( Eric Halub ran for office in Simi Valley and attracted attention for his intensity of his views. Please watch the video. Rumors are he might run again.)

Many local elected positions will be on the November ballot. If you are thinking of running here is a partial list of available positions. Also, the County Elections office has many resources.

I interview many candidates for local office. If you are interested send me a message. I use the comments section of my blog. I am mostly interested in candidates for school boards across Ventura County.

MCKEON’S DISTRICT DIRECTOR CHOICE HIGHLIGHTS PATTERN OF POOR JUDGEMENTS

(Santa Clarita, CA) – Congressman Howard “Buck” McKeon announced on Monday that Morris L. Thomas, interim publisher of The Signal, would join his government staff as the district director replacing Bob Haueter. After touting Thomas’s credentials of a law degree from UCLA, the press requested information about postings on the California Bar website indicating his resignation pending a conviction in 1992. McKeon’s office subsequently clarified that Thomas was convicted of a felony for grand theft and served 18 months in prison. Details indicate that Thomas took property from a client and converted it to personal use. He resigned from the California State Bar with ethics charges pending.

Dr. Lee Rogers said, “This decision is only the latest in a pattern of poor judgments by Congressman McKeon. He seems to think that the rules don’t apply to him and that as a career Washington politician he can do whatever he wants without repercussions. Congressman McKeon’s involvement and dishonesty in the Countrywide mortgage scandal, where he was part of a VIP program that gave him a cheaper mortgage; nepotism in his campaign, where he has paid his wife exorbitant amounts of money for questionable work; and alleged insider trading, where he financially benefited by his inside financial knowledge all demonstrate that his career has been highlighted by a pattern of poor judgments.

We need a congressman who will play by the same rules as everyone else, standing up for our district, not for special interests or his own self-interests. We should send a representative who will improve the ethics in Washington, not one who contributes to lower standards with poor choices and by violating the public trust. We need a congressman who will be part of fixing what is wrong with Washington.”
