I respected Richard Carter. He is a good family man and a decent person. Good luck to the new Chair David Atkins. He has experience with netroots politics. It will be great if he can implement many of those techniques and ideas locally. He created a minor controversy for ridiculing Republicans from Simi Valley as racists. If he learned a lesson somewhere from that it would be helpful.

Ventura County Democratic Party Elects Executive Board and Endorsement Committee New membership sworn in to lead party in crucial election year.Dear Brian,
CAMARILLO, Calif.--The Ventura County Democratic Central Committee (VCDCC), the governing body of the Ventura County Democratic Party, swore in its new membership and elected its Executive Board (E-Board) and Endorsement Committee on Tuesday.
The E-Board's five officers and Endorsement Committee's seven members and alternates will serve two-year terms, including a pivotal presidential election as well as key races for the Democratic Party in the county. The new members were sworn in by County Supervisor John Zaragoza.The E-Board members constitute the leadership of the local party. The elected members are:
Chair, David Atkins: Atkins previously served as the local party's First Vice Chair and chair of the party's Field Operations Committee. He will continue in the latter role. Atkins is also the Political Director of the Ventura County Young Democrats, an Executive Board member of the California Democratic Party, and a daily contributor on the award-winning blog "Digby's Hullabaloo."
First Vice Chair, David Pollock: A second-term Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem of the City of Moorpark. Pollock previously served on the town's school board for 15 years. He recently ran for the 26th Congressional District before withdrawing to help elect Julia Brownley. He is the Secretary of the newly formed Moorpark Democratic Club. This is Pollock's first term on the central committee.
Second Vice Chair, Brian Leshon: Leshon previously served the local Party as Chair, First Vice Chair, most recently as Secretary, Chair of the Party's Communications and Platform Committees (roles he will continue) and President of the Democratic Campaign Council of Ventura County. Leshon serves on the California Democratic Party's Organizational Development Committee.
Secretary, RL Miller: Activist focusing on climate change, Miller is on the board of the Democratic Club of the Conejo Valley. She served as an alternate member of the Central Committee, and was elected for the first time this year. RL is the Secretary of the California Democratic Party Environmental Caucus. Miller runs Twitter-based policy news feeds covering environment, climate, and natural resources issues for Congressional staffers.
Treasurer, Shawn Terris: Terris is serving her second term as treasurer of the Central Committee. She is the President of the Stonewall Democratic Club of Ventura County.
Members of the Endorsement Committee were also elected for a two-year term. The Endorsement Committee reviews Democratic candidates for local offices, ballot measures and pending legislation recommending endorsements for upcoming elections. Endorsement committee members include: KK Holland (District 1), RL Miller (District 2), Bruce Little (District 3), Richard Carter (District 4), Joseph Castañeda (District 5), Bette Empol (alternate) and Caleb Donner (alternate).
"This is a crucial year for the Democratic Party, and I'm confident that this board and endorsement committee will provide the leadership we need to ensure Ventura County elects the Democratic leadership it needs," said outgoing chairman Richard Carter. "I've been proud to serve with many of these dedicated leaders, and I look forward to working with them in the future."
This press release should also tell you that despite losing in District 1 in June, the VCDCC had no problem ignoring the will of the Democratic voters in that district and appointed Brian Leshon to the committee. Then they elect him to the Executive Board, giving all those voters the bird. Democracy in action.

You would think the party leaders in the County would take this into account when they were voting on their new president. But, chaos reigns in the VCDCC. So, this really comes as no great surprise.

Yeah you are correct, that is the GOP agenda to destroy medicare and social security in order to steal that money and give it to billionaires like the Koch brothers, of course Romeny doesn't pay taxes so he doesn't have to worry about how to survive when he is a senior citizen.
The Obama spin-masters, including the media lap dogs, have got nothing on Romney as far as scandalous behavior. So, the only thing they have to attack him on is his success. According to the White House and Congressional leaders in the Dumocrat Party, if you are successful, wealthy, and creating jobs, you are somehow un-American and need to be torn down.
After all, Dumocrats believe that private citizens don't have a right to large sums of money - only the government has that right. Because the government knows how to better spend your money than you do (witness Obama-care, the so-called economic stimulus plan, etc.).
Dumocrats have a long history of scandalous behavior while in office (e.g., Bill Clinton, John Edwards, Eliot Spitzer, etc.). Solid citizens like Mitt Romney have no such history, so they've got to find something to attack him on, while the Obama cheerleaders in the media (Chris "Still Living in the Kennedy Years" Matthews, Lawrence O'Donnell, Rachel Madow, and "Fat Head" Ed Schultz) wave their pom-poms.
So Romney on orders from the Koch Brothers (most likely) has picked pimple faced Paul Ryan as VP. Ryan worships Ayn Rand and even has an alter to her built in his home it is rumored to which he bows and prays daily. By choosing Ryan, Romney has made it clear if elected he will destroy Medicare and Social Security and take all of that money and give it to Billionaires as a tax cut while raising taxes on the middle class and forcing people to work until they die because there will be no medicare or Social Security!
Paul Ryan runs circles around that buffoon, Joe Biden. Biden wouldn't know a balanced budget if it came up and bit him in the ass.
Paul Ryan is a great steward of the public's funds who will be a fantastic Vice-President and is very capable of stepping into the presidency, if required.

The Romney/Ryan/Strickland budget will destroy medicare, open the door to destruction of your social security, will raise taxes on the middle class, explode the cost of college and will cut taxes for billionaires. Easy to stop this however, vote Obama and kick out all Republicans!

Hi. I'm Randy Nemecek who is currently running for the City Council in conservative Simi Valley. I believe I'm the ONLY Democrat on the ballot this year. There's a reason for that. I know David Atkins personally and think he is intelligent and an outstanding writer. But I would like you to ask him why he labels other Democrats who have centrist views on many issues as "THAT KIND OF DEMOCRAT". David acts so worldly, but seems blindly unaware that there are entire states (like Ohio where I'm originally from) where most, if not all, registered Democrats are EVEN MORE CONSERVATIVE than Republicans are in California. He is not going to be successful by alienating the very people he needs the most, e.g. qualified candidates for public office that don't want to have anything to do with his brand of left-wing extremist views. Highly-successful people who know that 'debt' is a four letter word are not villians. We recognize that governments, as well as people, cannot keep spending more money than they receive as revenue.

Calling Atkins blindly unaware is being generous. Everyone but the left wing nuts call him far worse. Your best bet is to do what all sane Democrats running for office do in the county. Ignore him and his little band of sheep, and watch them run right off the cliff.
Yesterday news broke that a delegation of GOP congressman lead by Yoder defiled the Holy Land last year when they swam nude in the Sea of Galilee where Jesus Christ walked on water. After a night of drinking (and some accounts say drug use) they plunged into the sacred waters and defiled a holy site of Christianity!
