The ability for almost everyone to get their ideas out there is great for democracy. Check out this video where this outraged citizen compares the attack on Pearl Harbor to the water rate increases.

What's your biggest complaint your local government isn't adequately addressing?

Greed is rampant in local government here....the employees of many cities around here pay no social security taxes, get free pensions and free health, $100,000 salaries, long vacations, too many holidays.....the taxpayers shouldn't be on the hook for anyone in governments pension or health care.....let them buy their own health care, retire on social security and medicare...

We need to limit how long anyone can work in government, maybe 2-3 years....and it should all be voluntary, or draft them into service for a dollar a day like they do with jury duty....

We also have to kick the unions out of government

My biggest complaint with local government is the things that they are over regulating. Things like overly restrictive parking both on street and on your own property. Laws telling you how to maintain your home and landscaping as well as how much of your yard must be landscaped. The recent incident where the city shutdown a private haunted house is just one example of where the codes allow the city too much control over the activities on private property.(http://www.vcstar.com/news/2009/oct/19/simi-shuts-familys-haunted-house-attraction/) The current city architectural codes are turning the city into a sea of pink and tan stucco with red tile roofs. Would it really hurt to have a few different styles of architecture throughout the city. In just two weeks the city council is scheduled to vote on a “green building ordinance” that is even more aggressive than what is written in the California Green Building Standards Code. (http://www.vcstar.com/news/2009/oct/22/simi-may-adopt-strict-green-building-regulations/) Could someone explain why the California code is not good enough for us? Could someone please explain to the city council that all of these rules and regulations only increase the cost of housing and living in Simi Valley. The current Council is treating the city like a private home owners association and making it impossible the average middle class family to continue living here.
