GreenWave Energy wins an award

On John McCain's website there is a section of campaign gear you can purchase that have an environmentalist theme to them. Even though some far right critics attacked him for it and said he would not earn green votes for his efforts ( I do know one young environmental activist that is a Republican but the environment is her focus. Being Green keeps people like her from shifting their support to candidates like Barack Obama.) I believe it is a major change in American politics.

It appears as though George W. Bush will be the last anti-environmental president. Republican and Democratic leaders agree that climate change is real and human influenced. They also agree that actions needs to be taken.

( Tony Strickland and Hannah Beth Jackson agree climate change is real and human influenced. Kind of reminds me of this odd couple.)

In our area Tony Strickland is trying to show that he is an environmentally friendly candidate. He has spoken many times about his company, GreenWave Energy Solutions, and their effort and exploring more alternative energy sources.

His critics will attempt to claim the whole thing is a greenwash attempt. That he voted against the policy preferences of all the prominent environmental groups while he was int he state assembly. They also ridicule his company because it doesn't have a product, a profit, or even revenue beyond investment capital.

All of that may or may not be true.

But what is true is more important. The day when environmental protections only came from one party are over. To be an anti-environmentalist isn't going to be effective any longer.

The new debate is over what party has better ideas on the ways in which we provide for our energy security and protect our environment. The battle of ideas has shifted over. Republicans are quickly trying to get green as many of them distance themselves from past policies and statements.

Remember this one from Ronald Regan?

Republicans will not go back to Ronald Reagan's statements that show him at odds with environmentalists, but instead they will argue that their free market solutions will be a better way of protecting the environment.

Democrats will have to make the case that Republicans are not serious in their new found devotion and that their policies will be ineffective. But the middle has shifted and the new debate has been set.

The campaigns locally have already started adapting to this new world. Tony Strickland's campaign sent out a press release touting an award from a political wing apparently of The United Chamber of Commerce to his energy company.

Expect Hannah Beth Jackson's campaign to be critical of his voting record, his plans, and his company. Expect them to be critical of the award. But don't expect the environment to be an issue that only one party attempts to win votes off anymore.

For the Republican Party as a whole it will take more than an election cycle or set of candidates to gain voter trust but they won't be giving up.

Click on continue reading to see the press release about Tony Strickland's Award.

I know Moorpark city council member Keith Millhouse has been a strong advocate of working together to address climate change but has anyone seen a statement that shows where Elton Gallegly stands on the issue?

County Supervisor Peter Foy ( Peter, if you want to clarify and extend your remarks I will post them on the front page) is isolated as a part of the old guard that denies the earth is heating up at all. In the future there will be more Republicans like Arnold Schwarzenegger ( check out the Green theme to his website as he moves beyond the Republican Party), John McCain, Newt Gingrich, and if he is successful Tony Strickland.

Put another point on the scoreboard for Team Strickland.

( Another odd couple that shows working together towards a solution to global warming more than a single party's issue.)

(Thousand Oaks) The United Chamber of Commerce held its annual awards breakfast this past Friday to honor a handful of Southern California businesses, each nominated by their local Chambers. The nominee from the Agoura-Oak Park-Conejo Valley Chamber was local company GreenWave Energy Solutions, an alternative energy company exploring ways to harness the power of the ocean's waves and meet the increasing demand for clean, renewable energy.

GreenWave Energy Solutions was one of only thirteen businesses to receive the award from the United Chamber of Commerce which represents over 21,000 Southern California businesses and provides more than 387,000 jobs.

"GreenWave Energy Solutions is working to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and reduce gas prices, launch a cleaner, smarter energy future for California and I'm proud to be a part of that. Our company is committed to meeting the increasing demands for a cleaner environment and working toward reducing gas prices by providing a smarter, renewable source of energy.", said GreenWave Vice President Tony Strickland.

In addition to the 2008 Small Business Award, GreenWave Energy Solutions also received awards and certificates of recognition from Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the Los Angeles City Council, State Senator George Runner, Assemblymembers Paul Krekorian, Cameron Smyth and Audra Strickland as well as Congressman Brad Sherman.

You're kidding, right? Friends of Strickland give him an "award" for doing nothing and he puts out a press release. What a joke. Maybe he should have worked for a company that drills for oil off the coast of Ventura and Santa Barbara - a project he supports.

Yes indeed. The emperor has no clothes here. The company was only incorporated a year ago, does not develop its own technology, and so far can't even get a permit in California to study putting other people's devices in the water. Their first attempts at permitting were sent back "deficient."

I am sure there are many more deserving companies for this "award" which are actually paying their staff and creating jobs.

But these companies don't have someone on their board who is running for state office.

It's all smoke and mirrors, folks. Oh ... did I say smoke? Sorry, touchy subject these days.

I don't know why I'm still surprised that Villaraigosa is such a whore.

Why should we be surprised that a fraud of a candidate like Tony Strickland receives a fake award from a group that he controls? How much energy has his company produced? None. If you want to create power harness the hot air that blows from Osborn\Bush\Strickland. You won't find anyone who actually cares about the environment giving him donations, that is why all his money comes from big oil, tobacco and gambling.

I can hear the jealousy oozing from your veins. When was the last time Hannah-Beth Jackson won an award for anything except being the single most promoter of government intervention and taxing the bejeezus out of her constituents? She's already been exposeded as a hypocrite and an ineffective legislator. The choice is clear to me.

Just when I thought I could not respect an individual like Tony Strickland any less he proves once again that he is absolutely shameless.

Strickland has absolutely no honor or diginity. The voters of SD 19 better wake up. I am so very ashamed of the Ventura County Republican Party.

I am a true blue Republican at heart who is now a DTS because of the VCRCC. I was raised to be honest and take care of my neighbors and community. My parents taught me to work hard and treat people right. I was taught to not associate with dishonest people because they walk in darkness but to pray that they would see the light that shines through me and my faith.

As a devout Christian I was taught that our purpose on Earth is to bring glory to God not to ourselves.

There are those of us that work tirelessly, volunteering for the less advantaged in our community and donate huge sums of money anonymously.

We don't do these things to pad our resumes so we can look good on a campaign flyer.

I find the VCRCC and the STricklands to be disgusting and despicable, they have sold their souls and their pride.

This would be the last time she won an award:

Jackson Receives Consumer Champion Award

The Consumer Federation of California Honors Hannah-Beth Jackson with 2008 Award

Educator and former Assemblymember for Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties Hannah-Beth Jackson was presented today with the Consumer Federation of California’s 2008 Consumer Champion Award for outstanding work in educating voters about important state legislative matters affecting the rights of consumers. The award was presented in Sacramento at the Federation’s annual legislative reception. Jackson, who served three terms in the Assembly and since then has been teaching college and educating the public on policy issues through the non-profit Speak Out California!, is also a candidate for California State Senate in the 19th District, that includes parts of Ventura, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles Counties.

“The award is recognition for your leadership in raising public awareness about consumer rights, said Richard Holober, President of the Federation, in informing Jackson about the award. As a member of the Assembly, Hannah-Beth Jackson authored the toughest financial privacy legislation in the nation as well as bills that increased protections against identity theft, including the Consumer’s Financial Privacy Act (AB 203), the Financial Privacy Act of 2002 (SB 773), Identity Theft (SB 168) and Drivers’ License: Identity Theft (AB 1474). She is also the author of the Car Buyer’s Legal Equality Act (AB 2656), which protects auto buyers from unknowing waiving consumer rights to a dealer. She writes frequently about consumer issues on her website.

“I am truly honored to receive this award. The Consumer Federation has been in the forefront of the effort to protect consumers in this state through the information they provide and their tireless advocacy,

First off Mongo Flamo I find your name to be repulsive and hurtful to individuals with disabilities.

Mongo is a derogative name for Mongoloid (whether you were aware or not) which individuals with Down Syndrome used to be referred to. The fact that you are so insensitive to use such a name that could be construed as Flaming Retard (which unfortunately many people refer to individuals with developmental delays) is incredibly offensive to me. I have let it pass as ignorance in the past but you have gone to far with your spin on everything and obvious lack of integrity in the farce of supporting Strickland and all he stands for.

You have proven repeatedly that you have absolutely no honor on this blog and will do whatever it takes to get your candidate elected.

I remember your rants about Mike Gibson and how great he was although he came in what, fifth place. Then you went on about how he should start to volunteer to builf name recognition and strategically join the "Right" Boards to pad his resume for the next election. Anyone who has followed this blog can see how transparent you are. You are not doing Mike Gibson any favors by making him seem that he only volunteers or donates money to "look good for the next election." Gibson should not associate with someone who makes him out to be so shallow.

Genuine people don't volunteer and "sit" on committees and boards to build their resume. I have served on dozens of committees and boards for decades, to many to list and it is usually only 10% of board or committee members that actually contribute anything of value. Just because someone "sits" on a board means nothing unless you see "works".

I was taught as a Christian that saying you have faith doesn't count for as much as your works.

I will pray for God's will to be done in this election. In the end it is up to God to determine who he allows to have power. In the meantime I will devote myself to supporting the best and most honest candidate Hannah-Beth Jackson and let God's will be done.

How does Strickland Sleep = Same old rant and issue = Donna Prenta

Marie,

All I can say is the Trial Lawyers' Association must be very proud of Hannah-Beth for her receipt of this award, as they are the primary beneficiaries of these so-called "consumer rights" bills.

How Does Strickland Sleep at Night,

Very well, I'm sure.

Your diversive/divisive tactics, in terms of trying to portray me as someone who would belittle someone with a mental disability, are absolutely shameful. You should be ashamed of yourself for such slanderous, unfounded comments. And you call yourself a Christian? You are no better, in my view, than the self-righteous televangelists who proclaim themselves holier than thou while sleeping with their neighbor's wife.

C'mon, let's get this discussion back on track. The bottom line is Tony Strickland has proven himself to a much more effective representative of the people he would serve in the 19th District. Hannah-Beth Jackson is a completely out of touch, self-congratulatory, hack who is beholden only to labor unions and trial lawyers.

She has also mercilessly attacked Tony for accepting funds from the same company that has indirectly provided funding for her election effort. This is a clear indignation of her disingeuous nature and lack of character.

The voters of the 19th SD deserve better than this and they'll receive it on November 4th.

Consumers are beneficiaries of her legislation. She received an award for actually doing something.

Strickland's company has done absolutely nothing.

Face it, Mongo, Strickland's 100 percent bought and paid for by the makers of a potent carcinogen who only care about selling their product.

Hannah-Beth hasn't attacked anyone. The newspaper reporters are on to your guy. It's a good story. I don't blame them.

How did you come up with your name Mongo Flamo? Now that you are aware that it is offensive will you change it? How about just using Flamo?

BTW: Exagerrating and lying are a form of desperation.

The name "Mongo Flamo" was taken from the "Blazing Saddles" character, with a little spin of my own added. Get over it. It's just a blog name. And, no, I will absolutely not change it simply because you have a wild imagination.

People on this blog have made sport of the name and belittled me for using it, but never have they accused me of deriving it from "Mongoloid" or any of your other ridiculous claims.

Enough with the name and let's get on with the issues.

Marie, Hannah-Beth is at the beck and call of the union lackeys and her lawyer buddies in Santa Barbara. You should really look into a candidate's background and political affiliations before declaring them the next Gandhi.

It seems Mongo is out of things to say in favor of his candidate.

How about he just answers a simple question.

Do you think this award was given because of Tony Strickland's political connections?

No.

Garbage. The man is a fraud, as are his gumbas.

Mongo can always use his "Somebody" moniker, or we can just call him Mike.

Mongo Flamo,

You just admitted that the "dim-witted" person from Blazing Saddles was named Mongo and that is where you derived you name.

You are deliberately using this derogatory slur towards individuals that are slow. Why do you think they named the "dim-witted" character Mongo in Blazing Saddles?

Now that you are aware of your offense I encourage you to drop the Mongo title and stick to Flamo only. Do you want people who google Tony to see that his biggest fan uses a handle that is demeaning to people with disabilities and individuals with Down Sysndrome?

You must have taken political correctness 101 from Kunicki who when he was interviewed by the Star he marveled upon learning as a County School Board Member "that the severely handicapped's (make that children with disabilities) grandparents would actually fly all the way from Florida and Minnesota because they graduated from school.

mongo, you do realize that "unions" are basically "workers and their families", don't you? So you're attacking Jackson for standing up for workers and their children...is that so?

Do Strickland and the Three Sluts also feel this way?

GS, You know the answer. Strickland and the Three Sluts see workers and their children as cash cows to poison with cancer causing agents, tempt with gambling and seduce with flavored booze; all to line their pockets with silver. The Strickland gumbas are neophytes striving to get their share of the American dream by following Strickland. Behind their backs, it is he who has the last laugh.

While there are a few exceptions, most union leaders are just small time politicians who think nothing of using the workers and their families for personal gain.

Then why don't they get voted out by their members? They have elections often enough.

Most union members are satisfied with their union leadership.

Too bad for Mongo and the rest Strickland has proven himself a union hack just like Jackson. He was a big supporter of prevailing wage and was even specially thanked for his support by several of the big unions. He also supported forced union membership. So much for the rights of workers. That's why we will have a real conservative independent in the race.

Do tell us more...

Yeah, let's see a real conservative on the ticket. Give the people a real choice in this race between the Montecito Liberal and the fake Republican living off the taxpayer.

Yeah, just like the general population is satisfied with their elected officials.

Mango Flamo I am giving you an award. You have won "The biggest GOP Lemming and blind follower" Award. Keep up the good work lame brain!

Hey, Not Osborn, go take a long walk on a short pier, would you?

The "Three Sluts" (Osborn/Kunicki/Gibson) and Strickland are continuing to spread their lies on this blog.

Jackson is the only one with integrity in this race. This will be proven further as the race goes on.

Actually, the Three Sluts are Alcohol, Tobacco & Gambling.

I've dated them all! There's been times I thought of each one as a prom queen.

We all have, at some point...but then Tony's engaged now, to his constituents, yet still seeing these three behind the Voter's backs. Can the Voters trust him to be faithful after they tie the knot? I think not.

I don't understand how this company is winning awards.

Was The Simi Valley Chamber a part of this "award"?

If so, I plan on resigning.

Nevada whore houses want to expand into California. It is a legal business in Nevada. Does Strickland take money from whore houses? Strip clubs are legal businesses? How about them, Tony? Bot those two business don't kill people. Tobacco does. More than 200,000 Americans each and every year. Your $50,000 has American blood on it Strickland. How desperate are you to have another taxpayer funded job?

If all it takes to be an award winning business is a great idea and political connections then the award means nothing.

Maybe if Greenwave had a product, paid employees, or profit then it should be considered.

But until then these obviously political activist chamber members have shown how little we should respect them.

The company hasn't created a single job or paid a dime in taxes on profits but they are helping our community?

The local chambers of commerce are nothing more than PAC's and should be treated as such for their clear political action in this campaign.

They denigrated every business in the area that does provide jobs, sales taxes, and gives back to the community in so many ways.

I am not calling out local businesses but I am suggesting they stay away from this political organization.

They are a tool of the VCRCC cabal, not a pro business group.
