( Since the passing of Senator Ted Kennedy this song has been on my mind often.)

The Ventura County Democratic Party has started an annual fundraising and awards night last year. This is the 2nd annual year and they have a limited amount of tickets to sell. Are you going? I don't often attend events like these but I am thinking of going.

Here is their announcement:

2009 Kennedy Legacy Dinner

With only 250 tickets available, seats are selling fast for the Ventura County Democratic Party's 2nd Annual Kennedy Legacy Dinner.

At this major party fundraiser, we will celebrate the contributions of the Kennedy family to American democracy. The fundraiser will be held in Thousand Oaks, California on Saturday, October 10, 2009.

Ventura County Democratic Party Chair, Jill Martinez commented, "The dinner and accompanying awards will energize and inspire our attendees to follow the lead of the Kennedys and celebrate civil rights and economic justice. Gloria Allred and Lilly Ledbetter are great examples of democratic activists. We are pleased to have the opportunity to hear about their work."

At last year's Inaugural Jack and Bobby Kennedy Dinner over 300 Democrats celebrated together when Ventura became the first RED county in the state to turn BLUE. This year we have renamed the dinner to give tribute to Senator Edward Kennedy and his exemplary service to the United States and thus we have renamed the event the Kennedy Legacy Dinner.

Four Kennedy Legacy Awards will be presented for outstanding contributions to civil rights and economic justice at the event:

* Jack Kennedy Award for Inspiration
* Bobby Kennedy Award for Courage
* Teddy Kennedy Award for Endurance
* Kennedy Community Service Award

Award winners will be announced at the dinner.

Other event speakers include: Hannah Beth Jackson, Attorney General Candidate Pedro Nava, Assemblywoman Julia Brownley and Hank Lacayo, President of the Congress of California Seniors.

Choice of Chicken or Vegetarian entrees.
