VENTURA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PAC ENDORSES

TONY STRICKLAND FOR STATE SENATE

History Of Supporting Local Businesses Trumps Opponent's Poor Record

(Ventura) The Ventura Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee officially endorsed Tony Strickland in his race for the 19th District seat in the California State Senate. Strickland has a long history of supporting local businesses and promoting legislation aimed at growing our state and local economy.

In their endorsement letter, the Ventura Chamber of Commerce PAC states: "Your past record in the State Assembly, in support of key business legislation, is greatly needed in our state today and your support of small businesses and working families was a major factor in this decision to support your campaign."

"It is an honor to receive the support of an organization that does such a wonderful job representing the Ventura business community," said Strickland. "I will continue to work hard on their behalf and promote an environment that benefits working familes."

Commentary in the local monthly magazine Ventura Business said it best...

"Rarely has there been such a contrast in business support between two candidates. Tony Strickland supported California businesses 92.77 percent of the time, while Jackson voted favorably for business 13.25 percent of the six-year period."

- Ventura Business (September 2008)

"...Jackson has opposed discount retailers, supported higher local income taxes, car taxes, internet taxes, and increased regulation on businesses. Tony Strickland votes against such job-killing legislation, thereby standing with small businesses and working families."

Ooooh. No wonder he didn't post his endorsements up until now.

He didn't get the greater Ventura Chamber of Commerce endorsement - it was voted down.

Please explain the difference to us between the greater chamber and the PAC?

Thanks!

The Chamber PAC is controlled by Bob Albiani and a bunch of other Strickland stooges that have infiltrated the political arm of the Chamber - and don't think that was an accident.

I represent the "Unethical Scum Bag Association" and we are proud to endorse Tony Strickland for State Senate!

The Ventura Chamber PAC is about as mainstream as they come, made up primarily of small business owners and local merchants. This group recognized Tony Strickland as the better of the two candidates due to his pro-business record during his tenure in the State Assembly.

Hannah-Beth Jackson, on the other hand, had an abysmal record while in office regarding her attitude and actions involving taxing policies and government regulation affecting the business community.

The choice was clear from the private sector's perspective. This should come as no surprise to anyone.

The Ventura Chamber PAC is controlled by Strickland and they are Strickland's puppets. How does it feel to dance at the end of strings held by someone else boys and girls?

The PAC is not mainstream - it is mostly Republicans and developer and lawyer heavy.

The Chamber itself is more mainsteam and they voted to not endorse.

If Strickland is so pro-business, how come you and your colleagues are paying over $110/mwh for electricity (and steadily climbing) instead of $70/mwh through 2023?

If CA was paying $70/mwh through 2023 you can bet your arse businesses, jobs, payrolls,, taxes and consumers would be flocking to the state. Instead we have one of the highest rates in the nation and all those things are leaving us.

Oh...I remember why we're not paying the lowest rates in the Nation. It's because Strickland and the out-of-state power companies sued to prevent that deal from happening.

Tony Strickland is a conservative hack and the Ventura County Star should be embarrassed.

Who are the members of the Chamber PAC?

Not sure if Mike Gibson is a member of the Chamber PAC, although I know he's close to Bob Alviani and some of the others on the PAC. He's definitely on the Chamber's Legislative Committee, which is an adjunct of the PAC. Hmmmm....

Brian

The release was about tony's endorsement from the PAC. Why did you stray off topic with all the other stuff you wrote about?

Because he's a Jackson supporter, maybe?

Thanks mongo... which leads me into my next question.

Brian who do you support for this seat? And when are you going to endorse that person?

Remember that nice $300 tax rebate Bush promised everyone in 2000? After 8 years of all the big talk about reducing taxes and government, is there still anyone out there who wouldn't gladly return that $300 if it would bring back the good old days?

It's the same with Strickland. He promises low taxes and small government and then socks it to you with higher costs of living and a more screwed up government. He did it during the energy scandals: we now pay a lot more for power than we have to. He does it every time he fights legislation to protect kids: we end up watching our children suffer from toxins while our medical bills for cancers and other illnesses go through the roof.
Sure he's helped us get a piece of the growing casino business but those miserly handouts never seems to pay for the higher costs of law enforcement and rehab for the victims of gambling addiction.

Strickland's foolish policies cost you and I a lot more than the tax breaks he promises but never seems to deliver. Just look at last month's electric bill and then tell Strickland to stay away....he costs us all too much.

The Ventura Chamber PAC is not a secret organization. They are right on the Chamber website. This list isn't entirely up to date. Dannielle Brinkman, CPA and Rob Edwards with the Downtown Development Organization are on it. Kevin Corse just resigned. Bob Alviani is the President and would be happy to take any questions.

Marie Lakin's blog & Jackson's office are condemning Strickland for "associating" with a company called STWA (Save the World's Air), when, in fact, that company's former president, one Mr. Muller, was the bad guy, was sued by said company and, apparently, has not been associated with it since 2001. So why are Jackson and Lakin making these derogatory remarks about Strickland's association with this company ?

Well, now take one guess, my friend...

Take a look at this company. Their own products have been proven ineffective. They are deeply in debt and are in arrears in paying the licensing fees to a university which has developed another product they are interested in. If Strickland is using this company to prop up his company in an ad, it's a mistake. This is information voters should know. It all follows a pattern of deception.

Juan, please tell me you don't make derogatory remarks about public figures on my blog. Oh no, not you.

I was just doing my duty in posting a press release...
