School Board Member Rob Collins, Past School Board Member and his wife Diane Collins, and education activist Donna Prenta are putting together a meet and greet event this weekend for three of their favorite local candidates. Here is the flyer for the event:

Although the candidates are appearing together that doesn't mean they have all endorsed each other. Arleigh Kidd posted this comment on Facebook:

I plan to be at this event to take pictures and to interview the candidates briefly. I have interviewed Jeanne Davis a few weeks ago and I will be interviewing Arleigh Kidd soon. I am personal friends with Arleigh Kidd and I am supporting him. He has been a teacher in Simi Valley and has a passion for public education.

Great ballot statements. Kidd forgot to mention that he is employed by the Teachers Union...

Reading the flyer it is obvious it is written by the people putting on the event and not the candidates. It also does not mention that Bob Huber is an attorney. Ballot statements are written in the first person. Why does election season make people lose their common sense?

What does an Education Consultant do?

See you at the event, Brian!

Pretty expensive glossy mailer, and Education Leaders United used in all capital letters looks like a formal organization. Where's the FPPC committee ID info? Who's funding this? And what the heck does the City have to do with local schools? I'm really suspicious when I see school folks diddle in the mayor's race.

That mailer makes me want to vomit...

FPPC violation.

Oh my God, are you kidding me! I can get soo much proof that you are wrong, and write sooo much to tell you why! I am saving it all, too! In computer files!! Whoever uses the most words is right! Spelling does not matter! If only votesimivalley.com was up and running tonight, I would just totally tell you off! You would be so, so very mad!! So there! N'yah!

Finally a venue that makes sense, brilliant !....I feel that along with parents our education system and the City can make a BIG difference in helping our community and it’s children, especially those who are at-risk(all of them). I am always encouraged as a parent when I see any attempt of collaboration by these leaders that are able to work collectively to support the needs of our children. Hopefully they will bring up issues that are city faces. Such as gangs, taggers, and out right failing in our city. Basically the city and the schools do have a problem. Once everyone can admit the problem then maybe we can move forward in taking the steps necessary to be able to finally be the safest city! …..PERVENTION, INTERVENTION AND SUPPRESSION. ( sorry about my spelling I am a product of the Simi Valley Ed system!)

I think Simi Valley would be more pro-education if they had a Congressman who graduated from college. Elton Gallegly lied he was a college graduate and nobody is addressing the problem.

It's time to toss the midget.

I spoke to Huber Sunday. IMO, he was there because he was invited to meet a greet with constituents. I know for fact that he has chosen not to endorse any candidates for School Board.

I also know that Huber and Josie Hirsch have been to a lot of events together, and even were seen together at the Simi Valley Days Carnival for 3 days! In viewing them, they appear to be friends. Josie appears to be close with his wife, Deb Holler, at these events too.

Huber is exemplary at reaching across the aisle in a non-partisan race. He and his wife treat everyone, including their opponents supporters with grace, respect and dignity. Bob is truly a gentleman and his wife is a class act who treats everyone kindly and never has an unkind word to say about anyone. Huber listens to everyones' opinion and takes their concerns and views into careful consideration. I trust Bob to represent our community with honor, truth and fairness to all concerned. Bob Huber, leadership that listens; The Peoples Mayor and our future!

The mailer remains an FPPC violation.

Joseph the mailer is not a FPPC violation if the cost is under $500 for a mailer pre-election or $1000 for IE. The mailer was designed, paid for and mailed out by the hosts not the candidates.

Research the criteria for IE's. The candidates will be claiming the mailer as an in kind donation on their next filing. It is all on the up and up.
