The Democratic Club of the Conejo Valley is holding an activist training at their August meeting.

I like the idea of club meetings that include candidates and training. I don't go to many political club meetings where the only topic is a political discussion among club members. We can do that online using blogs and Facebook.

Our regular monthly meeting will be Wednesday, August 1 at the Thousand Oaks Library. The meeting starts at 6:45 p.m., with networking at 6:15 p.m. In preparation for the November election, we'll hold a workshop on nuts and bolts of activism. Explore your talents and learn how to use your gifts in the most effective way possible. Hone your skills, take your activism to the next level, find a campaign, get involved! Speakers will include Janet Eckhouse from OFA (President Obama's reelection), local campaign staffers, and you. Yes, you! So bring a friend. As always, guests and members are welcome.
