ALL politicians, repulsicans and democraps, are lying cheating stealing traitorous dirtbag scum.
In 2010;
Vote against all incumbents
Vote against termed out scum running for higher office.
Vote against spouses of termed out scum.
Vote 3rd party whenever possible.
When no 3rd party candidates are available, write in "NONE OF THE ABOVE"
San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom is by far the best choice to govern California through what we know will be years of challenges requiring tough decisions. As a leader who is not afraid to do what is right even when it conflicts with what is politically expedient, Newsom is the right at the right time.
I beleive the Democrat field will be Newsom/Brown/and a couple of candidates to be named later... If Sen. Feinstein throws her hat in the ring I suspect the others will stand down.
The Republican field doesn't really matter; unless they nominate Jesus Christ himself, they will only carry 40% of the vote on a great day.
Newsom and Brown are both way too liberal for most California voters. They will most likely go with a moderate Republican, like Tom Campbell or Meg Whitman.
Newsom shot himself in the foot with his ardent opposition to Prop. 8, which the majority of Californians voted in favor of. In fact, his support helped the measure pass.
Brown is still strongly identified with his "moonbeam" past. He is the Michael Jackson of politicians and way too eccentric, controversial, and liberal for most voters in California.
Very well, I'll play along with your guessing game.
Niehls Bohr, the great Danish atomic physicist once said, "..Prediction is very difficult, especially about the future.." And who am I to argue with the Great Niehls Bohr?
Nonetheless, here's NostraDemus' electoral prediction regarding the winners of the 2010 Gubenitorial Primary:
United States Senator Dianne Feinstein for the Democrats, and
Ventura County Supervisor Peter Foy for the Republicans..
On Primary Night 2010, remember y'all heard it here first. Straight from NostraDemus' cyber-lips to Brian Dennert's blogging ears...
The rumor is that Peter Foy is preparing to run for governor. In a Republican primary he will become the darling of the social conservatives, who still run the state party. You will see some endorsement switches, but it won't be a stampede. In a four-way primary, with only one social conservative, and also catching the anti-tax wave could give him an advantage. But in the end he would lose California, just like Bill Simon, Dan Lundgren and Bill Jones because of his social positions. It's getting to be a boring re-run.
I pray that Newsom is the Democratic nominee ("It's gonna happen, whether you like it or not!" -- still rings fondly in my ears).
San Francisco is not a microcosm of the State of California. Rather, it is an aberration. I predict whoever the Republicans nominate will walk away with it, if Gavvin Newsom is their opponent.
As a moderate Democrat, I believe that Newsom would drive the state even further into the ground. And that's assuming that he'd even win the election. Newsom is a far left winger with limited accomplishments in the realm of economics.
Besides, his extremely liberal social policies will repel many independents and moderate Republicans.
The VCRCC is the OPEC of Koolaid if they think Foy could beat Newsome. Newsome has been tested by some of the greatest minds in the world by being the governor of S.F..
The voters are willing to make concessions to elect someone that's a winner. Newsome's baggage is a carry on looking at the big picture.
No way will Newsom be elected on a statewide basis. Moonbeam Brown would have a better chance.
I think the voters will more likely go with a moderate than one of these far left Democrats. Tom Campbell seems like the most electable out of the whole bunch.
I agree with Tidbit, Tom Campbell would be an excellent choice for governor. He's a socially progressive Republican with unprecedented experience in economics- that experience is what California needs right now.
At this point, I'd say its Campbell, Poizner or Brown...

All politicians including your local park board?
I mean ALL Politicians. It's probably 1 in 10,000,000,000 who don't have their own agenda, even on the park board and the water board.
As my bumper sticker says;
It's 98% of the politicians
That give the rest a bad name
Throw them out in 2010!!
I'll throw in my guess.
Knowing that the bunch of clowns in Sacramento need some leadership I nominate;
Bugs Bunny and Roger Rabbit
They're as good as anything the republicans and democrats will give us!
Steve Poizner, Meg Whitman, and Tom Campbell on the Republican side.
Brian, are you only referring to the gubernatorial election, or do you mean all elections?

There would be nothing left of him but a greasy spot.

I think it's gonna be Newsom in a walk on the Democratic side.

For the love of California, anybody but Newsom.
I agree. Atkins is assuming the entire State of California will vote like San Francisco. Not even close...
