( Candidates endorsed by the VCDCC)
Ventura City Council candidates run in off year elections. Some argue this allows voters to be better informed as they are not as distracted by state and federal elections. Others argue that having elections with lower voter turnout is not good for a democracy.
Ventura is in interesting city. Although there are more registered Democrats the local Republicans have been able to elect a few council members also. I wonder if this is due in part to having off year elections.
What do you think? Would you prefer if your city had off year elections? It helps to keep the local consultants employed.
