I Defend Rush Limbaugh

I was reading a Huffingtonpost.com article ridiculing the many racist, sexist, and/or dumb things Rush Limbaugh has said in his many years on the radio when I found an inaccurate quote. I emailed the author asking them what their source or when the comment was made and within minutes he emailed me back and issued a correction.

The ability for blogs to be at times more accurate and responsible is impressive. In a print edition a retraction is going to be lost on a back page somewhere.

Anyways, Rush Limbaugh has said some real despicable things over the years but that wasn't one of them.

Help me out. I wanted to correct the record but let's not ignore the long record Rush Limbaugh has of saying inaccurate and despicable comments.

Do you think the Democrats tactic of making Rush Limbaugh the unofficial spokesperson for the Republican Party was a smart plan?

With the long record of humor at the expense of the weak and outrageous behavior I wouldn't want him to be seen as a spokesperson for anything I was involved in. His approval is lower than the popularity of Rev. Jeremiah Wright!

Thanks to the Huffingtonpost for the quick correction.

I am so sick and tired of liberals attacking Rush! So what if Rush just had his third divorce, so what if he is addicted to vicadin and viagra, so what if he was kicked off Sunday Morning NFL Countdown for racist statements, so what if he makes fun of people with Parkinsons, so what if he is obese, as long as he spews lies against the left he should be left alone!

From FAIR ---> Here is Limbaugh's mocking take on the NAACP, a group with a 90-year commitment to nonviolence: "The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies."

"Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?"

“Feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream.”

It's simple - if you don't like Rush - don't listen to him. He isn't any different than Howard Stern - just a radio personality. Stern had his moments too.

I think the handling of Rush as leader of the Republican party was really mishandled. Which was to the Dems advantage...again...

Katie Teague,

I would agree if there was a call to remove him from the radio by government force that would be wrong and unamerican.

But that isn't what the attacks on him are trying to do. They are trying to show he is a major force in the Republican Party.

Both Stern and Limbaugh are radio personalities that say shocking things for ratings. The difference is that only Limbaugh is asked to address party activists and gets to interview Republican leaders frequently.

Why is it so hard for Republicans to call it as they see it with his wild statements?

I'm a Republican and I don't listen to him and I expect there are many more like me.

But I have to go on record in agreeing that Jesse Jackson is a crook.

The Republicans can't find a real politician so they are using someone that plays one on the radio....

Katie,

There are very few like you. Trust me on that one...

Katie Teague,

I am not a fan of Jesse Jackson but what Limbaugh said is that every crook looks like him.

I'm sure he has said worse! But as bad as he is, Ann Coulter is worse. I cannot believe some of the stuff she has said.

Ann Coulter is a humorist and a conservative political commentator. Obviously, Katie gets neither her sense of humor nor her conservative viewpoints. What would one expect from a flaming liberal like her?

Few Like you,

When I see Ann Coulter on television I understand it is because it is compelling television to many to watch her say crazy things. But if I didn't know the media was only in it for the ratings I would assume they were trying to make Republicans look bad by choosing her to represent conservatism. There are many more educated, very well reasoned, and compelling conservatives out there that can attract more people to your party.

You might find her funny and she is sharp with the turn of a phrase but she hasn't helped grow the conservative movement in recent years with her attempts to get attention by saying trash like some 9/11 widows were enjoying the death of their husbands or after 9/11 that "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity.

If you really want to make her the spokesperson for your party, than us your real name. Katie is outspoken in her views of the leadership of her party but I don't see your evidence that she supports many liberal policy positions.

Brian,

By Katie's constant and consistent criticisms of anything Republican or conservative, her liberal attitude speaks for itself, wouldn't you say?

Few Like You,

Being critical of an organization doesn't make a person any less dedicated to their causes. In fact, it might be just the opposite.

Here's an example: I am critical of many issues in public education. But that is because I know that public education is a radical force that gives opportunity to so many people. Education is the best defense of liberty we have in our nation. That's why while I support public education I critical when we don't do our best.

If she feels the same over conservatism then I would expect her to keep speaking up. Her arguments should only attract attention if there is elements of truth to them. If they are unimportant and misinformed then they should either be confronted or ignored.

Thanks for reading my blog.

Thank Brian, obviously Few Like You is very angry and is getting his jollies by personally attacking a Republican instead of addressing the probems in the party. As quoted in one of your latest threads, "California GOP registration is dropping like a rock". Few Like You is an embodiment of why. Anonymous attacks against women and other minorities within the party.

Just becauase I'm not an old, angry, religious, white guy doesn't mean I'm not a conservative Republican!

Your last comment is quite interesting, Katie. I'm actually a 36-year-old Hispanic. I believe in God but I'm not overly religious. So much for your stereotyping remarks.

Well I'm married to an emergency room doctor and I'm tired of both Ann's and Rush's anti-women, anti-immigration, anti everything non-Christian crap.
