What could unite liberal and conservative activists with tech companies? Opposing the legislation Rep. Elton Gallegly is a co-sponsor of titled SOPA.

This Wednesday many tech companies are speaking out against the legislation known as SOPA. The list includes Google, Reddit, and Wikipedia.

These companies and their allies believe this legislation will harm the free flow of ideas and information on the internet. The proposal threatens the fast growing tech sector of our company.

Some websites plan to go dark during this time period or post messages to protest the legislation. So if you need to look something up on Wikipedia tomorrow it won't be working thanks to the supporters of SOPA.

If you feel strongly contact Rep. Gallegly's office. Just don't try looking up information on him using Wikipedia.

Call Rep. Elton Gallegly and ask why Wikipedia isn't working.

* Blame Elton Gallegly and the other supporters of SOPA from both parties. I am focusing on Elton Gallegly because he is out local Representative and he is a co-sponsor.

Ironic how the same studios, publishers and other content providers are calling for a blanket policy of "guilty unless proven innocent" for websites and yet their own content is produced in large part on bootlegged & cracked software for music, film and other purposes.

Elton and the GOP have to support this effort to censor the internet because Fox News has ordered them to.

Yeah, I think we should also blame Gallegly for the fact that it may rain later this week. It makes about as much sense as what Brian (an avowed Gallegly hater) has posted here.

I'm not quite sure if Brian is for or against SOPA, but he is definitely not a Gallegly supporter. I does sound like he supports big government though. If you want to know why we are against SOPA please click on http://bezigndesign.com/blog/ scroll down and read what it is about.

Blame,

It is fair to bring up that Elton Gallegly is a co-sponsor of the legislation that Wikipedia, Reddit, and Google are protesting.

Joe,

I am against SOPA. That's why I keep brining it up. That's not a brave stand as the bill is very unpopular among grassroots and netroots activists regardless of party.

I think we agree on SOPA. It doesn't solve the problem of online piracy. I think big government is sometimes called for but not in this case.

Personally everything I know Gallegly is a decent man. He gives to local community programs and he likes his hometown. He seems like a humble man. After he retires I think he will live in Simi Valley.

I do oppose much of what Elton Gallegly does politically. I would like him to see how the legislation he is a co-sponsor of unites people against it. It would be informative to watch him discuss it at a townhall forum but he doesn't hold them.

I think Gallegly is to blame for the fact that February will be a leap year month this year. How on earth could he let something like this happen?

By the way, Brian, my internet works just fine. Have you been paying your bill on time for your DSL connection?

I've emailed and telephoned Gallegly about SOPA, and received the standard "I certainly will keep your comments in mind" non-responsive letter. Gallegly is a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee whose chairman, Lamar Smith, is the principal proponent of SOPA, so it's not too surprising that Gallegly is co-sponsoring this terrible legislation. And since Gallegly is retiring, there's no political pressure we can put on him.

Fortunately the Internet counter-offensive seems well on its way to killing SOPA and PIPA. A lot of supposedly-free market Republicans who nonetheless backed these bills are now caving, along with a smaller number of Democrats. Harry Reid, who had been relentlessly pushing for a Senate vote, has thrown in the towel. For the now the Internet has dodged the kill shot.

This should be made a critical issue in every House and Senate race in November. And if any Republican or Democrat candidate fails to oppose future SOPA or PIPA type legislation, that alone should be a deal-breaker for every voter.

I didn't expect you to address the legislation that riled up millions of people against it. Elton Gallegly is a co-sponsor of legislation that triggered such a massive response from the public that popular websites like Reddit and Wikipedia protested against it by closing for the day.

Do you support his legislation?

What do you think about Gallegly pretending to not remember the referred loan from Countrywide? Prisneyland.com is suggesting he may be suffering from Alzheimer's Disease, but I think that would be a bit too convenient for Ol' Elton.
