Ventura City Manager Rick Cole posted that he is resigning. I enjoyed his blog and like that he allowed us to understand city hall better. His latest blog entry continues that tradition:
Mayor Mike Tracy and I agree on many things, but two stand out in this situation. First, what's good for Ventura comes first. Second, better to tell the truth, even if it is uncomfortable. I'm not leaving to spend more time with my family -- although I'm looking forward to that. I'm not leaving to "pursue other opportunities," although I'm excited about that too. I'm resigning because after eight and half years, the majority of the Council believe it is time for a change in leadership.

It's about time this guy was given the boot. He is largely responsible for Ventura's financial problems given his lack of stewardship over the City's budget and finances.
Time to bring someone on board who truly puts the interest of the City first. Also, when is he going to pay the City back for that sweetheart deal of a house that was given to him when he was appointed City Manager six years ago?
Are you blaming Rick Cole for home prices declining in Ventura County?
No, just want him to pay the taxpayers back for the sweetheart deal he was give when he was hired. Not many of us working in the private sector get a free house as a condition of our employment. Leave it to the public sector to play it fast and loose with taxpayer dollars.
