Debate games

Why do incumbents play obvious and boring games with debating their opponents? I do not care what party the politician is this tactic is disrespectful to democracy. Senator Diane Feinstein is currently avoiding debating her opponent. Rep. Buck McKeon is also playing these games with his opponent.

We should make sure politicians , regardless of party, get the bad press they deserve if they avoid debating.

Debate is an integral part of our political process. All candidates should be willing to engage in proper debate. Candidates should also refrain from mudslinging and once elected actually try to live up to their campaign promises.

They should but they don't because incumbents always have the advantage of name recognition, as well as favors they have done for their constiuents as part of their service to community. It is a part of their strategy not to show up and open the door to comparison or criticism.

I know it makes sense to them. But as voters we should make it cost them support. Thanks for reading and commenting on my blog.
