What debates would you like to see prominent community members, activists, bloggers, campaign staff, elected officials, or other people locally debate?
My preference would be for issues that are local or have a local connection.
Here are some of my ideas:
1. Which party better represents the Decline to State (DTS) voters of Ventura County?
2. Which city is the most innovative, best run, or the most transparent in Ventura County?
3. What city has done the best in responding to growth?
4. Should party central committees get involved in nonpartisan races?
5. Which school district has been the most innovative in tough budget times?
Leave your other suggestions as a comment.
If you would like to participate in any of these, or other topics, send me an email.
Tomorrow night will be our inaugural event in the Thursday Night Debates that will be happening on this blog.
I will post an entry on our subject around 6PM.
It will include the guidelines and the like.
Then the debate will start at 6:30PM.
The debate is only between two people. For this debate Mike Gibson, former Ventura City Council candidate, and David Atkins, blogger George Soros employee, and political consultant, will be discussing if America is a center right nation.
I will post their bios and moderate the debate.
I will also have a few other entries up. One entry will be to discuss other debate subjects my readers are interested in for upcoming weeks and another will be to give feedback to and thoughts on the debate.
Thanks for reading my blog.

Republicans love the word "center". It is their way of avoiding the reality of how far they have fallen. If a Republican fell off a cliff they would consider themselves center top of the cliff.
It doesn't seem like much of a challenge for David Atkins.
Should be a fun debate--looking forward to it!
heh heh I read that too fast I thought you said the debate was Mel Gibson against David Atkins

I wouldn't have gotten seats this close to the ring if I knew it was going to be this bloody.
Mike Gibson's comments are the typical "read my lips" Sarah Palin cookie cutter comments. That being said I have respect for him for taking on the challenge.
George Bush Jr. is on record for saying his greatest achievement as President was to try and privatize social security. His greatest achievement is an achievement he couldn't achieve and if he could have would destroyed America's elderly.
When Republicans refer to "small government" they mean "small enough for them to manipulate". The banking industry is in the mess it is in because of lack of oversight and accountability. I don't see how making the government smaller would help that.
The healthcare industry needs transparency. A patient doesn't know what they will be charged for medical services until the end of their treatment. If healthcare facilities had to post on the internet what they charge for their services they would have to make their prices competitive. That would lower costs. Today the healthcare industries get paid when they cut someone open not when they make someone healthy. Healthcare professionals pay should be determined by a patients positive outcomes not for unnecessary surgeries, MRI's or directing patients to expensive specialists.
what about compean and ramos, there is a large log to turn over on this issue,,who will turn it?
Am I correct to assume you favor clemency or pardons for them?
I am willing to host it but I will need to look for someone to represent the other side. Anyone in mind?
