The State Has A Budget + The Tony Strickland Rorschach Test

Share: Share on Facebook submit to reddit StumbleUpon Toolbar

tony_strickland_budget_laugh.png

The State finally has a budget. Ventura County Timm Herdt has some details. Basically more cuts, more budget tricks, no new taxes. Ventura County Democratic legislators voted for it, Ventura County Republican legislators voted no, except for Cameron Smyth who abstained for some reason.

This picture of State Senator Tony Strickland is a true Rorschach test. Many of his critics will see a legislator that isn't concerned with the havoc caused when politicians refuse to compromise for the common good. But I assume his supporters will see a tired legislator who laughed at something in the middle of all the shenanigans, budgetary tricks, and empty speeches that defines the state budget process.

The question is what do you see in the budget?

Why Jerry Brown or Meg Whitman would like like to be held responsible for the problems in Sacramento surprises me.

Tony Strickland doesn't have a personal investment in California's best interests. How could someone holding office have a smile on his face with the problems Californian has. Just like Jeff Gorell, Tony Strickland is rolling in money from Texas offshore oil drilling companies. Time are good for the Tony Strickland. Tony Strickland is a tyrant whose only priority is his own personal financial gain. Tony Strickland is a career lifelong never had a job politician The tax-payers have supported him and his wife and all their scumbag friends. We supported them for life and we got nothing in return.

The Republicans biggest enemy is voter intelligence. Anyone who takes the time can easily see Tony Strickland, Jeff Gorell, Mike Stoker, and Steven Hintz are tyrants whose only concern is their ego and lifestyle. Career politicans and wannabees with agendas and bribes to pay back. It's time to say no to these worthless self-absorbed criminals and take California back.

Geez, every Republican running in Ventura County is a "tyrant?" Strickland can't smile once during the 100 days without a budget?

They're "criminals?" "Scumbags?"

A bit over the top, perhaps?

You're Red County wrong again Eric,

I base my claims with facts.

Steve Hintz isn't the best and brightest of judges in Ventura County. As a matter of fact Steven Hintz is the most disgraced judge in Ventura County. Steven Hintz holds the record for the most misconduct on the bench in the history of Ventura County. What makes you think he will be any more ethical with our $6 billion dollars Eric?

Jeff Gorell is a weasel lawyer working for a Texas offshore oil drilling company. A person would have to be very ignorant to believe Jeff Gorell is working for Californians? Are you some kind of Texas spy or are you really this stupid Eric? If a Democrat lawyer was running and being paid by a Texas offshore oil drilling company would you say something looked wrong Eric....?

Tony Strickland and his wife are lifelong parasites on the backside of the tax-payers. Tony Strickland never had a real job and does nothing in office but ask for bribes.

Those are the facts and you and Steven Hintz's public relations firm have nothing of value in response.

Brian,

Stop hiding behind your Nobody moniker. We know you hate all Republicans. Stop hiding and come out and say it yourself.

On the level of integrity, it gets no better than Mr Steven Hintz. If you have ever met him, you know he is an honest man and that is why I am voting for him.

Strickland was laughing and smiling in the picture because someone from the yes on 23 campaign had just made a big donation to green energy executive Strickland for his support of Prop 23 probably. Or maybe he was thinking about how Audra almost beat Linda Parks, oh wait, she lost big time. Maybe he was thinking about how silly he looked in those films of himself trying to play basketball when he should have been doing the job he takes taxpayer money to do!

Daniel,

I have never blogged under the name nobody.

Like you I have supported candidates from both parties. Remember when you supported Barack Obama?

What Democrats are you supporting this time?

Daniel,

We have gone over this before. I usually support Democratic candidates as I agree with them on policy. But I have supported many Republicans in primaries or general elections. Stop spreading the same falsehood.

Brian, prove it wasnt you. I am demanding you provide the ip address of Nobody and your own.

Dennert Bloggers all:

Now this is clearly quite a switch!

Goldberg self-righteously demanding proof of a negative much like Obama's David Axelrod, while Dennert calmly defends his Calpurnia-like blogging reputation, much like GOP stalwart Ed Gillispie.

Clearly, manifest evidence that cyber-blogging dogs and cats will soon be sleeping together, as the political end times draw nigh..

Oh the Horror! the Horror! When will it ever end?

Daniel Goldberg,

I have expressed my concerns to you in writing that you may be selling flowers and/or plants that could be harmful to pets, children, and adults if accidentally ingested. To my knowledge you haven't investigated any of my concerns and the public may still be in danger. Please put a very visible warning label on any flowers and/or plants that could be harmful in ingested.

Since I feel the public may be in danger. I will now personally investigate these issues, and if neccesary; do everything in my power to protect the public.

If you already have addressed my concerns and have taken appropriate action please let me know.

Brian - Cameron abstained from a earlier version of budget vote along with many other members. That budget was not the final budget or final vote. Cameron did vote no on the final version, SB 870, which was passed back to the Senate. Here is the final vote record for SB 870 -

10/7/10 (PASS) Assembly Floor 57 13 8 SB 870 Ducheny Third Reading Urgency By BLUMENFIELD
Ayes: Ammiano, Arambula, Bass, Beall, Bill Berryhill, Block, Blumenfield, Bonnie Lowenthal, Bradford, Brownley, Buchanan, Caballero, Carter, Charles Calderon, Chesbro, Conway, Coto, Davis, De La Torre, Eng, Evans, Feuer, Fletcher, Fong, Fuentes, Furutani, Galgiani, Garrick, Gatto, Gilmore, Hall, Hayashi, Hill, Huber, Huffman, John A. Noes: Adams, Anderson, Audra Strickland, DeVore, Gaines, Hagman, Knight, Lieu, Miller, Niello, Smyth, Tran, Villines

No Vote Recorded: Cook, De Leon, Fuller, Harkey, Hernandez, Jeffries, Portantino, Tom Berryhill

If Brian was innocent of the charges presented by Daniel, he would gladly provide the IP addresses. Something smells rotten in Denmark.

Daniel,

How do we know YOU aren't nobody?

Jarrod,

Why do legislators abstain from votes like these?

I demand Daniel Goldberg's IP address to prove he isn't "Nobody". If he isn't Nobody he should have no problem giving his IP address.

Tony Strickland won his first election to office because people thought they were turning a young, intelligent, scrappy kid loose on the status quo. It is now obvious he is a opportunist only looking out for himself.

Audra Strickland won her first election because she was a young teacher who sounded passionate about making the community better. Now she is addicted to the money and the feeling she is some sort of celebrity.

And I don't find it ironic that the Daniel Goldbergs, Eric Ingenmunsons, Mike Osborne's, Mike Gibsons, and so on, are fans of the Stricklands because they either want to be like them or are profiting from their unethical political behavior.

Brian,

Please provide my ip address, nobody's ip adress, and your ip address so we can compare.

Also, my flowers are not for consumption. Only to make your house look and smell wonderful.

I have access to everyone's IP addresses and Goldberg is not Nobody.

I used to think Nobody was a coward for not putting his real name out there, but now I realize it's self-preservation. For if anyone found out his true identity...well, I'm aware of people who want to sue him out of existence for defamation.

So whether he's some local hack, Goldberg, or Dennert himself, you better check up on libel law and make sure you aren't opening yourself up to a lawsuit. Anonymity can't protect you forever, not in this day and age.

Eric,

To clarify you have access to the IP addresses of people that have posted on your blog, but not on mine.

Did you just recklessly say I could be Nobody? After all you said you have access to our IP addresses and then stated "...or Dennert himself". You have my IP address and Nobody's. You can verify for yourself.

Are you saying anyone that blogs under a different name is a coward? Bring that up at the next Ventura County Republican Central Committee meeting. Make sure you tell them you think they might be cowards but I understand there are many reasons to blog under different names.

I like you and your blog but this is the dumbest conversation on my blog in a long time. I have told every candidate that I have come across that they can email me if they see a comment that violates privacy or defames them in a way that goes beyond normal political attacks. I have the emails to prove it. Litigious people that threaten lawsuits but can't bring themselves to send an email are saying more about themselves than they are saying about others.

I can't speak for those legislators Brian, but abstaining or not voting usually happens when a member is simply not present; like in the Senate where two of their members were seriously ill. For the above Assembly Members who abstained, I am not sure if they were absent and didn't vote or if they actually abstained. If they voted to abstain, it can be for a variety of reasons; conflict of interest, straight political purposes, or they simply missed the vote by accident even though they were there. It has happened.

Listen to Dennert pontificating again. This is such a load of crap. He routinely allows Nobody (which is sounding more and more like it's probably him) to get away with all kinds of slanderous comments. His rants about Steven Hintz, Tony Strickland, and Elton Gallegly are just three glaring examples that come to mind.

But, I guess it's all starting to make sense now. Why would he ever want to censor himself?

Brian,
Please don't delete Eric Ingemunson's or Daniel Goldberg's comments on this post.

I have participated on the Dennert Blog for many years and at no time have I felt more threatend.

Eric Ingemunson's comment:

"For if anyone found out his true identity...well, I'm aware of people who want to sue him out of existence for defamation".

and

"Anonymity can't protect you forever, not in this day and age".

I appreciate any help the Ventura County Star and/or Scripps Howard can provide. If they do nothing I will assume they agree with his comments.

Z,

Again, I remove comments when a campaign or a candidate requests that I do by email.

I don't reveal which campaign or candidate requests that I remove a comment.

I find this works best as it doesn't force a campaign to look like complainers, but it protects their character and privacy when applicable.

I won't tell you, even if it helps me defend myself, which of the above campaigns have requested that I remove comments in the past, but be assured I consistently made campaigns aware of this policy.

Nobody,

If a candidate feels a comment needs to be removed they should email me directly. Same goes for readers.

All,

This conversation is boring. That's because I REMOVE COMMENTS UPON REQUEST BY EMAIL. Debating each comment is tiresome. If a poster really has a problem they can email me.

Feel free to join a conversation, or start one, on another entry.

Oh, I see how it works, Dennert. The discussion becomes boring when you're the target of the criticism. Obviously, the initial topic of this thread - Let's all bash Tony Strickland - wasn't compelling enough to get any comments. The only one who quickly jumped on board was "Nobody." Hmmmmm.......

Brian,
PLEASE DON'T REMOVE ERIC INGEMUNSON'S OR DANIEL GOLDBERG'S COMMENTS ON THIS POST. I believe a law enforcement official might feel it was destruction of evidence. Eric Ingemunson threatend me with a pending lawsuit. I feel very strongly this is a civil tort. I believe Eric Ingemunson made these threats to deny me of my civil rights in regards to free speech as a citizen of the United States.

Eric Ingemunson,
You need to give me the names of every individual who told you they were going to sue me as soon as I am identified.

Daniel Goldberg,
Please look on the plastic bags you get from the grocery store or the laundry mat. Those plastic bags aren't meant for human consumption either yet they have warning labels on them.

You need to talk to your Dad or whoever is in charge. Please don't make this decision on your own. It appears to me you don't have the intelligence to make the right decision in this matter.

Brian, you are too funny!

Nobody, why are you freaking out on me? I didn't say I was going to sue you, genius. Read a little bit more carefully. I said people have told me that you COULD be a target of a lawsuit if you were ever identified due to your defamatory language.

And Brian, you could read a little more carefully too, I didn't say you were Nobody. I didn't say you weren't Nobody either, yet you assumed the former.

The lesson here, for all of us, is to be more respectful over the language we publicly use. I bet Nobody is learning this lesson in spades right now, and I bet I'll see more rational comments from him from now on.

Brian:

Hey Buddy, Karl Rove and his Video Cavalry has come to your rescue!

Check out the URL above for a video link showing Karl's recent appearance on Fox News. It contains some really cool video graphic pointers on how you can end the “Byzantine-Beautiful Mind” speculations currently underway as to whether or not you are Nobody.

Of course, given the tenor and content of some recent posts regarding this matter, it appears that some hyper-conspiratorial bloggers think you could be a cyber-Sybil in our very own blogging midst (or should I say mist???).

I can see it in my minds-eye very clearly.

The race to the top between Brian and Karl to see who's "Zero, Nothing, Nada," defense video will reach the dizzying heights of "Viral Valhalla" on You Tube.

Great moments in cyber-political history unfolding right before our very eyes.

Only in America!

NostraDemus

Here's a useful resource for readers so they know to steer clear of violating libel laws. I haven't read the whole thing, but it seems to be a pretty good source of information on the subject:

http://www.eff.org/issues/bloggers/legal/liability/defamation

Basically, if you say something about a public figure, the public figure has to show that the allegation wasn't true and that the other party knew it was a lie or had reckless disregard for the truth.

For the record, Brian's IP address is different than Nobody's, not that I ever said Brian was Nobody. And Nobody, I don't think anybody could identify you even if I disclosed your IP address, which I haven't done nor plan to do. That's your private information. But I do hope that you treat people with a little more respect.

Eric:

Thank you for the URL reference to the Electronic Frontier website.

I found it illuminating, interesting and useful. Particularly the lucid explanation that in defamation law, "context" is the critical judicial prism by which the legality of spoken (slander) or published (libel) "content" is judged.

I commend you for shedding light on this arcane, complex, and rapidly evolving legal subject.

Especially since cyber-tribalism on these blogs may result in collateral damage to the innocents online, as it often has in human history when unchecked impulse and instincts trigger mindless acts of physical violence, up-close and personal.

While some may fashion themselves as the cyber-equivalents of John Savage on-line, the searing flames encountered in a Brave New Blogging World may very well consume themselves, as well as innocent others, as they ruthlessly pursue "cyber-gothca" pyrrhic victories.

NostraDemus

Eric,
Let's be clear; you said "I'm aware of people who want to sue him out of existence for defamation". Now I need to know who is planning to sue me once the my identity is known. If you tell me who these people are you go from a person making threats to a person who simply is providing information to me about people who are wishing to do me harm by utilizing the legal system.

You see Eric I need to be proactive. I can't wait to see what happens. If someone is planning to sue me you need to provide the names these people. I need to give my lawyer some basic information so he can properly defend me against any pending litigation. I don't want to give my lawyer your name, the Ventura County Star, and Scripps Howard. I want to give my lawyer the names of the people who are threatning to sue me out of existence for defamation.

I don't want to hear anything other than the names of the people who are threatning to sue me out of existence. If for instance it's someone who has been a judge for a couple decades I need to know. Judges sometimes become comfortable being "right" because they say they are right. If so I can do two things. I can provide my lawyer with the neccesary information to properly defend me and I can welcome a ex-judge back to the real world.

If this is something you just made up please tell me and apologize. I would like nothing more than stop worrying about this and limit my legal costs. If you tell me in 24 hours this is something you just made up I will eat the legal bill I have now and forgive you, the Ventura County Star, and Scripps Howard and get on with my life.

If this is something you didn't make up you need to tell me the names of the people who are threatning to sue me.

Nobody, you've attacked dozens of people in your writings and therefore given many, many people grounds for complaint.

Just in one breath you said "Tony Strickland, Jeff Gorell, Mike Stoker, and Steven Hintz are tyrants" and "career politicans...with agendas and bribes to pay back" and "criminals".

Then I told you to check up on libel law to make sure you aren't breaking it you accuse me of threatening you with a lawsuit? How ridiculous and perfectly paranoid.

I have never threatened you with a lawsuit--that's some fantasy you imagined. I advised you to research libel law to make sure you aren't violating it. I did you a service by making you aware of the law and providing a link for you to research it.

This might put your mind to rest (or not, I don't care). I know of no specific person who said they are going to sue you. But, in casual conversation I've been told that "people" (who were not identified to me) would have grounds to pursue this IF you identified yourself.

And that's the only way you can be identified, as far as I know--is if you did it yourself. So you remain anonymous.

But just because you are anonymous doesn't mean you have the right to illegally impugn the character of your political opponents. I implore you to exercise more courtesy and humanity in the future, and to let go of some of the bitterness that poisons your writing.

Eric,

Calling an elected official a tyrant and a criminal might be illegal? That is really going to change some tea party rallies.

I recommend we move on. I am going to lock this entry.

Speaking of tyrants. There goes Dennert again.

Eric Ingemunson,
Your actions could affect many people at The Ventura County Star not just you.

Say you are sorry for lying about knowing people that want to sue me out of existence. You lied and are continuing to lie and this is a perfect example of why someone should never believe a word you say.

I don't like Steven Hintz because it appears to me he refuses to acknowledge the crimes that occured under Tim Matheney's Ventura County's Treasurers Office. As a matter of fact Steven Hintz said Tim Matheney did a good job.

I think Tim Matheney, Steven Hintz, and Barbara Lane believe because the victims of Tim Matheney's Treasurer's Office are disabled and/or children; with nobody looking out for them, that they don't have anything to worrry about. They thought nobody was watching and nobody cared. I say that's a perfect reason to worry and I'm willing to prove it.

Hey, Nobody, I know who you are. So, I would suggest you stop with the libelous comments about Judge Hintz or I will expose you on this blog and elsewhere.

Nobody, your last comment was the most reasonable. Why can't you just say that at the beginning instead of calling everyone liars and criminals and accusing them of bribery?

What I said is accurate. If you think I'm lying about the existence of these people, go ahead and reveal your name; you should have nothing to worry about. But you should hurry up and do it before Brian takes his ball and goes home.

And Brian, frankly it's disappointing not that you'd let a commenter accuse specific local officials like Gorell, Hintz, etc. of BRIBERY without any evidence, but that you'd not join in in condemning this sort of low behavior.

I Know Who You Are,

Go for it. I'll never let people like Eric Ingemunson or Daniel Goldberg tell me what to do. I've never lost in court. Somebody has to kill me if they want to stop me and you wouldn't be the first person to try that either.

Steven Hintz is the most crooked judge in the history of Ventura County. Just like any other criminal it would be foolish to believe Steven Hintz got caught everytime he broke the rules on the bench. Most likely he did so many ignorant, illegal, unethical, dishonest things they had to eventually do something about it. There are reports he retired the day new charges were being filed.

If Steven Hintz wants to sue me for his poor record as a judge; and for me saying what I believe, or because I asked very direct questions, tell him to bring it on. I'll fight to the last drop of blood just like I always have and the last drop of blood won't be mine this time either.

Eric Ingemunson,
You keep changing you're story as if you think people can't simply go back and read what you said on this post. Either you have had people tell you they are going to "sue me out of existence" or you're a liar. Everyone can see you're a coward, a liar, and you don't take responsibility for what you do. It appears you only care about yourself which is also a common trait of Republicans. I tried to work this out with you. I've tried to limit the damage you are causing yourself and others. I believe you when you say you don't care. I'm done trying to talk sense into someone as ignorant as you. I obviously have to take this to the next level and involve a third party to decide this matter.

Here's a hint -- Nobody is a well-known local liberal attorney. He is involved in a lot of local Democratic Party activities and some philanthropic organizations. He is caught up in the global warming scam and thus is very supportive of all the "pro-environment" actions of some of our elected bodies, including the Ventura City Council's and Board of Supervisors' efforts to ban plastic bags.

This should be enough info. for most of you to figure out who he is.

I wonder if Eric blogs on this blog because no one ever posts comments on his blog? Just wondering.

From anywhere in the world it's Late Night With Brian Dennert. Tonight guests: Daniel Goldberg and Eric Ingemunson, comedian Mike Gibson, Where's This Political Sign, Stupid Political Tricks and The Dennert Blog Orchestra.

And now; here he is, the man with no Republican blog competition .... Briiiiiiiiiiiian Dennert...

(Cheers and applause)

Tom DeLay used to smile like that... It makes you wonder; if a guy like him can be brought down who couldn't be. Tom DeLay had all the powerful friends and influence he laughed at our laws and government. Who knows if the government was a little smaller who knows what he and the Republicans could have done. Then when I heard the trial was in Texas I thought; when Joe Howry finds out Ron Bamieh is moonlighting he's gonna flip. Then I found out it wasn't that... it was just twelve brave Americans who still believe in this Nation and respect all the people who fought for it.

I believe politics for profit is an extreme danger to American society. Wether it's Eric Ingenmuson with his thirst for snacks and fun activities or Tom DeLay's desire to rule the world, I believe it's all a threat to freedom.

Dennerts been deleting my stuff so even if you don't read this I want you to have a happy thanksgiving and wonderful holidays and if you celebrate Christmas, even though I believe it's just a trick to get you to buy stuff and sit on a strange guy's lap; I wish you all the best as well.
