Yeah - heaven forbid we have knowledge.
Politics may become even less partisan than you could imagine, if the anti-tax folk & the Governator's biggest campaign donors from Wall Street have their way.
You know about all those state IOUs being handed out like monopoly money? Apparently the Wall Street is seeking to regulate them as securities so they can be bought & sold in a brokered market. If that happens, it will encourage CA to issue more IOUs and perhaps as much as $24B to $30B during the next six months. Since the IOUs have to be converted into cash to be used, the street value presently being discussed is about $.85 to the $1.00 (face value), meaning that if you were owed $1000 from the state, you'd net only $850. If you're a state vendor, you'll raise your prices accordingly. If you're a contract worker, you'll probably go into foreclosure sooner than you'd hoped.
In effect, the anti-tax crusaders in Sacramento have added a 15% surtax tax on the income of the IOU recipients. That's over $4B in new "surtaxes" on the backs of taxpayers and none of it will go to the CA treasury...it'll end up in the pockets of Arnie's Wall Street donors.
I don't know how any thinking rationale individual can align themselves with either the republicans or the democrats given their inability to accomplish the essentials and the fact that what they do accomplish only serves special interests and is generally injurious to the average citizen.
Vote 3rd party, any third party.
END THE 2 PARTY SYSTEM
The trick is to not align yourself with any party: Dems, Repubs, Indips, Greens, etc. Align yourself with whichever candidates have the best solutions.
Katie,
Either Greg Totten's email doesn't work or the county cut funding for S.W.A.T..
