( Ambassador Joe Wilson at a previous Mary Pallant speaking event)
I have been impressed with Mary Pallant's ability to bring in speakers to Ventura County. Between Mary Pallant, CAPC, and The Reagan Library there are many great events to attend. Go check them out and show support to local organizers.

Here is the announcement...
Mary Pallant's Ventura County Speaker Series Presents...
Bernie Horn - Author of "Framing the Future"
Save the Date:
May 23rd for Speaker and Author, Jeffrey Feldman
Bernie Horn is the policy director at the Center for Policy Alternatives and author of "Framing the Future: How Progressive Values can Win Elections and Influence People.
Bernie takes George Lakoff to task in asking that progressives reject many of the framing issues George has addressed. Bernie states that George utilizes too many neo-con popular phrases and progressives must create their own. Further, if progressives are to move beyond the neo-con definitions they have to frame issues with their own unique language: language intended to promote progressive values, not defend.
"Freedom is the cornerstone of America's value system. And yet, progressives shy away from the word freedom, allowing the right wing to abuse the term as a justification for preemptive war, extrajudicial imprisonment, warrantless searches, corporate giveaways and environmental devastation. Freedom is in danger of becoming a meaningless platitude. It's time to stage a rescue." - Bernie
Bernie's book will be available to purchase and he will be signing following his talk.
Date: Friday, April 11th, 2008
Venue: Oak Park Community Center - 1000 Kanan Rd in Oak Park
Time: 7pm to 9pm
As always, this event is free and open to the public. However, a small $3.00 donation is appreciated to cover venue cost.
See you then!
Mary

Funny how the Jorgensen for Congress campaign claims Daily Kos in their endorsements.
Was there a poll? I use that website and I wasn't asked.
Mary Pallant has done more to organize the grassroots if you ask me.
Hi just cruising by. I am always amazed by the blanket statements that are posted here in the name of authority. Like you really know what goes on. Looks more like kids who believe than can play games with politics.
Thank you for agreeing with me R. Samuels. I think it is wild too that someone can claim to have the endorsement of the DailyKos community but can't back it up. It is odd that their campaign is that sloppy and isn't run by more serious minded people.
When was the endorsement meeting? Did they have a vote? Why didn't I get to vote? Why did they not vote for Mary Pallant?
It is cool we both agree that the Jorgensen campaign shouldn't make blanket statements.
On to their next endorsement. Can nonprofits endorse? I think it is odd they are claiming a nonprofits endorsement. Do you agree too?
The campaign has updated their website. There is often mistakes or arguments over endorsements. For example, many people list their endorsements if they were the nominee in the last election cycle which includes many party leaders. This makes it look like the same leaders are endorsing in the primary.
Jill Martinez has done a good job of showing the difference between the two.
Thank you Mary Pallant for putting together events for progressives in our area.
