Many Thanks to Everyone

I am so grateful to everyone who made this such a "fierce" race (according to the Signal). While we didn't win, we scored better than any previous Democrat in this District (45.2%) (We have never done better than 38% before) It shows that with continued organization and changing registration, this District can be won. Nearly 72,500 voters were with us. We were up against a "home-town boy" - professional politician who had scads of money from oil, Big Pharma, HMOs, developers, tobacco and alcohol and a voting record that shows it. We had incredible help from several unions, particularly the Operating Engineers Local 12, AFSCME, the Iron Workers and the Painters unions. We had about 150 volunteers who worked tirelessly. Special thanks to Dorri Raskin who volunteered countless hours and served as our Events Coordinator. Our campaign staff - Lynne Plambeck, Campaign Manager; Isaac Lieberman, Field Director and Rosemary Jenkins, Fundraising Director were incredible. A special tribute goes to Eric Bauman, chair LACDP and the Red Zone team who guided and supported us every step of the way and Lt. Gov. Garamendi, The Hon. Judy Chu, chair, Board of Equalization, Assemblywoman Julia Brownley and Assemblyman Bob Blumenfield who made our fundraiser a roaring success. Thank you, Jim Wisley, for your guidance and support. Special thanks to Matt Limke at Durkee & Assoc. who did such a fine job handling our finances. And Agi Kessler and all the DP/SFV volunteers that helped us so much. Also much gratitude to the many, many people who donated to our campaign and believed in us.

Time to Party!

Now it's time to have some fun and celebrate our hard work and victories. We will be having a Thank You party for all our supporters and volunteers at Mulligan's on December 7, 2008 from 5-8pm. Please come, have dinner and enjoy good fellowship. Mulligan's is at 25848 Tournament Rd. Valencia , 661-255-3356 (Take the McBean exit off the 5. Turn RIGHT, pass CalARTS, Turn RIGHT onto Tournament Rd, Go down a little hill and turn LEFT into the driveway just before the Lutheran Church. Mulligan's is at the end of the building that has the little Post Office.) It will mean so much to me to see you and thank you for all that you have done to help us.

Please Take Down Signs - Bounty Offered!

We need to get all our signs taken down. We've been patrolling all the major roads and hopefully we have gotten most of them down. It would be a great service if you would take down any signs you see since our district goes all the way out to Acton, La Cresenta, the edge of Glendale, the edge of Burbank, down to Devonshire and out to Simi. It's a huge district and I signed an agreement to get the signs down right away. (Also - please take down any Hannah Beth Jackson and Jackie Conaway signs)

Bring them to our celebration party on Dec. 7 and the person with the most signs will win a prize!

Please support our Campaign

During the last week of the Campaign, Smyth came out with some nasty hit mailers/ad/calls against us. (They were really scared of us to spend all that money on hit mailers and full page color ads attacking us.) His campaign manager wrote a letter to the editor that was a patent lie and generally we were attacked with lies and typical smears. We had to counter with the truth which entailed incurring some debt to pay for newspaper ads. We need money to pay off this debt. Please consider sending Lutness4Assembly a donation.
