The State Democratic Party continues to send out mail on behalf of Ferial Masry, who is challenging Audra Strickland for a seat in the state assembly. By most accounts Ferial Masry has a serious

A little case of waiting until the last minute, shall we say? Nothing's going to help at this point. Masry ran a lousy, half-hearted campaign. I'm sorely disappointed, because I wanted to see Audra out of there.
One can only conclude that Masry wasn't really interested in winning it at all, but, rather, promoting her book. How sad for Democrats in this County.
Despite the sour grapes post from the blogger above who obviously supported her primary opponent and thinks voting day has passed, this is an effective piece which shows just how dangerous it is to have boy and girl Strickland in power.
This is Masry's third race for this office and the first time she's even been a blip on the radar for the democratic party. But a half-hearted campaign? I've been to several fundraisers for her in the past, and she has been building a local following for a number of years now. Can she beat an incumbent with such a name as Strickland? I certainly hope so, but I'm not counting on it, as incumbency is a powerful opponent.
Strickland is a thoughtless ideologue, as is her husband. They represent that far right knee-jerk conservative who seems to hate all common civic good. I got a mailer from Audra that characterized Masry as a "politician" which is a laugh since Masry has not held any elected office. But truth never got in Audra's way before, so I'm not surprised it's nowhere to be found now. She has a cushy job with her husband holding forth from their small dynasty in Sacramento and she's not going to lose that to some....Democrat.

She has been building a following of people that think she is a self absorbed and a lousy candidate. I don't know a single Democrat that voted for her this time.
Nobody is addressing the issues brought up in this mailer. I think it is highly inappropriate behavior for an elected official to act as a paid lobbyist or to swap campaign funds. The investigative lawyer was Jeff Bennett, who subsequently won the race for judge. He was also endorsed by Tony STrickland and contributed to his campaign. This is not right.
Nor do I think Mr. Stevens should stay in the race in Alaska - but he has vowed to continue even after his convictions yesterday.
As a Republican, I expect better behavior.
The odds are against Ferial Masry but bully to her for trying. Too bad she didn't have more $$$ but the Rep. had a substantial advantage in voter registration. However, as Timm Herdt pointed out earlier, the assembly district must now be in play. There were at least 3 hit pieces against Ferial in the last couple of weeks and the Ca Dem Party has stepped in - nobody spends money if they don't have to - something has changed.
Fortunately for us, Ferial Masry is going to WIN for US in the 37th Assembly District! UNfortunately, Audra and Tony have not represented the 37th AD for 10 years!!! It's time for a change. Anyone who knows Audra's record can see how out of step she is with her constituents... voting against eliminating toxins in children's toys, voting against a COLA for teachers over 85 years of age. She does not write legislation. She is out of step with the people! The constituents have not met her. Most have met Ferial Masry. She has walked and talked to over 10,000 homes in Thousand Oaks alone!!! Vote for Ferial Masry and you will have access to Sacramento!!!

Audra has done NOTHING for her constituents. No legislation passed in the last year and a late partisan attempt to steal the thunder from the already existing bipartisan group dealing with the prison hospital has made her look like the political hack she is. She just occupies office space. Her chief of staff is in legal hot water too. What a pathetic representative for the people of her district.
Interesting comments from 'too little to late' and 'go sell you stupid book' blogger who appear to be one and some person. If passion is what it takes, Ferial has it! This could be a real surprise race and the Democratic Party is getting on board. I understand the Karen Bass will be here to help Ferial. Some sour folks will be out in the cold.
Instead of wishful thinking and fantasizing about Masry winning this race (which she won't), Democrats should be working on recruiting a candidate that can realistically challenge Audra for this seat.
Masry was not a good candidate. I agree wholeheartedly with "Too Little, Too Late." People saw through this effort to promote her book and didn't take her seriously at all in this election (Democrats and Republicans alike).
Get a real candidate that we Democrats can get behind. This is extremely disappointing and I look towards our County Central Committee as the ones who should be doing a better job in this regard.
Audra and Tony Strickland are both about to get dumped by the voters, everyone is sick of these two self serving hypocrits who are both George Bush clones!
If she was serious she would have been out raising money the past 2 years instead of sitting around and expecting some last minute mailers to save her lazy butt.
Just received a robocall from Audra begging us not believe HBJ's "lies and distortions." Save it Audra. Nobody believes anything you or your husband say.
I've received numerous robo and personal calls from Hannah-Beth's people, including Ventura City Councilman, Carl Morehouse. I've also had her people come to my door and try to give me her hand-outs even though I have a large Tony Strickland sign on my front yard.
I've had to send at least 4 people packing over the last 3 days. You talk about desperation...
Tony the Phony Strickland is nothing but a Bush clone, or should I say clown. Tony and Audra Strickland live in a multi million dollar mansion in Moorpark and neither has ever had a real job, they are both career politicians. While taxpayers pay their medical bills for them and their children they vote to deny basic healthcare to the lemmings who keep voting them into office. Tony and Audra are laughing all the way to the bank!
Why don't you stick to what you know? Where did this multi million dollar mansion business come from? They actually live in a very modest home in Moorpark. Living alongside postal workers, nurses, and some who work for the City. Nobody gets rich in public service, unless you start out that way. Take a deep breath. It's almost over.
To Hannah-Robo
Good. I'm glad she has a great ground campaign running.
Deal with it.
I just think it's really rude if someone sees an enormous sign in your yard supporting the opponent of who you're campaigning for, why on earth would you even go up to the door and try to hand out fliers for your candidate? It's insulting and dim-witted. The calls are getting annoying too. I've gotten to the point where I just hang up on them. They have no business calling my house in the first place, so they shouldn't be too surprised.
Jackson should hire people with half a brain now and then. She's putting out some really desperate material. It's totally insulting to the intelligence.
I have two Hannah-Beth signs on two different parts of my property and an Obama sign and still somebody left me a Strickland flyer. People can always change their minds.
It's not rude. It's called campaigning. You say "I'm not interested" or don't even open the door. Volunteers working hard for a campaign should be appreciated, in any case. I never mind this, even when I disagree.
There is nothing more desperate than the mailer I received from one of Strickland's IEs today. It was rock bottom.
Guys, come on. How many multi-million dollar mansions do you know of in Moorpark?
It does our candidates no good to make wild statements that anyone who lives in the area can and will dismiss from personal knowledge. It only draws into question what other wild or exaggerated statements you might have made.
You diminish your credibility, and it only opens our candidate up to the Montecito babble that's been thrown around for months.
Let's keep our eye on the ball.
Since Laura brought it up, for the record, Hannah-Beth does not live in Montecito. She lives in Santa Barbara in a house they bought almost 24 years ago.
Montecito is actually a fairly Republican area. The two wealthiest Republicans I know live there. (One lives next to Oprah ... ha!)
Yet I am still reading in right-wing blogs that Hannah-Beth lives in Montecito.
Why doesn't LW post much in support of Democrats anymore?
What's your point?
It was a question.
Ok, but it sure reads like a baited question.
The truth is I don't really post much these days. But I get a lot of credit/blame for other posts, so I figure I have a presence here, even when I'm not posting, lol.
However, I did in fact post regarding a terrific candidate, Carole Lutness running in the 38th, a few weeks ago.
I don't know what the point would be in me posting about each and every Democrat running at this point in the election cycle. Each campaign has staffers and volunteers (or should have them), all armed with information & stats (like Marie for HBJ), who are far more well versed on their records, their specific platform, etc.
For me to attempt to blog their behalf wouldn't be much more than a "rah rah" post. Oh look, the elected Democrat is saying good things about the Democratic candidate. News at 11?
That would provide no value to anyone and there are more useful things to do with my time. Like fight with Bubba.
