Linda Parks for _______________

County Supervisor Linda Parks ( R-Thousand Oaks) is going to be all the way up in Santa Barbra for a conference.

Could this be her testing out the chances of her running for higher office? I doubt it for now as County Supervisor is a pretty well paid position that someone can serve long enough to retire from. If you want to see the meeting agenda click on continue reading.

In related Thousand Oaks news the campaign finance reports are coming in over the traffic initiative. If you have more background to fill us in let me know. It so far looks like a battle over big box stores like Home Depot.

Simi Valley does not yet have campaign finance reports available on our city website but Barbra Williamson said she would work on it. Barbra, thanks for checking into it for me. For all those that ridicule the influence of blogs I suggested it here and now Barbra is looking into getting it done. And I didn't even need to attend a meeting.

Brian...it is a "done deal". The City Council approved the request a couple of weeks ago, now all we have to do is put a program together and get it out there. Government is still slow, but we are working on it...

I wish CAUSE would say what it was - a Community Based Organization devoted to union organization.

Are you surprised Linda Parks is helping out if it is as you say devoted to union organization?

Brian, to answer your question - I don't know. I don't Linda Parks or her politics that well.

I don't like her either. She's a liberal Democrat masquerading as a conservative Republican.

Sorry, left out a key word. I don't KNOW Linda Parks or her politics that well. But I don't think that she has ever put herself out there as a "conservative" Republican. Maybe a green Republican but not a conservative Republican.

I have known of Linda Parks as an advocate of mass transit for as long as she has been active in public life. I have seen her at workshops on statewide and regional mass
transit issues sponsored by various groups. As I remember, one of the reasons she was opposed to the VCTC-backed sales tax initiative was that it had too little in terms of mass transit.

Mass transit, especially between the Ventura and Santa Barbara county corridor, is an issue that both Democrats and Republicans need to be working on in a bi-partisan basis.

I see nothing politically opportunistic in Ms. Parks' participation in this forum. She has a long record of supporting mass transit. Improving our transportation system is fiscally sound and improves commerce. I think this is one area we can all agree government should be investing our tax dollars.

In Thousand Oaks we encourage our representatives to educate themselves on issues that affect our quality of life. Transportation is one of those issues so that might explain why she went.
