( State Assembly Member Pedro Nava talking about environmental justice.)
In 2010 Assemblymembers Pedro Nava and Audra Strickland will both be termed out of office.
Early rumors say that Pedro Nava's wife, Susan Jordan will run to replace him. She is Director of The California Coastal Protection Network. Their website can be found here. I do not live in the district and I know very little about either of their records. But his wife seems to be an accomplished individual.
On the Republican side Jeff Gorell, former candidate in the 2004 Republican Assembly primary, has started planning to run again. His PR and lobbying firm website can be found here. His campaign site can be found here. He also has a facebook account. Jeff has a long biography including education and military service that makes him appear to be the most formidable candidate thus far. Do you think there will be a challenge for him in the primary?
There is a protest called by CTA outside Assembly Member Strickland's office to protest her insistence of cuts only for any proposed budget. Click on continue reading for details.

If HBJ wins the senate seat, 2010 Assembly seats could be a little different. Both Stricklands will be looking for work. Will it be Gallegly's seat? If so, what will people like Glen B. do?
Can Tony run for Audra's seat? This will pit him against Gorell.
Or if Strickland wins, will HBJ be going after Pedro's assembly seat?
Both candidates are trying to wrap things up and block out other candidates from even trying. But there may be some wiggle room despite their intentions.
I would like to see Mickey Jones throw his hat into the ring.
Now that would make for a great race!
Tony can't run for Audra's seat because he already held it from 1998-2004 and there's a lifetime ban with term limits. Same goes with HBJ. She held Nava's seat from 1998-2004 and also can't serve again in the Assembly.
