called his lobbyists to come up with that one.

Indian gaming isn't going to fix anything except the next election. The State of California has no problem finding ways to waste money.

What do you think California does to waste money? Education? Prisons? Health for poor people?

Where is the waste?

"None of the arguments that are made for term limits apply to him as much as they do the current senate and assembly leadership."

I take that to mean you approve of completely ineffectual leadership.

The VC rep. better come up with a better option than Tony. There is np way in H-E- double toothpicks this ramora can win. Find a candidate we can stand with and not feel like an Amsterdam whore.

They don't call it the "red" light district for nothing.

I'll see you turkeys at the victory party in T.O. in November.

Look for Tony to broaden his spectrum of appeal a bit in this race. He's going to need to speak to some of the broader issues (like the environment, economic issues, housing affordability, homelessnes, etc.) this time around. It's going to be a different kind of race with the make-up of the district having changed quite a bit over the past few years.

His broader issue should be to tell us about the last time, which would be the first time, he was a productive member of society. This guy is truly a ramora sucking off the public dole. This is not a public servant but a sucking chest wound.

He isn't going to talk about homelessness.

He also isn't going to talk about the environment.

He has made a life in politics without mentioning these issues and have tried to elect people that run away from them.

Bubba and Mongo are nothing but degenerate hacks for Reps and give them a bad name. Their opinions are always loaded on this blog, and therefore, should be disregarded...

and burned to sanitize Brian's site.

Nice try, Laura, we all know this was your post. You're the hack. Always have and always will be...

What's the matter Mongo, seeing me around every corner? As usual, you're one way wrongo mongo. Not the part about me being a hack. Heck, from you I take that as a compliment.

But that isn't my post. In fact, I get credit for many posts that aren't mine. But what the heck, I'm up for re-election in June, so keep on saying my name.

I linked a little something retro in your honor. 1986 - the year of bad government and bad hair bands. Though I think they might be playing a Gibson or two. Kinda ironic, no?

Getting insulted by lefties on this blog is a badge of honor. Mongo and I must be saying something right in order to get all this attention.

As they say, "bad attention is better than no attention," right BK and Mongo?

You said it. Better to be notorious than irrelevant.

Great article on the front page of today's paper regarding the fall of the GOP. The guy pegged what is wrong with the current party. Every Republican should read it. I think he is 100% accurate. Ron Nehring has been a disaster.

When Ron Nehring was running for CRP Vice Chairman, I was being courted behind the scenes to run against him. He is and was disliked by many California Republicans.

However, I can count votes, and even with the large dollars I was told I would receive to run a campaign, I knew that the membership of the CRP (roughly 1500 members) was controlled by the far right and there would be no reasoning with them. They are not interested in expanding the party. If they say they are, they have been miserably ineffectual in doing so.

It is not just Ron Nehring that should take the heat, it is the Executive Committee AND the general membership of the CRP that shares in the blame for supporting current policies and practices.

Here we go again with ongoing saga of the Teague/Cornejo game of "let's denigrate the Republican Party". Why don't two give it a rest? You're not doing anything constructive to rebuild the Party, except for your negative diatribes. Get off your pitty-potties for a change and try and make a positive contribution!

Leslie, I think that Ron Nehring should resign along with his Executive Committee. I hate to say it, but Arnold S. has done a bang up job and understands what needs to be done to move California forward.

I'd like to see alot more minorities and women holding office in the Republican party and I don't think that is going to happen under the current leadership or lack thereof.

Mongo, you are very touchy this week.

I'm just saying that many of the wounds the Republicans have are self-inflicted. And I have shouted to the rooftops that I saw this coming and the current administrations (state and county) did not care to listen. And I am saying that if you are on a board, you share the responsibility for the results. Nehring should not solely take the heat for the debacle on the state party.

Four Republicans in my house voted for McCain last week - a woman, a college grad, a college student and a Latin-American immigrant. Would you call that un-Republican?

Leslie, yeah, yeah, you've been shouting it from the rooftops, etc., etc. and nobody listened, blah, blah, blah... This is the same old thing you've been saying for months now and is nothing but an "I told you so" disguised as meaningful discussion. If you're so committed to change, why don't you run for something and try and implement some change, instead of crying all the time on this blog?

If the wounds are not self-inflicted, to what would you attribute the failure of the Republicans? Give me a thoughtful answer.

My thoughts have already been shared with you and my fellow bloggers. I will waste no more time on the likes of you.

Can Bubba and Mongo start their own blog so we can "waste no more time with the likes of" THEM?

People like Leslie, Katie, Marie, Laura, Barbra, Brian, Former Rep. etc make for good intelligent debate. Anytime B & M (appropriate abbreviation) rear their ugly heads, it degenerates into vast "left-wing" conspiracy theories, attacks and counter-attacks.

You guys have no "fellow" bloggers. You have each other and your victimization complexes. Give it - and us - a rest... PLEEEEEASE!

You & Me, I find your opposition to freedom of speech quite interesting. Typical liberal. "I believe in diversity, inclusion, collaboration, and diversity of opinion, unless, of course, it happens to differ with my opinion."

I suggest you give it a rest and stop trying to stifle healthy debate!

You & Me, if you don't like what some bloggers have to say then skip over the posts and don't read it. It's really that easy. But whining about people who have opinions you don't like is silly. This is America, and sometimes there are people who have different points of view. While you may not want me around there are plenty of others who engage in discussions with me on a regular basis, including, dare I say, a few liberals.

Bottom line, you don't have to agree with me or like what I have to say, but in a democracy that is how things work. I agree with Mongo that some liberals are pretty scary in their willingness to shut down dissenting opinion. So much for the party of tolerance and diversity.

Let the democracy begin close to home by opening up local races to more than one Republican at a time. I am speaking specifically of the 19th Senate District and Elton's congressional race. Not happy with hearing how Elton is "our candidate" when it is the first day of registration for the race. We need some healthy debate in our own party before you cast stones at members of the opposing party(s).

The Republicans know it's easier to control a few people than several. They can't have people running around thinking for themselves. The Republicans want people they can control for years like Elton Gallegly and Tony Strickland.
