A more accurate headline would be "Complaint to be Filed". The Ventura County Sheriff's Depatment can then take a report, which will then be submitted and reviewed by the DA' Office. Then the DA will decide whether there is enough evidence to file charges. Until then it is just a complaint.

Greg Totten will not prosecute a Republican chief of staff. Ventura County District Attorney's office is one of the most corrupt organizations in the Nation. The people making the complaint have more of a chance of being arrested than the person that committed the crime.

If they can prove that the Strickland thug was acting on the direct order of the Strickland's then we would possibly have a criminal conspiracy. I think the FBI should be here investigating as they are above the reach of Boss Hogg at the VCRCC.

If it is a complaint, it will go nowhere unless it is posted in public places such as this blog and other locations. The former prosecutor for Strickland issues was Steve Bennett. None of the other complaints went anywhere. He is now a judge. He was also endorsed by the Stricklands.

A police official in Ventura County isn't going to bring something like this to the Republican VCRCC district attorney. It's a career killer.

Everyone should know that Joel Angeles' "Leave without Pay" didn't start until 2 weeks after Audra announced it because that's when the Legislature's summer recess was set to begin and the time when many campaign operatives take a leave to work on the campaign. How is that supposed to be a punishment for poor judgment? Audra intentionally misled the public.

Angeles was in her Capitol office meeting with constituents and others for 2 weeks after Audra announced the LWOP and he's probably been in the campaign office since the 4th of July weekend. The August 3rd date coincides with the date the Legislature resumes session.

I find it fascinating how some lefties around here are so quick to make claims of vast conspiracies without any evidence whatsoever to back up the accusations. It is interesting how the same folks who scream about their civil liberties being in jeopardy are often more than willing to convict a person without evidence, without trial, and without due process when it suits their purposes.

If there is an accusation of a crime then it should be investigated. But there is a process, and, above all, the accused has a right to due process and a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. I prefer to wait until the process has been completed and the accused has had their day in court before declaring them guilty of a crime. How disappointing some people have a problem with that.

You're right, it is not a vast right-wing conspiracy. Perhaps you should explain that to the folks who have been using this incident to level accusations of corruption and criminal conspiracy against the DA and VCRCC, and are calling for an FBI investigation over a pushing and shoving match. If Tony Strickland's dog crapped on his neighbor's lawn you would demand an FBI investigation. You guys are a joke.

The Stricklands' need to distance themselves from Joel or it will cost them both elections.

I'm not defending Angeles, or anybody else. All I have said from the beginning is to let law enforcement do their job and investigate the incident. Once they conclude their investigation they can decide whether there is enough evidence to bring charges. That is how the process works. Yet some people seem to have a problem with that.

Osborn and the VCRCC are controlled by Strickland, Totten and Brooks are inner circle members of the VCRCC. The VCRCC has already announced they will do anything to get the Strickland's re-elected. Totten has a built in conflict of interest as does Brooks, both were supported by the VCRCC and both rely on the VCRCC to keep them in office and they know if they cross Osborn or the Strickland's that they will run some other neocon Christian Coalition goon against them. Ask Tenenbaum how the VCRCC treated him. Now had Pandolfi pushed Angeles here is what I think would have happened, five VC sheriff's would have most likely kicked the crap out of him, put him in cuffs and in jail and Totten would already have filed charges. Instead when they heard it was Angeles who was acting on the Strickland's orders they did nothing, and I predict they will do nothing. The only way to have this thing above board is to have the FBI come in and to have a federal judge from outside VC involved.
