Her upcoming fundraiser with Lt. Governor John Garamendi isn't too big of a surprise being that he has already declared his intention of running for governor in 2010. Of all the names being tossed out for governor who do you support? I think Jerry Brown is going to be a compelling governor because of his long life story of serving the public or running for office at so many different levels. What other names have you heard or read?

Sierra Club Endorses Carole!
We were thrilled to learn that the Sierra Club has endorsed our race. This prestigious endorsement means that our campaign is recognized by the Environmental Community as viable and that they believe I will work to restore and protect our environment. Many, many thanks to the large number of Sierra Club supporters that helped to shepherded us through the endorsement process.
Precinct Walking Resumes
Calling all walkers. We will Precinct Walk this Saturday (9/20) and Sunday (9/21) from 4pm to dark (bring a flashlight if you have one). We walk/phone, for ALL of our Democratic Candidates in the 38th AD. Everyone is welcome to participate. No experience needed. We will train you. We will meet this Saturday evening (9/20) at 4pm at our house, 25439 Via Macarena , Valencia , 91355 and Sunday evening (9/21) starting at Dorri Raskin's home in SFV (see directions below).
Telephone Callers Needed
Many people are volunteering to make phone calls to voters from DP/SFV (818-995-3367) and SCV Democratic HQ (661-877-2775) Please call today to arrange for a time to go in and make calls. This election is going to be won by our volunteer efforts, especially in reaching out to the Decline to State (Independent) voters. They need to learn about ALL of Democratic candidates and to be urged to "vote down ticket" this year. Most people do not know who the candidates "down ticket" are and what we stand for. Name recognition and repetition is very important.
Lt.Gov. John Garamendi to appear at our Fundraiser - Volunteers needed
We are beginning to receive response from the "Sponsor" letters we sent out for this event. The success of this fundraiser will mean that our campaign will be able to send mailers, make Robo calls and do other GOTV activities that will mean victory in November. This will be an opportunity for the voters of the 38th AD to meet Lt.Gov. John Garamendi who is running for Governor in 2010. I hope you will volunteer to help and are planning to attend on October 30 from 5-7pm at the Valencia Hills Club House, 4060 Oak Vale Drive , Valencia , CA 91355 . He will be speaking about the problem California is facing, his vision for workable solutions and how electing me to the State Assembly is vital to solving these problems. There is a lot to do to prepare for this big event. We need lots of volunteers. Volunteers will receive one free ticket for the event. Anyone who volunteers at SCV/DHQ or DP/SFV HQ to help get all of our candidates in the 38th AD elected will get a reduced price ticket. We had a jolly good envelope stuffing party last week where 10 volunteers helped to get the "Sponsor" letters out. Many thanks to you all. Now we need

This Monday evening (9/22) at 5:30pm noted author, Dr. Robert Scheer will be appearing at Don Cuco's, 27247 Camp Plenty Road , Canyon Country. He will be discussing his new book, "The Pornography of Power: How Defense Hawks Hijacked 9/11 and Weakened America ." I hope you will plan to attend this event as I understand he is very impressive with his knowledge and understanding of what is going on that is affecting us all.

John Garamendi will be the special guest at a fundraising event for my campaign against Cameron Smyth (R) for the 38th AD seat. Eric Bauman, chair of the LACDP will be the Master of Ceremonies, and other political notables such as Board of Equalization Chair Judy Chu and Assemblymember Paul Koretz (ret) have been invited. These notables are supporting my campaign because for the first time, the 38th AD can turn blue.
The Levels of Sponsorship are
• Platinum -$3600 - A Platinum Sponsor will receive 20 tickets to the event, a full-page 4-color advertisement in the commemorative program (Thanks to NASW, our first platinum pledge!)
• Golden -$2500 - A Golden Sponsor will receive 10 tickets to the event and a full-page advertisement in the commemorative program
• Silver - $1000 - A Silver Sponsor will receive 5 tickets to the event and a half page advertisement in the commemorative program
• Bronze - $500 - A Bronze Sponsor will receive 2 tickets to the event and a quarter page advertisement in the commemorative program
Individual tickets are available at $50 ($80 for couples) and advertisements in the commemorative program can be purchased separately starting at $150 - see form for added options.
In this, the "Year of the Democrats," the Decline to State voters are solidly with us. Two recent polls in the 38th AD indicate this district is definitely in play.
