Everyone is going crazy over the news! Some are speculating it will be the worst thing for the GOP, others say it is the best thing. She has been quoted as hating national media attention. Others have observed that her life should be on a Jerry Springer show. Me? I'll say she cost John McCain any shot at being president.
This is good for the GOP. She could only steal conservative votes and had no chance of winning.
The other shoe will drop. Something pretty bad must be right around the corner for her to resign. I wonder what the real story is.
Frankly, I'm gonna miss her mischevious Moose-dressin Mojo!
On the other hand, maybe she could come down to Sacramento and help our Girly-Man Governator and his Legislative Gang-of-Four figure out how to pass a structurally-balanced, fiscally-sound, and socially-just State budget..
After all, as Governor of Alaska, she had the brains and political guts to take on big-oil for the benefit of all Alaskans..
I'd love to live in a State where State taxes are low and big oil pays 25% of the value of a rising commodity back to the benefit of all the State's residents without regard to race, creed, gender, orientation or political party..
That sounds like comprehensive compassionate capitalism to me..
NostraDemus
Actually....Palin's immediate predecessor was the one who had negotiated Alaska's oil fee restructuring and at a higher rate than Palin finally signed off on. The former governor was the victim of dubious criminal investigations that were instigated by the same group that chose Palin to run for governor. All investigations cleared the former governor when it was apparent that there was absolutely no evidence of any wrong doing.
I'll guess that when the dust settles, Palin will be on the receiving end of some nasty investigations....instigated by the former governor's supporters.
GS:
Thanks for the clarification.
Anon, I cyber-prostrate myself profusely to your superior historical forensicity in this matter...
Nonetheless, at very visceral level, I stand by my previous, “mischievous, Moose-dressin Mojo comment,” about Governor Palin.
I still think that she could provide Arnie and the Sacto Legislative Gang-of-Four with some much-needed, “Tundra Temerity” as they deal with the big-oil companies.
God knows so far ALL of them, both Democrats and Republican, have been real wimps...
Ciao Commendatori
NostraDemus
I will say...she's got more swingin' below the belt than all of Sacramento.
Enjoy a great Fourth!
She is not tired of it at all.
I think she just got used to the quality smatteh she got to wear as a celebrity. (She does not make enough as Governor of Alaska to keep her closet full of what she likes.) She also needs that "liberal" media she claims to detest to make sure she will remain a household name to make that passive/aggressive thing of hers get her sympathy from others who see her as their intellectual and moral compass.
So, look at her to:
-- deliver well-paid appearances and speeches on the "rubber chicken" conservative fundraising circuit, trade shows and an occasional county fair;
-- get paid to make appearances on talk shows that need a boost in ratings provided her folks get to edit the format and content of the appearance; and
-- obtain a one year contract for her own talk radio show in which she would host brief and superficial interviews with folks that she feels confident would not embarrass her with big words or questions of their own.
Of course, all of this will highlight the fact that she is NOT one of those dirty, scum-sucking, image conscious politicians that she will run against in 2012, but just your humble, average middle class mom trying to change the world as best as she can between PTA meetings, shopping trips to the grocery store and hunting trips for buffalo, condors, grey wolfs and grizzly bears.
Remember, you heard it here.
It certainly isn't a calculated political move. Not even in the mind of a Republican.
Sarah must have received an offer she couldn't refuse. The new job conflicted with her governor gig.
John McCain sure picked a character rather than someone with character. We dodged a bullet on that one.
