( An odd video for Proposition 2, which deals with farm animals.)
The Simi Valley Democrats will be discussing some ballot propositions at their next meeting. Here is the announcement:
The Simi Valley/Moorpark Democratic club will be discussing the propositions that will appear on the November ballot, including initiatives on parental notification, redistricting, alternative energy and others. The meeting will be held 7pm, Wed., Oct, 15 at the Simi Valley Library community room, 2969 Tapo Canyon Road.
For more info, call 805-582-2234. Refreshments will be served.
If you would like to write a guest blog entry on any of the ballot propositions let me know.
I was thinking we could get different people that frequently leave comments to do a 1 on 1 debate.
GS and Flamo, do you two want to be first up? What ballot proposition do you disagree with each other on?

Here's how I'm voting:
1)NO...State should create the right-of-ways thru use of existing public lands and purchase of needed private lands, then trade them off as was done for the trans-continental RR. Why should the State be in the RR building business?
2)PASS...Don't know enough about husbandry to make an informed decision. Although farmers in a neighboring state actually fought a bill that would stop humans from having sex with farm animals. Go figure!
3)YES...Its for the well-being of the most helpless of Californians, for God's sake.
4)YES...To vote NO would be to abandon minors to abuse, rape and incest.
5)YES...A good start on ending the overcrowding of prisons by the Governator & Incarceration Inc.
6)NO...As written, we'll see all the money spent funding the growth of the incarceration industry, with no impact on crime rates.
7)NO...Let''s see what happens as we approach 2010 before we start establishing potentially harmful plans for 2025.
8)NO...Shame on anyone trying to use the law to enforce their notion of morality on others. Ideally, the State should leave the marriage business altogether.
9)PASS...I can't figure out how the wording of this Prop will work out in practice.
10)NO...There are better, fiscally neutral ways to accomplish the same thing. This is an auto industry bailout and they've had over thirty year's warning to have fixed their present problem. They need to bite the bullet.
11)PASS...What happens when the commission's Dems & Repubs don't agree? Plus, instead of having a meaningful impact on political extremism in the legislature it may well encourage more campaign finance shenannigans and get more big spenders involved in a broader range of elections.
12)YES...Its a good Prop that costs the taxpayers nothing and helps those who laid it all on the line for the rest of us.
