Chris Valenzano has shown tremendous leadership while serving on the Board of Education. He is looking out first for the needs of students and is not afraid to challenge the bureaucrats and the administrators who are often more interested in preserving the status quo than serving the needs of the children. Chris has always placed the taxpayers interests at the top of his list of priorities during his years of service on the Board.

Mark Lisagor is a one-issue candidate who only wants to talk about consultant contracts because he feels it is a wedge issue and one that he can play attack dog with. Quite frankly, I don't believe he even understands what the contracts are for. Lisagor most certainly doesn't have the depth and breadth of experience and knowledge needed to lead our children into the future. He only knows how to lash out as a way to try and make a name for himself.

None of us know what the (now) $396,000 is for. The contracts have produced ZERO for our children. Maybe these lobbyists did a little sidelining for Tony Strickland when out lobbying Wal-Mart and Chrysler for supposed ROP contact for the schools. Tony got big fat checks instead.

Valenzano is on our school board and he does not "believe" in evolution. In my book that's a non-starter right there. Add to that Valenzano's tendency to line up without an original thought with the far right wing of the Republican party, and you've basically got an ideologue with little to show for all his bluster.

As for Mark Lisagor, he is quite literally everywhere in this community where volunteers work their wonders. I have worked in the foster youth community and with our schools and Dr. Lisagor has been a steadfast and generous supporter and worker for these causes. Among his many activities, he is also involved with the Boys and Girls Club, Cal State University Channel Islands, and gives his time and skills generously all over the world to those in need.

There is no choice here. Mark Lisagor is by far superior as a candidate and as a community leader and he will be a superior board member.

Mark Lisagor is ten times the better candidate. He will listen to his constituents and will do a much improved job of making our money work for us. The lobbyist issue is just the tip of the iceberg and it is time to make the wasteful spending stop. Mark Lisagor will focus on doing the job right.

The only money Valenzano seems to be getting for his campaign is from a fellow board member - Kunicki - who also brought in tobacco money to the Republican Central Committee. Valenzano is also on the Central Committee. Yuck! Our children deserve better.

The recent fiasco with the replacement of Chuck Weis, the Superindendent, ought to have everyone up in arms. Thank goodness Stanley Mantooth was selected but that is only because the Ventura County Board of Education has a lot of community eyes on them.

Valenzano's literature says he is an advocate for children. Huh? His own child's school was being closed and he never said or did anything on its behalf. He also didn't spend anytime in that school volunteering. He had signed a "contract" with the school, as all the families did, promising to volunteer. Yet - nothing.
So, tell me how did he advocate? Oh, thats right! By doing whatever the Stricklands told him too.
Lisagor, however, has a wide-spread reputation for helping children in the community and volunteering his time on their behalf. Vote for Lisagor!

Chris Valenzano is nothing but a hand puppet of Tony the Phony Strickland's! Valenzano is a pathetic little lapdog who calls Phony Tony once a day to get his marching orders. Chris Valenzano could not come up with an original thought if his life depended on it. All he does is spew the agenda of the Christian Coalition at the expense of children and now he sends thousands of our tax dollars to lobbyists that are connected to groups that are connected to the far right and they have done nothing for VC schools. Valenzano is a laughing stock and a joke and it is time to elect someone who actually cares about kids and taking care of the taxpayers money!

I've lived in Camarillo for 47 years and I've never heard of Mark Lisagor. He sounds like some newbie trying to get his foot in the political door by getting elected to the Board of Education.

I've actually heard quite a lot about Chris Valenzano. In fact, I know his parents quite well and I've known him since he was a kid. He's a fine young man and is devoted to serving the community in whatever he does, whether in elective office or as a paramedic.

I don't who this Katie gal is, but it sounds like she's got a burr up her saddle. I think she should stick to carrying those "No on 8" signs around town and stay out of the school board election, since she obviously doesn't know a hoot about what she's talking about.

Everyone in Camarillo who has kids or grandkids knows who Mark Lisagor is - he's the Spaceship Dentist.

I do have a burr up my saddle and it is the way the Ventura County Board of Education has been mismanaged. Ramon Flores and Mark Lisagor will be great additions.

I noticed that Greg Totten and Bob Brooks didn't endorse Chris Valenzano - which is amazing because they will endorse anything with an R next to their names. I heard Greg Totten was even making robo calls for Strickland - saying he was non-partisan!!!! What a joke.
