I haven't done much studying or reading over the proposed prison hospital in Camarillo except a few newspaper articles and some talk radio. But if you want an in-depth resource go to the website for the Prison Hospital Action Committee.

Is there any local group organized to support building of the hospital?
If it isn't built in Camarillo because of local opposition would it be built elsewhere in Ventura County?
Is there any group that wants to mitigate the problems the prison could cause instead of trying to stop it altogether?
I never thought I'd be making such a statement as this, but I certainly hope Attorney General Moonbeam gets his way and has the State prison health care receivership dissolved.
Ayatollah Kelso has just gotten completely out of control. His $8 billion gold-plated plan to build seven new prison hospitals in California, including one in Camarillo, at a time when the State is facing a $42 billion budget gap, is a joke, to say the least.
I don't expect Emperor Thelton Henderson to agree with Brown and Schwartznegger that we need to pull the plug on Kelso and return the control of the prison health care system to the State Department of Corrections (where it belongs), but stranger things have happened.
Maybe his judgeship will start looking at the practical side of things, for a change, rather than imposing judicial fiat on the people of California. Stay tuned to this one...
Well, I see Czar Kelso has finally gotten the message by agreeing to scale back his Taj Mahal prison construction plan. It looks like Camarillo will probably get dropped as one of the prison sites as well. Hip, hip, hooray!!!
Thanks go out to Audra Strickland and the other Ventura County officials, as well as the citizens' coalition, and all the members of the public who fought long and hard to defeat this thing. Good riddance!!!
You might want to mention the governor and attorney general who were also opposed to the plan.
