Will Larry ask all 300,000 california school teachers....who all are all exempt from paying social security taxes....to start paying their fair share?
Will Larry ask all school districts to start paying the employer side of social security?
The ones who are always looking for ways to raise other peoples taxes....pay the least themselves.....
Andy,
They don't pay in because they don't get it.
Why would you want them to pay in if they aren't eligible to earn benefits? Actually, many teachers pay in for many years before becoming a teacher and then when they become a teacher they lose those benefits.
That means many of them have paid in even though they will not get benefits.
About ten years ago someone could receive both social security "they earned" and their public service retirement. Now a person could have paid into social security for decades and receive no benefit whatsoever yet you never see a Republican have a tea party about it.
Since you're so concerned about being "fair", Andy, would you be willing to give back to CA's teachers that portion of your SocSec benefits that they've underwritten, at no benefit to themselves?
RE:They don't pay in because they don't get it.
I think that is what I said....california's 300,000 teachers get to pocket the social security taxes which the rest of us are forced to pay with the government's gun to our heads.....
Actually it isn't just california teachers who don't pay their fair share of social security taxes.....teachers in 13 other states are exempt according to the NEA...plus other government employees across the USA bringing the grand total of public employees who are exempt to about 5 million, or 1 in 4....
RE:Since you're so concerned about being "fair",
I never said I wanted to be fair.....because if I wanted to be fair I would advocate all public employees to pay social security taxes they haven't paid...to pay retroactively...
It is an abomination that one-fourth of our public employees are exempt from social security
taxes.....
Why should those who DON'T receive SocSec benefits pay into the system? And for those who spent years paying into the system and who'll now not be able to receive any benefits, why shouldn't they get a refund?
What you're advocating is a purely socialist system whereby everybody pays to provide for your benefit, even if they can't hope to receive that same benefit.
RE:Why should those who DON'T receive SocSec benefits pay into the system?
You have it backwards....teachers don't get social security because they go thru their whole teaching career without paying social security taxes......they would receive if they paid.....and worked to age 65 instead of age 55
It is un-american for california teachers and other public employees to be exempted from social security taxes...it is an outrage
Why should I pay school taxes...I don't go school
Teachers who are exempted from social security taxes are the first to insist on raising other peoples' taxes to inflate their bloated salaries and benefits
Why should the state be investing billions upon billions of dollars in the stock markets and real estate in the state run retirement system for teachers....every california should be let into the state run retirement system...if the state is going to run retirement systems....
Brian...the opening question for Larry Aceves should be to explain why california's 300,000 teachers, part of the largest business in california, don't pay social security taxes....
How many ways can people explain to you they don't pay in because they are ineligible for the program and the money they pay in before they became teachers is forfeited?
What level of education does Larry Aceves have and what awards has he received. I couln't find that information on his website.
RE:How many ways can people explain to you they don't pay in because they are ineligible for the program and the money they pay in before they became teachers is forfeited?
They aren't "ineligible".....they certainly are eligible, they receive a pay check....they have been given an exemption which isn't available to the private sector....which is an outrage
Time for teachers to start paying their fair share......
Andy,
I am a teacher and when I retire I am not eligible to receive social security benefits. I paid in for years before I became a teacher. Do you want teachers to start paying in and then also be eligible to receive those benefits when they retire?
andy's simply looking for something to argue about. He will NOT respond to the fact that teachers aren't given an option to be removed from the SocSec system but are forceably removed and required to contribute to a different system, while abandoning all their previous contributions to SocSec. Teachers are NOT eligible for inclusion in the system, despite what his misinformed opinion has to say.
andy probably gets a SocSec check every month, paid for partly by the monies that teachers lost.
Andy,
Why only make teachers pay? Why not police officers, firemen, all the county employees, all the state employees, every public employee in the state? Make them all pay for something they can't have.
Larry Aceves said in Brian's interview:I think Barack Obama has shown great courage and fortitude in the brief time he has been in office, in pushing for economic stability and trying to resolve the health insurance issues in this country.
My question is will all 300,000 california teachers give up their current health care plans and join obamacare if passed?
Shouldn't government employees lead the way in obamacare.....after all the government will administer obamacare......
There's no plan for the government to administer health care, andy. Stop bearing false witness. If you can't discuss the issues honestly then let someone else take your place who will.
RE:There's no plan for the government to administer health care
Ever hear of HR 3200? Have you been asleep under a rock?
When there are no more private insurance companies where are california's 300,000 teachers going to get their taxpayer-paid health insurance.....?
Ans: from obama insurance in washington, d.c.
Andy,
Tell me anything that you're afraid will happen with a public healthcare plan that isn't already happening with your private health insurance company. You want death panels? Your private health insurance company has death panels. Looking for a company that will pull the plug on your grandma? You got that right now with your current private health insurance company. Name your biggest fears I can find them at your private health insurance company.
andy, how's anyone gonna listen to you if you can't distinguish between health care and health insurance? Despite it already being rejected informally by most House members, before itwas even introduced to the floor, HR3200 has NO provision for the government to provide health care. Nada. You're simply repeating the lies you hear on wacko-righto talk radio.
RE:andy, how's anyone gonna listen to you if you can't distinguish between health care and health insurance?
Who cares....if you want to parse words
Why should my tax money go to provide any public employee with health insurance....let them pay out of their own pocket if they want health insurance.....?
Why should my tax dollars go to proide pensions to public employess at 55, 50, or age 41? Let them all work to 65 like the rest of us and retire on social security....
What is candidates Larry Aceves' government pension? He is retired and running for political office for another dip
What is Larry's plan to reduce my taxes and reduce the cost of education?
Why the hell should he reduce your taxes? If you don't like paying your way then move to a place where taxes are low, like Russia or Alabama. I'm sure someone who'll be a credit to the state will be happy to take your place.
I hope he boosts the education budget so we can begin raising future generations of intelligent, reasonable citizens to replace the ignorant and angry who seem to have multiplied like rats since Reagan started dismantling the World's No 1 education system and raising taxes for the middle class.
RE:Why the hell should he reduce your taxes?
If you live off of other peoples' taxes.....like Larry does, then raising them is for your own selfish benefit
