Barack Obama and the State Assembly

Jeff Gorell doesn't have a serious challenger this November. But he wants to fundraise. How to you rile up donors when you don't have a serious challenger? Bring up Barack Obama. What's funny is he is running for a state office.

I am disappointed in the Supreme Court decision on ObamaCare and believe we need to take this opportunity to repeal this massive tax. There's no doubt that affordable health care is a problem that needs to be addressed, but this bureaucracy is not the answer. Instead, we need to pursue more common sense private sector incentives. Today, it is more important than ever to elect somebody with strong, fiscally conservative values from Ventura County to stand up to the reckless anti-business agenda coming from the Obama Administration and the liberals in Sacramento. Please stand with me in these coming months to send a clear message - this is not the time for a $500 billion tax on the American people. Yours truly,

Jeff Gorell

P.S. Your contribution of $25, $50, or $100 will be a tremendous boost to my campaign. I encourage you to let your friends and family know how important this is as well. Please share this email with them, and when you discuss jobs, the economy, and the housing market here in California - tell them about my efforts and to checkout my website, www.jeffgorell.org.

"A fool and his money are soon elected." -- Will Rogers

Totally inapplicable comment. For one thing, Jeff is certainly no fool. He has a Juris Doctorate from McGeorge Law School in Sacramento where he graduated in the top 10% of his class.

Prior to his election to the California State Assembly, Gorell was a co-owner of a regional public affairs firm, Paladin Principle LLC, based in Ventura County. He advised clients and served as the company’s legal counsel. He was also a member of the California Lutheran University faculty, teaching undergraduate and graduate level politics and public policy as an adjunct professor.

A third generation Navy man, Gorell serves as a Lt. Commander in the United States Navy Reserve. Within days of the September 11 attacks in 2001 he was recalled to active duty to support Operation Enduring Freedom and served for one year forward deployed to the Persian Gulf and Afghanistan. He was decorated for leadership and meritorious actions in a combat zone.

I don't know who Harold Godwin is. But, I am willing to bet that his accomplishments in life do not qualify him to make these kinds of cutting remarks to someone he disagrees with politically.

I'm thinking of another Will Rogers quote that might better apply to Jeff Gorell: "Being a hero is about the shortest lived profession on earth."

Obama is Commander and Chief over Gorell who is in the Navy Reserve, Gorell must salute Obama. The last underling in the military who broke the UCMJ by making bad comments about the Commander and Chief was discharged.
