Hey Mike,

Thanks for debating Dailykos.com blogger David Atkins in my first Thursday night Live event. As a way of saying thank you here is your campaign announcement for the Ventura City Council elections. When you get a chance send me in a photo to use for the upcoming election season.

Here is the announcement:

Not to take any of the wind out of Peter's sails, but another exciting announcement (a little closer to home for me) is on the verge of being made.

My husband, Mike Gibson, will be throwing his hat in the ring for another run at Ventura City Council this November. Our whole family and many in the community we've spoken with are absolutely thrilled that Mike is going to run again and we will be supporting him 1000%. We are all looking forward to an exciting, tough, and engaging race. One that is going to rely heavily on input from the community at large and will be a an opportunity to lend voice to a community that is growing more dissatisfied and disillusioned by the day with our current City Council who have made some horrendous decisions over the past couple of years, some of which have made our collective heads spin:

The 911 fee fiasco; losing $10 million in bad investments of taxpayer dollars; raising utility rates on seniors and the poor by 14%, with no regard for the consequences of this action on these poor folks and their personal finances during an economic recession; enhanced retirement benefits for city firefighters while the rest of the folks in the community are barely hanging onto their jobs; doing their best to discourage Walmart from coming to town, which would have brought in an extra $1 million a year in new tax revenue; scaring off potential businesses and retailers by the ill-conceived, anti-economic growth Victora Corridor Plan (which they are scheduled to approve on Feb 23rd); wasting untold taxpayer dollars on unneeded consultants, like the $110,000 they approved for "technical assistance" the view task force (a task force that wasn't needed in the first place).

This is just a partial list of the bungling efforts and gross mismanagement that has been carried out by these so-called City leaders the past few years.

As a family, we will be committing all the personnel, consulting, and financial resources necessary this time to ensure that Mike does a great job in this race. He was a bit disappointed at his showing last time, but has vowed to make a much stronger go of it this time, including much more precinct-walking, getting out to all the events to meet people in the community first-hand, producing and direct-mailing many, many more flyers to get his message out to the community, and airing several radio ads to reach every area of the community possible.

Mike's nephew (an IT whiz at Chapman College) is already developing an interactive web site, modeled after the one Barack Obama used so effectively in his election to solicit donations and volunteers.

As I said before, no expenses will be spared as we are prepared to put up a significant amount of our own personal resources towards this effort. It is that important to Mike and, as he put himself, extremely important to the future of this community that he loves and cares about so nuch. We have already spoken to quite a few friends in the business community who have committed to making donations to his campaign and will be looking towards many of our colleagues in the Ventura County Republican Central Committee for financial contributions and other support. We have estimated that this effort will take at least $50,000 to do right.

Let me tell you, that he was not very excited about the prospects of running another campaign until recently. We had a heart-to-heart, serious family meeting at the end of last week, based on the issues that have been festering in this community over the last two years, based on the continued failed policies of this City Council and the City administration. Myself, and my three grown children looked him straight in the eye and asked him if he could possibly sit by and let this continue unabated without at least trying to initiate some changes in the elected body of our City to get things moving again in the right direction.

He looked and us and shook his head slowly. "You're right. I can't sit it out," he responded. "I've got to try and do something to get our City back on track."

I think he's getting used to the idea already. He's even roped me into being his campaign treasurer already!

Feel free to pass on any thoughts or comments to Mike's e-mail address at: mgibson1856@yahoo.com

Thanks and God bless you all!

There is no bigger loser than this guy who posts as Mongo Flamo night and day on this blog. The County of Santa Barbara employee who blogs from work and then screams about wasting taxpayer dollars. What a joke.

WOW, what a candidate announcement.

Was this approved by the candidate or was it a passionate announcement by a loving and supportive wife...if it was approved by the candidate, is this message consistent with his message and campaign platform? Will your wife be making public annoucements and editorials for you when you are in office? Will your wife be a paid campaign consultant for the campaign, much like the Strickland's practice of having each other serve as campign consultants when they run for office

Here's my observation from this press release-
I am Mike Gibson, I have a campaign Strategy, I will spend more money this time, the VCRCC will support me, I failed miserably in the last race and I will do a better job this time...in other words, back off I have money and the VCRCC is financing my campaign, and God is on my side.

Where is the humility, finesse and diplomacy?

I believe Gibson needs a campaign consultant and the realization that posts on the Internet will come back to haunt you.

I have no comment on the legitimacy of Mr. Gibsons Candidacy but I would hope that in the future he tells us what he stands for and not simply that which he stands against. Its easy to throw stones but much harder to come up with reasonable solutions to the problems of our times.

Just having a website and fundraising strategy does not a candidate make.

Gibson has played the role of a hate nut over the last year and now wants voters to support him for an elected position. Gibson has posted here and on other blogs as a weirdo to the point of scaring women when he has behaved as a stalker. Now, once again, he wants to be on the City Council. Gibson should spend a few years in therapy before running again. If ever a man was in need of mental help, it is this guy who has hidden behind Mongo for a long time.

King Mob,

Mike will have a lot of suggestions for improving City government, believe me. He is currently in Washington, D.C., visting some friends of ours. He will be back mid-week and I am sure he will have a lot to say then. Thanks so much for your interest though.

Don't know what to make of your comments, CAP-845. I do realize there are quite a few weird ones out there, so I'll leave it for Mike to handle them with his legendary directness and humor. You should try and stay focused on the positive and the hopeful, my friend. It it not so good for your karmic balance to be so angry and hostile all the time.

My husband loves people. This will become very evident once the campaign kicks into high gear.

In the mean time, God love you and keep you.

Sue

Sue you might want to know that foul posts made by Mr. Gibson that Brian, Helen and Marie have had to remove from their blogs still exist on servers with IP addresses matching posts made under Mike Gibson's own name. There is a backup system. Technology doesn't lie.

I fully recognize that politics can be a blood sport at times. Sometimes, you have to get nasty with people when they start indiscriminately attacking your integrity, your honesty, and your family for pure political gain. Wouldn't you say? No one does this more effectively than Michael. He's has a lot of practice at it as a trial lawyer for about 9 years in L.A. Superior Court. He graduated from Loyola Law School in L.A. in 1987. But, he despised practicing law -- too rigid and stifles creativity is what he told me at the time. He wanted out.

Michael is a New Yorker, born and bred, as am I. We both have a cultural predisposition to tell it like it is, with no punches pulled. In watching those namby-pamby talk fests that are held very Monday night over at City Hall I am most disappointed at the lack of real debate and honest expression of differing views that never seems to occur by the Council members, because they're far too busy kissing each others asses to get into very much substantive discussions on the real issues.

Hell, they didn't even allow hands to be clapped in the Council Chamber for fear of "intimidating" a few momma's boys in the audience. Am I right? Are we simply catering to a few woosies who were never told how they scored on the soccer field either because it may have played havoc with their self-esteem? It probably would have served them much better in life, however.

Anyway, I digress. You will never elect a more dedicated, hard-working, energized, motivated, person to the Ventura City Council, I have been married to this man for 24 years and he is all of those qualilities I have describe here and much, much more. That part's private though.

You will not be disappointed if he is elected to serve this community on the City Council. Ome of the things I should forewarn all of you candidates about is his desire to speak at twice the number of candidates' forums that were done in 2007. He claimed we never scracthed the service in terms of all the community groups that you all should be speaking to.

This is the first thing I would encourage Michael to change once he's elected. No More silent applause. This is un-American and down right weird. It's taking political correctness to a new level.

Well, better sign off now. Don't want anyone accusing me of becoming the new Cathy Carlson.

But Gibson attacks just for fun, "Sue." How about this one:

"I hope this b----[expletive deleted] runs again in 2012 so that she can get ground into the dirt again, this time by Jeff Gorrell. What a friggin' three-time loser!!!

Mr. Gibson,

Please ignore all the trash on the internet and don't attack back as that doesn't help at all. Instead focus on issues.

Ventura is trying to shut down massage parlors because of fears that some of them are places where other things happen. What do you think? Is it a major problem in Ventura?

Here's another pearl from our council candidate Gibson:

"You kiddin' me, bro? They would have gotten the livin' sh-- [expletive deleted] kicked out of them if they'd gone down to First A.M.E Church in South Central. They were sticking to the young, polite white boys in their pressed slacks, white shirts, and ties. The odds are much better, don't you
know?"

Mrs. Gibson,

I heard over and over from people in Ventura that they don't like the VCRCC or Mike Osborne.

Also it has been very obvious to me your husband's core political beliefs are very Bush Republican.

Question:
If your husband loses is he going to pay the contributors back or is he going to keep the money?

The anti-women, anti-Gay, anti-Dem, anti-etc. displayed by Mongo is very alarming. He also lies. He also denies he is Mike Gibson. Mike Gibson denies he is Mongo. I suspect the truth on this matter will come out.

Neal Andrews is on the Central Committee so if money is spent on Mike Gibson, it will also have to be spent on Neal. And Jim Monahon is also a Republican so he will also want $$$$. Brian B. has the Dem pipeline. Ed Summers is also running.

Should make for a very interesting election.

Nobody:

On your question on campaign contributions, I think the way it typically works, according to state campaign finance law, is that the contributions are first used to pay back personal or other loans made to the campaign and then the candidate has the option of either retaining them in the campaign account for future campaigns, disbursing them to other candidates or political committees or funds, or returning them to donors.

Great question though and I will certainly have Michael respond to it in more depth when he returns.

Ms. Teague:

The whole Mongo thing I don't believe is an issue at all. People use pseudonyms on blogs all the time, sometimes intentionally to discredit others. There has been a healthy amount of this going on on Brian Dennert's blog, from what I've read and heard. So, the truth I believe will ultimately be in the eye of the beholder.

Regarding your comments on donations from the Republican Central Committee, I agree with you 100%. The Committee will obviously have to decide who and how much they want to contribute to and, Neal being a member, of course may have a leg up on contributions. I have stated very clearly though that, although we will be running an aggressive fundraising campaign, we are prepared to put significant personal resources into this campaign as well.

Thanks for your comments and arrivederci to all!

Mongo - er,Gibson participated in the last CAPC candidate forum. Will he boycott this time saying it is an ambush? Or will he show up in a Mongo suit?

Will his IT whiz nephew declare the "in kind" contribution to the campaign, and at the same time stay within the campaign limits?

Does he really believe he can buy this election?
Will the public appreciate his intimidation tactics? Usually that's a tactic used to keep people from running. Too late - there's already a full slate.

Will people be turned off by Gibson using his wife as his spokeperson rather than speaking for himself? That's is so 50's.

Stop the charade! I smell scandal.

Look at an article from this site in 2007.

http://www.venturacountystar.com/news/2007/oct/19/unknown-candidate-has-business-agenda/

Look at his educational background provided on the left side of the article (in his Bio). It doesn't match up to what his wife was saying.

Why?

I don't know if Mongo is Gibson...or vice versa. Heck, I'm not even sure Gibson is Gibson given the link provided by Rebel (nice work there!).

I've said it before, I'm no fan of anonymous posting. The Star won't let you do it in the hardcopy newspaper so why here? I just think it's a bad policy that permits, even encourages the "flaming" that goes on in these boards.

Anyway, it's not like I would consider voting for this guy Gibson anyway, but the first thing his campaign should do is pull the plug on his wife's computer.

The more she goes on the more certain I am that Gibson would be the last person I'd consider voting for.

I will put an end to this speculation so we can all start acting like grown-ups: Mike Gibson, former city council candidate, does indeed post as Mongo Flamo on my blog, Brian's blog and Helen's blog. He has admitted it online several times and has sent me personal email admitting it also. Normally I protect the identity of my bloggers, but since he's publicly admitted it, I see no reason to continue the masquerade.

He has also posted as many other pseudonyms. He enjoys blogging and has a mean streak and a very warped sense of humor online which I have not found amusing.

He has posted numerous things directed at me personally on several blogs which were of a sexually harassing nature. Some have been removed from comments, others have not. One, posted in July of 2007, was quite graphic.

After the last incident, worried about what he would do next, I went out and bought a very expensive mobile device so I could check comments remotely. Then my "overseer" at the Star offered to set it up so Gibson's comments went through my spam filter. I gladly accepted this offer.

Given Mr. Gibson's capricious ways, I wonder if this announcement from his wife is even legitimate. I wonder if that is even his wife blogging and not the man himself.

While he has publicly apologized to me, this is not the sort of behavior I would expect from anyone who is running for a public office. This speaks to serious, serious errors in judgment.

I have not been entirely happy with my venture into the blogosphere. The anonymous nature of the medium lets people post scathing, inaccurate things which do a great disservice to our public discourse. Mike Gibson has been the very worst sort of violator of this. No amount of money will buy you honor, Mr. Gibson. That will need to be earned.

Gibson has always behaved as a hate monger. Now we see someone posting as his wife who only has one oar in the water. What happened to Gibson? Why in the heck would his wife want to announce his candidacy and then entertain us on this blog? If it is indeed his wife, it all makes sense. She is as big a psycho as he is. Next to last in the previous election? Last for sure in the next one.

Marie, don't be a cry baby. You are tough as nails, with a tear here and there, so suck it up and deal with it. Did you really think your blog was for only the well healed of Ventura? You are bound to come across a nut now and again. After ail, you and I found each other.

Given Marie's extremely biased and over the top commentary here and on her own blog, I would advise everyone to take her comments with a hefty grain of salt. She seems a tad obsessed, if you ask me (disturbingly so).

Also, as the chief apologist for the Ventura City Council, she obviously has ulterior motives behind her every word.

With regard to this City Council race, I welcome any and all comers. We can certainly do better than who we have.

Sorry Ventura Voter - I have been lied to directly. There is no place for liars in elected office.

Whether you're for or against Gibson, this campaign won't be won or lost on the blogosphere. It will be decided on the campaign trail, in the media, and whether Venturans feel a change is needed in the direction the city is going.

I started the blog at the request of the Star. They were looking for someone to write commentary about Ventura. Because of my heavy involvement in community activities (president of two large, well-respected organizations, secretary of another, plus I'm a city commissioner and board member of other groups), they asked me. I also worked there a long time as a reporter/editor.

I agreed because what I see out on the blogosphere is so negative and counterproductive. My reporting is extremely accurate and differs little from what Kevin and Timm produce. I am allowed to throw my own commentary in. Indeed, that is the very nature of blogging. But I would not characterize it as over the top at all.

But the attacks have been very difficult to take, yes. CAP, I am tough but even the tough get weary.

Katie, you act so surprised that people in politics lie. Based on what's gone on recently in Illinois and Washington DC, it should not come as a big shocker.

I haven't even decided if I'll be voting for Gibson or not. Way too early for that. My point was simply that we need change in Ventura. Whoever I end up deciding on will have to earn my vote.

The election won't about me, you, Marie, or whoever. It will be about who makes the most compelling case for a change in course at City Hall.

Get Real - scandal will impact endorsements and outside money. Rants on a public blog are a big, big mistake and he has been cautioned many times. There are three strikes now - the media knows, most elected officials know and Ventura doesn't support right-wing Republicans. But I do have a bridge in Brooklyn....

Most people do not vote for liars (unless their wallets will benefit).

I don't live in Ventura but do own a business there. The incumbents won quite handily in the last election. I expect most will do so this go around. The people that should be voting pro-business rarely do with the excuse being they are outnumbered.

Lying and hate speech does not not make for a compelling case for change. But maybe there is a candidate out there who does have the money and the inclination to run and hopefully he or she will announce their run on this blog.

Why?

I posted this above but nobody responded! We need an explanation!!

Wow, you're right, Rebel. Maybe he was hiding his trial lawyer background before? Maybe this is all bogus.

But what's really funny is look at the comment below the story. He posted himself that he is the cutest candidate?

Definitely the cutest of all the candidates!

Oh, oh, Katie felt she was lied to. Better cancel the campaign, Mike. She also admits she doesn't even live in Ventura. Just sounds like someone with a personal grudge to me.

"Jill Dominque" thought he was hot. She was always commenting on how hot she thought he was - but then Jill Dominque was a made up name.

Mr.Gibson,

Please forgot the trash talk, either directed at you or at your critics, and answer my question:

By Citizen 93001 on February 8, 2009 1:21 AM

Mr. Gibson,

Please ignore all the trash on the internet and don't attack back as that doesn't help at all. Instead focus on issues.

This guy seems to subscribe to the old Oscar Wilde quote -- "Any publicity is good publicity."

And, unfortunately, it seems to be working well for him. All these people who seem fascinated with this guy, just keep posting. You're giving him exactly what he wants -- free publicity!

Why, you are correct, Laughing, I do believe "Jill Dominique" posted this originally under his Star article. But what happens with the Star's story comments is if you change your name online it goes back in and changes all your posts to your new name.

So the true identity of Jill Dominique is also revealed. Jill, who panted and pined for Gibson on the blogs when he ran last time was also Gibson.

What fun treasures are to be found in the Star's online archives. Let's look for more.

Why is it that none of you want to discuss policy?

This reminds me of when Mike Dunn's wife sent out an "email" on behalf of her husband. It has the same tone.

I did get a good laugh out of her describing her husband's "legendary" directness and humor.

Legendary??

Much like the misuse of the words famous and infamous, I think a better description would be notorious.

Greetings, everyone.

First of all, I’d like to thank Brian for posting this announcement and for my wife, Sue, for all her efforts in putting it together and responding to some of the initial comments from the readers.

Although I don’t plan on responding to any of the stupid stuff or engaging the negativity, I look forward to responding to any and all serious and legitimate questions that are posed on this blog site and elsewhere upon my return from D.C. on Wednesday.

But, first and foremost, let me say that I am very excited about my entry into the upcoming Ventura City Council race. I know this announcement comes very early in the process, but I felt that I needed to get started as soon as possible this time to get ahead of the curve and start soliciting comments and feedback from the community on what they feel are the most important areas of concern for them and what I can do to help us find a way forward in making us a stronger, safer, and more economically secure city. I feel I have a lot to offer in these areas and am fully committed to putting forth all the time, energy, and creativity necessary to help get us there.

My sense is that there is a significant amount of dissatisfaction and disillusion in the community right now about the current direction the city is moving in and the insensitivity of the current City Council to these concerns. One only has to watch the public comments at any given Monday night City Council meeting to pick up on the widespread discontent prevalent in the community over many of the issues outlined in my campaign announcement.

While I certainly appreciate and commend the current City Council for the time and effort they have put in trying to respond to and address these concerns, I just believe their efforts have fallen short, due in large part to a philosophical bent that does not align well with the current social and economic challenges in our community.

I believe this community is ready for change and so am I. That is why I have decided to run for City Council.

I realize this will be a challenging undertaking and I’m under no illusion that it will be easy. I am fully cognizant of the power of incumbency. But, I am prepared for it none the less. Our community deserves an alternative to the failed policies of this City Council over the last several years. I believe I offer much hope and promise in this area. I will be releasing a position paper within the next couple of months outlining my vision and proposed strategies and action plan for the city to help position us for a better and brighter future. I look forward to engaging our citizens in these proposed plans to help move us forward as a community.

I’d like to close by again thanking my family and friends for this wonderful opportunity. I feel truly honored and blessed to have the chance to serve this city I am so proud to call my home.

Warmest regards,

Mike

Sorry Gibson, but no one wants you on the City Council! Besides, being on the Council would cut back on your time with the Christian Coalition.

Mr. Gibson,

Should the voters conclude a vote for Mike Gibson is a vote for WalMart?

MR. GIBSON,
DO THESE COMMENTS LOOK FAMILIAR TO YOU:
---------------------------------------------
QUESTION:
HOW DO YOU TELL A DEMOCRAT FROM A REPUBLICAN

December 27, 2008 at 12:03 pm
24. If you’re uncapable of putting together a coherent sentence.

25. You have to be let out of jail to vote.

26. You don’t even know there’s an election till ACORN gives you a cigarette and tells you how to vote.

27. You put down your bottle of wine and get off your park bench to get on a bus to vote.

Gibson is one weird ducky. He behaves as a hate monger for a couple of years on this and other blogs using Mongo and a host of other names to hide his identity, only to now come out trying to sell himself as a reasonable citizen of Ventura just trying to listen objectively to the community concerns. Bull. Gibson Mongo is a nut case and lacks any credibility. He and apparently his wife should move to North Dakota, in a small town, and start over. Everyone serves another chance. Save your family further embarrassment Gibson and don't pull papers. North Dakota is calling.

Mike:

In the interest of blog comity, civil, yet spirited discourse, and cyber-transparency let me say that I’ve never met you, and could care less if you post under one or more blog pseudonyms.

After all, Hamilton, Jay and Madison offered spirited arguments in favor of the adoption of the United States Constitution in the Federalist Papers using pseudonyms, and political history was kind to them..

Although if you do happen to be Mongo Flamo, then you and I have gone head-to-head on more than one issue in the past, and we’re very likely to do so in the future.

Better keep your cyber-powder dry Mike, you may very well need it. In fact, as Sarah Palin is fond of saying, “..You betcha..

So be it.. I'm neither shocked nor intimidated by your strong posts. After all, that's what good political debate should be about. Many different and strong-willed views on public policy, spirited, but civil disagreement over the strategies, tactics, means and methods to achieve the best public policy, and ultimately, fair and competitive elections in which each candidate's ideas are tested by the voters in the marketplace of political ideas.

After every election, there will always be winners and losers. That’s the nature of politics. Harry S. Truman, one the greatest Presidents, and my kind of Democrat, said it best, "..If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.." He also said that in politics, if you want a friend, "...get a dog.." Cest la guerre politique!

Regardless of your party registration, on a personal note, the best of luck to you and congratulations for the support shown by your wife and family. Ultimately, your wife and family are what matter, and they will be your anchor when everyone, including those who now eagerly call themselves your political friends and allies, dessert you in an instant when the proverbial political stuff hits the fan..

Further, you and your wife appear to possess what we Italians call "Stugotts," for announcing your candidacy on Brian Dennert's blog site. Especially since both Marie, Katie, and others, hate your political guts, viscerally.

And, perhaps, from their point of view, for good reason... I’m certainly in no position to judge, nor would I. It is prudent for all posters on this blog to consider the wisdom of Matthew 7:1 before we rush to cyber-judgment.

After all, this is America, and we all have First Amendment rights…Thank God for that..

We'll just have to see whether or not your political vision, platform and positions on the issues of the day in the Ventura City Council election resonate with a sufficient number of Ventura voters to result in you your election to the City Council this November..

Personally, for purely sporting political reasons, I look forward to an interesting City Council campaign, with many spirited debates, both on the blog-sites, and in public forums.

In fact, given the tenor of our times, I'm hoping that ALL candidates insist on debating each other, and not undergoing a sanitized me-too, round-robin candidates forum conducted by well meaning, but rather boring moderators…Zzzzzz!

May the best candidates, regardless of party registration win..

However, after having said that, with apologies to Clemenceau, “..the political outcome of elections may be far too important to entrust to the voters..

NostraDemus

Hmm...the Mikester makes an appearance.

As if...being out of town..jeeze, is it just me, or does being able to log on to the Internet from virtually anywhere and post for yourself keep you from putting out your own remarks?

So sez sistah Sue:

"Mike will have a lot of suggestions for improving City government, believe me. He is currently in Washington, D.C., visting some friends of ours. He will be back mid-week and I am sure he will have a lot to say then. Thanks so much for your interest though."

Golly gee whillikers! You betcha!

Mike, gotta say, you should have said it yourself. Call this campaign error number one.

If you really are "Mongo", you are clearly not shy about posting. If you are not, then you are certainly more reticent than the spousal unit about speaking up for yourself....gotta wonder about that dude.

Wow, judging by all the nut jobs speaking out against Gibson here (References to specific people accused of being nuts deleted.), my decision is becoming easier.

At least the guy is making an effort to reach out to the community and get their thoughts and ideas before proposing any changes or new approaches in how the city does business (which is horrible right now).

My brother-in-law has been trying to get some action from the city staff dating back to September 2008 to have some trees trimmed that are encroaching into his property from a hillside behind his home that belongs to the private property owner at the Ralph's shopping center down below (Montalvo Shopping Center). A monthly maintenance assessment fee is being charged to each and every one of us who live up in Promontory Pointe above the shopping center for many months now.

Now, Chandra in the City's Land Development section, tells me the city needs some sort of deed or easement document executed by the property management company's attorney in order for the City to be able to dispatch maintenance crews to go in there and do the work the residents have been paying for for months now. Why wasn't the City working towards getting these legal documents squared away prior to the hillside becoming a jungle?

I mentioned this situation to Mike and he wanted to storm down to City Hall right away and get some answers. I talked to him about a lower key approach of calling the Land Development Division back in a couple of weeks and following up on their progress. He would hear none of it, however, and immediately jumped in his car and rolled off like a ball of fire towards City Hall to confront Rick Cole on that the heck was going on? Not sure how much progress he made, but I did admire his willingness to take the bull by the horns and instill a sense of urgency in our city bureaucrats. He has a relentless personality when it comes to these things and is intimidated by absolutely no one.

I think that's the kind of City Council member he would be and I, for one, will be supporting him to the best of my ability and my family will be voting for him as well in November. He's a "get 'er done" kind of guy and is not fond of lame excuses from bureaucrats. That's what I feel we need much more of in our elected representatives in Ventura.

Yet another kook running for city council in Ventura. Like we needed one more? And it looks like the poor fella is now resorting to writing in under different aliases to defend himself. Poor dear.

Too me one of the biggest hypocrocies is posting to this blog about not raising taxes and cutting spending - all on company time - paid for by the taxpayer. That is just wrong and that is why our budget is so disasterous.

Let's start a game of keeping track of Gibson's posting alter egos. So far we have:

1. Mongo Flamo
2. Jill Dominique
3. Susan Gibson
4. Get Real

You forgot Ventura Voter.

In reading Marie's post, it seems like her blog policy is to "out you" if you dare to disagree with her or "harass" her somehow on her's or other blogs. Scooter Libby couldn't have done it better.

So much for journalistic integrity. Hope you're paying attention -- juendeveras, John Doe, NostraDemus, et al...

Looks like she only outs creeps who have already outed themselves.

Mike Gibson outed himself earlier. Most of the regulars know this.

Re: his fake screen names. I would apply the 80/20 rule. 80% of the extremists rants are done by him - often on the taxpayer dime. That's why posting under your real name is so valuable. It allows the reader to seperate the wheat from the chaff.

Easy on Marie, Scooter Lakin. I've never known her to "out" anyone, no matter how wacko they might be. Gibson outed himself, numerous times. He is a nut job bar none. No one has threatened women to the degree he has. No one has demonstrated the hate to women and minorities to the degree he has. Gibson should be allowed to blog, but we should be allowed to keep this psycho from becoming an elected official. Gibson and his sidekick Osborn are on the way out.

CAP,
If we could harness the energy from all your bra burning we could eliminate our Nation's dependence on foreign oil. Please give Mike a chance to answer the questions. Mrs. Gibson had me starting to like Mike and who am I to give someone a hard time for what their fingers say.

Looks like somebody got a taste of his own medicine.

Mike Gibson should be allowed to post in the Stars blog, but only under his own name. His constant posting under different handles gives him a voice well beyond the support he actually has. If the Star continues to allow him to post under multiple handles it is the same support of the local Republicans they are showing by not releasing the pictures of Joel Angeles knocking down senior citizens and school girls. It is hiding thugs from the light of day.

In addition, the diatribe posted by his "wife" shows a fundamental lack of understanding of issues in his own city and shows his naivete as an keyboard critic. The venom of the posts here is beginning to make me feel a little sorry for the guy, but since he has apparently shown no mercy to others in this regard, perhaps it will serve as a lesson to him.

I'm so glad I found this site...Keep up the good work

Just wanted to drop you a line to say, I enjoy reading your site. I thought about starting a blog myself but don't have the time.
Oh well maybe one day.... :)
