Camarillo City Council Member Mike Morgan featured in a Tony Strickland Mailer

Camarillo City Council Member Mike Morgan's letter in support of Tony Strickland quotes extensively from a Los Angeles Times editorial ENDORSING Hannah-Beth Jackson. This shouldn't go both ways. If the Los Angeles Times had a valid editorial, then their endorsement of Hannah-Beth Jackson is significant. If it isn't a decent editorial, then it shouldn't be quoted from at all. Choose a position!

Key quote left out by the Strickland campaign:

The last thing the Legislature needs is another member who signed a no-tax pledge and simply will not engage with Democrats in the give-and-take negotiations necessary to get through the state's budget crisis.

Besides this I think it is a much better mailer than the others I have been seeing. It focuses on local issues including the Camarillo prison hospital. In this campaign I have seen Hannah-Beth Jackson doing a better job relating to local issues like the proposed landfill/dump expansion and the clean up of Rocketdyne. Have you seen anything else the candidates' have done to appeal to specific local issues to add on?

Simi Valley Mayor Miller put out the same garbage today in the mail. His even was sent in an envelop that looked like it came from the City. I always thought highly of Miller. He has gone down in my book for this one. I'm sure he will claim that he signed the letter, but wasn't responsible for the envelop. It is a bunch of bull. Miller is responsible for his actions. When you endorse Phony Tony, you become a part of his fraud.

CAP,

You voting for Bruce Witkin then?

CAP-When you endorse Phony Tony, you become a part of his fraud.

Barbra Williamson endorsed Tony Strickland, do you support her?

Check out the late contributions to Williamson, Sojka and Miller. Saperstein's, Kunicki and Gary Gorian (Colton Lee) combined donated $5500 a piece to each of them. BTW Gorian and Kunicki are partners in Green Wave Energy.

I gues we know what money will buy.

Once again, Brian, just spit it out: It's cheap to quote partially from an editorial that endorses your opponent. Good thing the Star editorial left him nowhere to do that. They're on to his crass political games.

Could you post a link to the late contributions?

As Claude Rains in Casablanca would say:

"I'm shocked, shocked to find that politics is going on in an election!"

I find this letter very offensive. It is one thing if Mike Morgan wants to support Strickland as a private individual but to make out like he is speaking for the city is really bad. Just cost him this vote for ever and ever.

Well, here's another post from Katie bashing the Stricklands again. Surprise me sometime, Katie, and support a Republican for once, would you?

All You Hyper-Partisan Jacksonites and Stricklanders:

During the last three weeks, our household, with six voters, has received well over 50 pieces of mail from your respective candidates...

Not One, I repeat, Not One, has laid-out, even a skeleton of a plan, on how either would help lead the State out of its most serious fiscal crisis in generations.

And speaking of skeletons, both HBJ and Strickland have more than their fair-share of scary-ones in their respective political closets. And neither, in the words of George Bernard Shaw, "have taught them how best to dance!.."

The travesty that was the FY 08-09 fiscally-phony-gimmicked State Budget, passed nearly 60-days late, is already seriously in the red. State revenues are dropping preciptiously, as we slide into the worst recession in more than three decades. The credit-crunch is making it next to impossible for the State to float short-term tax anticipation notes to cover its operating bills, let alone debt-service restructuring. And a non-elected Federal court appointed master, is poised to hold both the Governor and the State Legislature in contempt for failing to pony-up $3.5 Billion in money the State doesn't have, to pay for prison healthcare at time when increasing numbers of law-abiding California taxpayers who are not in jail, have no health care of their own.

Californian's are facing a perfect fiscal storm (in fact, more likely a Class-5 Fiscal Hurricane) and your respective candidates are fiddling, Nero-like, as the Rome burns.

My rhetorical question to you all is this, "If their respective mailing pieces and other media strategies reflect their best creative thinking, funded by $10+Million of special-interest contributions, imagine what will happen when one of them is given the ability to cast votes on a $140+ Billion State Budget bill?.."

I guess they are both proving the truth of Kinky Friedman's old adage about politics Kinky, who was the Independent candidate for Governor in Texas during the 2006 election, said it best, "..Politics is the only field in which the more experience you have, the worse you get...

NostraDemus

Surprise - I think you are being a little sensitive - I've expressed dismay with Morgan.

He's a Republican and no, I don't support his tactics.

If a Republican is put up and if he or she is good, had ethics and integrity, of course, I will vote for that person. I don't think this is too much to ask.

Maybe my standards are higher than yours.

Mike Morgan is too stupid to have written this himself.

He has also endorsed Chrissy V. for COE. Dolts, all three of them.

Katie,

It seems like the only thing you don't support is Mike Morgan's right to endorse the candidate of his choice. I would say your's are the standards that need to be raised a notch or two.

It would seem our Katie just dislikes deviousness and dishonesty. Quoting only partially from an editorial that supported an opponent and putting your missive on paper designed to look like official city stationery counts as tacky and desperate and could be called devious as well. Par for the course with the Strickland crowd who will do anything and say anything to win.

Go find some honest Republicans and Katie will support them.

There is a standard our electeds need to live up to. Mike just failed. His title belongs to the citizens of Camarillo, not Mike himself. He needs to stop the buffonery and consintrate on what the knows best, talking out of both sides of his mouth.
