I wasn't surprised he won, but I didn't expect it to be such a large margin. Did you?

Dear Team,

Dr. Mark Lisagor is the new trustee for Ventura County Board of Education District 3!

The final results are:

189 of 189 precincts reporting

MARK LISAGOR 23,461 57.94%

CHRISTOPHER VALENZANO 16,659 41.14%

WRITE-IN 370 0.91%

TOTAL 40,490 100%

Surprisingly, the total number of votes cast is far lower than expected. In 2000, a total 49,000 votes were cast and in 2004, 47,345 votes were cast. There may be some final, provisional ballots that remain to be counted that will increase this year's total.

For those of you interested in the other VC Board of Education seat, District 5, the totals are:

RAMON FLORES 16,448

DAN MILLER 8,387

Congratulations to everyone for your part in this special victory. Defeating an incumbent in a down-ballot race is extraordinarily hard. Mark's victory is the result of the incredible effort put in by the over 400 friends and supporters who walked, put up signs, donated, endorsed, wrote letters, offered advice and regularly spread the word about why Mark should be elected. It didn't hurt that our candidate, and his wife, are well respected across the district and have a history of supporting our youth.

For anyone interested, Mark will be officially sworn in at the Monday, December 8th board meeting. The address is: 5100 Adolfo Road, Camarillo.

It has been a pleasure to work with so many of you who have demonstrated your unwavering commitment to Ventura County and its children.

Add to that the point that Chris Valenzano is an expert at producing precinct walk sheets and has been paid to do absentee vote chases by the Stricklands over the years, it is an extraordinary victory by Dr. Lisagor.

With Mark Lisagor and Ramon Flores on board, the Ventura County Board of Education might actually start taking care of the children instead of the Stricklands. I have heard that Marty Bates has already been making nice with the new majority.

There were a lot of shakes up all over Ventura County; especially with school boards and even on the board of Supes. The next few months are going to be very, very interesting especially if the Unification measure fails. A decade long grip on county politics has been gutted.

Now that we are rid of Valenzano and Matthews Bates and Kunicki are next! Enjoy what little time you have left on the board Marty and Dean!

Interesting how NONE of the usual no-name Republicans wants to touch the issues of all the changes in the county - starting with the huge win by Mark Lisagor.

Bye-Bye; how long before the lobbyists are jettisoned? Vista Real School should be re-examined again as well. And the law firm that was newly attained. And the various Brown Act violations. And ALL the unanswered e-mails...

Maybe Marty or Dean will decide to resign versus run again - I suspect it is a garbage dump.

I hope the lobbyists get dumped at the first meeting that Lisagor and Flores attend! Vista Real was a scam from the beginning, I just read that Tony the Phony Strickland took a $20,000 payoff from Vista Real while he was still in the assembly, that is why he ran his lapdog Valenzano, to vote for Vista Real! This Board was hijacked by the extremists at the VCRCC and now the people are taking the Board back! If Dean and Marty don't resign they should be recalled!

The latest Absentee Ballot count results just went up and Mark Lisagor picked up about a 0.7 percentage point.

Oooh, 0.7 of a percentage point. Pop the champagne! You're all dreaming about Dean and Marty resigning too. Why would they? Keep dreaming and, next time, learn how to be graceful winners (if there is a next time).

Chris Valenzano got thumped good and he deserved it. John McCain also got thumped - partially because he picked a loser for VP. McClintock is struggling in a predominently Republican area. Most people would learn from this.

Following your logic, Prop. 8 got thumped and it deserved it too, right Katie? No, that wouldn't be right would it because it didn't involve a Strickland or a Valenzano or any other Republican winning office. You claim to be a Republican and you voted for Obama, huh? OOOOOOOKKKKKKKK.....

What I do in the election booth is private - but obviously many, many Reps voted for Obama. I did vote for Mark Lisagor and made no secret of my belief that he was the much better candidate. Clearly, many others were of the same mindset.

It isn't a question of Rep. versus Dems but sane Reps versus nutcase Reps. I am one of the sane ones.
