VP selections

Seems the whole nation is discussing VP picks so I figured I would share some names I have been thinking might help each ticket.

Barack Obama
Al Gore.
Imagine. Ready day one. Knows his way around. Has plenty of experience. Really good at being VP.

Hillary Clinton could polarize the electorate but she has shown her ability to raise money and turn out votes.

But maybe an outside the box pick like Michael Bloomberg ( executive experience in business and as a mayor plus financial experience to bring confidence in unsure times) or Senator Chuck Hagel ( a Republican who has turned against the war)?

She wasn't my pick for president but I see why some want her on the ticket.

John McCain
I don't see him picking Crist or Huckabee.
But Mitt Romney could help him. Mitt helps McCain on economic issues. McCain doesn't connect on economic issues as well as he does on other issues. But Mitt Romney does show confidence when he explains economics.

Do you remember this clip:

Mitt Romney would bring expertise, regardless if you agree with him, on what will be one of the top issues in the campaign.

So, what are your thoughts on the VP choices for both candidates?

A funny video about McCain's handling of a question from Ron Paul, who last time I heard was continuing his run for nomination of the Republican Party!

Obama might be wise in choosing Bill Richardson. He'll certainly help with the Hispanic vote and western states. He's a great politician with substantial national experience and name recognition as Energy Secretary under Bill Clinton and Ambassador to the United Nations.

For McCain, he needs someone younger and with absolutely no ties to the Bush administration or his policies. Perhaps Romney would help him in some ways, but could hurt him in others. Maybe Charlie Crist would be a good choice. He's got youth and a rising political star in his favor and could help with the southern vote.

Mongo lonely on Saturday night...only have computer to play with.

McBush should pick Condoleezza Rice. She is female. She is African American. Most importantly, she knows where all the bodies are buried. You can't dig in the wrong place.

Barrack O'bama should pick Hillary Clinton. Hillary could distract the Mongo Media away from Barrack O'bama. If you pick someone boring and neutral it won't help with anything.
Al Gore is another good choice. Let the Republicans worry about the government protecting nature.

No one bored here, Flamout. Just finished business up a bit earlier than usual in the bedroom, fixed a fresh martini and logged in...

For Obama, Richardson is a solid pick, but an even better pick would be Sen. Webb of Virginia. Webb shores up Obama's lack of foriegn policy experience, is a man with a military background in sync with his call for withdrawal from Iraq, and could peel away Virginia's 13 electoral votes.

Mccain will likely go with Gov. Charlie Crist of Florida which will cover McCain's back in his attempt to sew up the south. Crist is also one letter shy of reminding voters that we like someone who reminds us of Jesus rather than the candidate who reminds us of Mohammed. Stupid? Yes, but so is a large segment of the voting public that leans Republican.

Stupid like a FOX (news watcher).

I hope that no one suffers a heart attack by my saying so, but I agree with Mongo on the choices for both parties.

Both Richardson and Crist provide credibility and election strength - without any huge downsides - for their respective running mates. Each has an excellent personal relationship with the Presidential nominees that share the ticket with and both have executive experience that their running mates lack.

Crist helps shore up the right-to-life voters for McCain - and McCain will need this among Catholics as he has had support from ministers that have been openly anti-Catholic. Richardson has sterling international credentials and unequaled knowledge and experience on energy issues.

Crist may keep Florida in the Republican column and may help in one or two other Southern states where Obama has shown strength. I believe Richardson snags New Mexico for the Dems and puts Texas, Colorado and even Arizona into play.

The VP choices mentioned are horrible choices.

Charlie Crist - It is more than obvious that Charlie Crist had a major role, signed off, and has his fingerprints are all over the scheme to move the Florida voting date so Florida Republicans only got ½ their delegates and the Democrats got none. Excellent judgment! That should make for interesting conversation during the election season. Does he have any other self destructive patterns? Always tan and 50 years old and only married for several months. The Christian values voters would have a field day with that. Even more interesting conversation points.

Richardson – Obama clearly has a problem with white working class people and there is a lot of anger about illegal immigration. So Obama is going to double up with another minority, Hispanics. No way!

McCain will pick either Mitt Romney because of his economic background or Mike Huckabee because of large number of Christian conservatives in the Republican Party.
