Audra Strickland Rumored To Be Running For County Supervisor

Share: Share on Facebook submit to reddit StumbleUpon Toolbar

UPDATE: Ventura County Star Reporter Timm Herdt is reporting that Audra Strickland said she is focused on her current job and was not aware of the survey. If it wasn't Audra Strickland who else would have paid for the calls?

I have heard from a few sources that termed out State Assembly Member Audra Strickland is preparing to run against Linda Parks for County Supervisor from the district based in the Conejo Valley. Last time I heard she officially lived in Moorpark but I guess she could move before the time of the election.

Linda Parks is a moderate Republican that has substantial support from environmentalists. Audra Strickland has the support of many grassroots conservatives Her husband ran the right wing California Club for Growth which exists in part to target moderate Republicans. I expect them to call Linda Parks a "RINO" ( Republican In Name Only) to party members even though it isn't a partisan primary.

This match up will put two formidable candidates against each other. With labor unions, environmentalists, party activists, developers, and out of town consultants involved this could make for the most expensive race for County Supervisor in Ventura County history.

I predicted that Audra Strickland would run for another office in my 2010 predictions but I didn't know it would be this quick!

This blog will be covering these two candidates closely.

Note: I know Audra Strickland creates strong reactions among some of my readers but please keep it classy.

Taxpayers are tired of paying for your fancy wardrobe and pricey shoes so you can pass no meaningful legislation and hire thugs for aides.

Maybe Audra could live in that mailbox Tom McClintock used to live in in Thousand Oaks.

I like the fact she stand firmly behind Ventura County. She is a very educated, caring person and I have truly enjoyed getting to know her as a State Rep and a person. She had brought more people and communities together in causes, that I find myself supporting pretty much everything she involves herself in.

Linda Parks is good too, she has a good background and tried to stay on top, but I feel she tends to not see the big picture for the trees. I dont understand her vision.

Gambling, tobacco, perchlorates in our water, a mega trash dump at one end of Simi and a toxic mountain at the other, taxing taxpayers for the gain of private firms? These are the causes that bring people together? If so, then the community you're referring to is a very small, self-interested one.

----Deleted---- She just wants taxpayer money for a position that she is unqualified for. Audra should look for a job in private industry and find out how tough it is for the rest of us.

Linda Parks, the current Supervisor has lived in the proper area for years, does a fine job and should be re-elected.

Linda Parks is a politician of the highest caliber. She inspires each of us to do our part in helping make the world a better place. Linda Parks is a woman of integrity that has proven herself time and time again. The public will vote for someone with experience. Some one that they can really trust, Linda Parks.

District registration as of May 2009:
Democrats 31,881
Republican 41,317
Decline to State 18,315

-Almost the same breakdown as Peter Foy's district (Simi is slightly higher in GOP and Decline to State, and slightly lower in Dems).

If neither Parks nor Strickland gets 50% (meaning a strong Democratic candidate or another well-known Republican peeling votes away) there would be a run-off election, and a Republican would likely win. Which one?

I guess we are only at the rumor stage of Audra Strickland running for Linda Parks Ventura County Supervisor seat, but I am very surprised! I am assuming that you are correct Brian, in saying that Audra's official residence is in Moorpark. Since when is it OK for someone to run for a seat in a district which is not their home? Is it OK to move someplace just to qualify to run for an office? Instead, how about the idea that the official actually represents the people from their district, by knowing them and working with them?
That is what Linda Parks has done with such style for the 7 years so far that she has represented us. Let her continue as our VC Supervisor. Janna Orkney, www.ConejoPost.com

Linda Parks does a wonderful job in representing the important issues facing District 2 and the entire county of Ventura. She has a history of walking the walk, not just mouthing the words.

Linda is thoughtful and thorough and does her job without fanfare or seeking personal recognition. She worked for years on stopping the development of the Ahmanson Ranch and protecting the greenbelts.

Poor Audra is just searching for a job in the public sector, whether she is qualified or not, whether she even lives in the district. Maybe she's following the lead of Tom McClintock, state senator from the 19th district, who lived for years in Sacramento while using a TO address to prove he lived here.

Linda Parks deserves our support and as long as she wants to represent me, she's got my vote.

I've seen Linda Parks career from the very beginning and she is one of the most sharp, analytical, hard-working, honest public servants I have ever seen. Now if ever is one of the worst times to replace Linda Park's experience and skill with someone from the VCRCC. That's not a rumor that's a fact.

Audra is claiming she does not know who did the poll? Give me a break! You know you did it Audra, at least try and tell the truth once in awhile! I guess Audra is basically telling Moorpark she could care less about living there, she is basically a carpetbagger who is desperate to keep feeding at the taxpayer trough like an out of control hog!

I received a call today from Audra Strickland's pollster. If it is a prelude as to what is coming, the Strickland political machine will run one of the most negative campaigns in the history of our County and probably spend a fortune in comingled funds. I think they intend to blame Parks for everything and anything known to man. As my Dad used to say, they will put her on the grassy knoll if possible.

Strickland is a carpetbagger if she moves to our District to run for Supervisor. She will confirm that she is addicted to feeding at the public troth and stands for nothing.

The Sticklands have a lot of enemies and this will only increase the number. There is a huge downside if Audra loses which is a real possibility. Tony barely squeaked into office this time. Was it one or two votes? If Parks wins, Audra will be finished politically and maybe Tony too. They will probably move someplace else and run there too. They should strongly consider the downside.

In the meantime, I guess we will be subjected to more "official mailings" from the 37th Assembly that are paid for with our taxpayer dollars. The area and state economy are tanked. It is offensive to receive these self promoting mailers from Audra. Soon we will be getting mailings on this campaign financed by the Strickland's special interest fan club. I think a current audit of the Strickland's political contributions, spending and comingling is in order.

Brian asks if Audra Strickland didn't pay for this, who might have. There are a host of possibilities: The state or county parties, the committee of a legislative colleage, or an independent group. These push polls aren't that expensive. And the most recent reporting period closed on Dec. 31, so any report about spending the money won't have to be filed for months.

If she were to run, then I think Democrats would vote for Parks to stop a possible run-off between Parks/Strickland.

Am I missing something? Brians blog reads as if something was illegal about the phone poll.

Audra simply isnt ready or doesnt know her intentions yet. Big deal.

If you improved your own parties message rather than spending your time battling "the vast right wing conspiracy" perhaps you could win this seat.

Audra runs a negative campaign you say? Thats interesting everything I read here is negative.

It wasn't that long ago that the Ventura Police Union ran a push-poll against Neal Andrews. People had a fit! At least Snowling manned up and said that yes, one had been done. I'm sure that if Audra didn't pay or "know" about it, her husband or his staff, her staff or their acquaintances did.

It sounds like Linda Parks is already benefiting from the negative PR over this poll. And I'm sure the results weren't that great.

http://www.vcstar.com/news/2009/sep/01/ventura-police-unions-political-poll-called/

And remember the "robo calls" made regarding Steve Bennett a couple of years ago - nobody knew anything about that either.

Dave- Look at the statistics. It's a pretty safe Republican seat. Charges that the "other party" needs to improve their message will have little effect in that particular supervisorial district.

It's all about the numbers, and like it or not, people rarely change parties when they vote. It's get-out-the-vote efforts and the swing vote that often make the difference. Strickland's people know how to count, and they know how to win elections. They will be pouring over the push poll results to see if it's worth renting a little apartment in Conejo.

Dave,

What did I say to make it sound like to you I was implying the poll was unethical? I didn't even label it a push poll. I don't see proof it is a push poll.

Do you really think Audra Strickland has no idea who paid for the poll?

Thanks for reading and commenting on my blog.

PRAISE THE LORD I am not in that district. There is nothing more irritating than a Audra Strickland phone call while you are eating dinner or a silly mailer

I got that phone call a few days ago. She knows nothing about it? To quote another famous Republican "You lie!" If being a stripper were politically expedient Audra Strickland would buy a pole. As it is, “appearing” to be a Good Christian Woman is what gets her votes, so she smiles her suburban house wife smile and the mindless sheep that follow her cast their ballot. People with brains unite! This uncaring, immoral, material girl must be stopped.

If she does decide to run, she'll wipe the floor with Linda Parks. Parks is a true RINO and was leading the charge, with Supervisors Long and Bennett, to prevent Audra from running for Treasurer-Tax Collector. This will surely work against her in the election, as people begin to realize what a political animal and phony Republican she is.

Go Audra:
I would think a moderate Repubican would have a far better chance in a non-partisan race than an angry right winger with a social agenda at the top of her list.

Brian

You are correct your write didnt state anything unethical. Your posters sure did home in on that though.

I guess thats what blogs are for.

Well, think again, Wishful Thinking. If you were half-way attuned to politics in VC, you'd never make such a ludicrous statement such as "Audra is an angry right-winger." Far from it. She's always been extremely sensitive and responsive to all of her constituents, regardless of their political affiliations.

For one thing, she was one of the main forces that helped convince the State that Camarillo was the absolute wrong location for a prison hospital. She has accomplished much in her time in the Assembly, which is more than I can say for phony-baloney Linda Parks who registers as a Republican simply to get herself elected in a strong Republican district.

Go Audra, where does Audra stand on the matter of testing for perchlorates in our drinking water? I know her husband fought attempts to test for such toxins..presumably to protect his constituents from knowing what they were consuming...and it would be very hard to convince me that Audra doesn't walk in locked step with her husband.

Anything you can tell us would be timely, since our water district is considering the idea of adding a substantial amount of local ground water to our drinking supply.

So Audra was helping a disabled vietnam vet when her thug Angeles shoved him to the ground for using the Constitutional rights he had fought for? Niether Tony or Audra ever served their country in the military!

Ahhh, if you've been paying attention at all to the news, you may have heard that Joel Angeles was found innocent of doing anything wrong in the so-called Westlake melee. In fact, based on the findings and testimony during his trial it would seem that the partisan Democrats (like Jack Phillips and Lou Pandolfi) were there just to cause trouble and were largely responsible for inciting the whole disturbance themselves. Then they tried to cover their tracks and pin the blame on Joel by meeting privately before the trial to choreograph their testimony.

What a bunch of phonies!!!

Yeah, and a jury said OJ was not guilty of murder, what's your point? That the jury system always works? In the case of OJ they were wrong and in the case of Angeles they were wrong. I believe that thug was sent over to break the law, too bad justice was not served and that thug is not in jail right now! Also every letter to the editor so far is slamming Audra for being a carpetbagger!

You really want to know why The People lost the OJoel case?
The case is not the attention a State Attorney General wants when he is running for Governor. Jerry Thought; "Would I lose more votes if I win the case or if I lose?

The case was set to fail from the beginning. Greg Totten sent the case to Jerry Brown because Greg knew it was a red herring. Greg Totten has prosecuted many many other cases such as this one with much much less evidence and witnesses not to mention a complementary video.

As for the Stricklands and the VCRCC gang.
If Audra Strickland doesn't run we all know how well the telephone poll went don't we...

If Ms. Strickland does run against Ms. Parks she will be crushed. In the near future Elton will be out along with Tony, Foy will go back to the farm, and the VCRCC has ostracized and chased off every other Republican candidate who wouldn't kiss the ring. The local Republican party is being run into the ground.

Nobrains...err, I mean nobody, guess you missed the Star article about the VCRCC raising 30 times more money than the VC Dems.

Enough to fund their local candidates and still send cash around the state. When your county Dems manage to do that you be sure to let us all know, k?

And if Audra runs Parks is toast.

You heard it here first.

The VCRCC has not raised any money to speak of - what it does is launder existing money is other counties and campaigns.

Right on, voter! Parks is starting to quiver in her little old liberal boots right now on the thought of having to face Audra in "Real Republican" country. When the contrasts are presented between each of these candidates, I agree with you. Parks is toast!

Thousand Oaks won't replace Linda Parks with Audra Strickland. This is no time to bring in a rookie with a chip on her shoulder.

If Audra Strickland wants to run for Peter Foy's seat she might have a chance but people aren't trading someone level headed and experience like Linda Parks for someone inexperienced and a wacko.

Audra Strickland and Peter Foy are like 2 peas in a pod,
Both are haters of Mobile Home Issues and have voted against issues that were beneficial to Mobile Home Residents every time and I believe the mobile Home Residents will all vote against these two people.

Linda parks has been the best supervisor we have seen in the past years and we wouldn't want to see that distrubed by a job jumper like Audra Strickland, It appears to me that She depends on goverment jobs. She is like McClintock and will do anything to get another job, Like maybe "Burma Shaving".

Yes, I am a voter. I don't live in Linda Parks' district, so unfortunately, I won't be able to vote to reelect her for County Supervisor. Maybe I should use my son's address! That would be unethical though, so I won't. Audra Strickland should take note, and not pretend that she lives there either. Really she should know that it's unethical. If she doesn't know that..... then what could she possibly know? And of what good could she possibly be to our county? My fear is that she will run in her own district, which is where I do vote. Then she'll run her "smoke and mirrrors" campaign over here. Both she and her husband are shockingly successful at pulling off grand illusions. Voters beware. The onslaught has just begun!

Why has the County GOP become involved in a race between two Republicans? Could the answer be money and greed? I have a hard time believing Tony Strickland was voted in as a senator.
Here again is the answer, money and greed. Both Stricklands should eventually get jobs that won't harm the state and county of California

Too bad they aren't doing productive activities like putting on a forum for the Sheriff's race which also has two Reps running. Instead it has become nothing more than a Strickland Committee Money Laundering Service.

The first time I met Linda Parks was at a Habitat for Humanity build that wasn't even in her district. Instead of working the crowd she worked on the house. Her passion for public service is unmistakable.
Don't look for Supervisor Parks to author a push poll or move to chase a public office. She is in league that Audra Strickland can only dream of being in.

Perhaps it is time for BOTH of these professional politicians to "retire".

As a long time resident of Ventura County and in particular the Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park area, I have watched this wonderful community deteriorate into a haven for the wealthy and elite and a parking lot for the working class.

Middle class families have through gentrification been driven out of the community and those who are left are struggling to keep a roof over their heads, working two or three low-paying jobs, and trying to figure out what happened to their American Dream.

Perhaps it is time for someone to run against the gentrification masters such as Linda Parks, and the hypocrisy driven political insiders such as the Stricklands. Perhaps it is time for someone to step forward who really cares about the people of the County of Ventura and has no personal political agenda other than to honor the Constitution and be a servant of We the People.

I believe I am that person, and I am willing to put my experience, strength and hope on the ballot as a candidate for County Supervisor.

Please watch for future announcements and information about me and my campaign.

We must all remember that this is a non-partisan position, Audra has to win every Republican and half of the Independents to win. Her chances of getting any Democrats votes are probably slim to none, if that.
But I agree with many, that she has been "job" shopping. It truly becomes a clear case of carpetbagging when she won't run against Foy (a good friend and supporter of the Stricklands)in her own district where she actually has a mortgage, but instead, rents an apartment(?) in order to run in another district. Boy it sure pays off (no pun intended)to be a politician today, that you can afford a mortgage (rented or not)and what, $1000-$1500 for an apartment to boot? Sounds to me like the Strickland's will be taking their eye off of California and refocusing on her campaign this year. And we get to pay for it! Hooray!
