I went to the Simi Valley School Board meeting tonight to support fixing the calendar. Also on the agenda was the budget. The meeting got heated at moments and it was a standing room only crowd.
The big surprise was Dan White calling for the immediate removal of the superintendent. I am not sure if he has the support of any other school board members. Debbie Sandland and Rob Collins spoke out strongly against it. The other two did not address the issue directly enough to know their thoughts.

I am home from the meeting. The Paul Harvey Super Bowl ad makes sense for the people that will be at the meeting late tonight.
After each election there are a few signs that people forget to remove. I post them here to remind people to remove their signs and because it is fun. It is not our duty to go and remove any signs we see for you. These signs are from the 2012 election.
Send in your pictures and I will post them. I will give you credit for your picture if you ask.
This home often keeps up their signs long after an election.
Simi Valley City Council candidate Mark Littleton cleaned up most of his signs. This one by the mall escaped his efforts.
Do you have pictures of old signs that have not been removed? Email them to me and I will post them.
There will be a candidates forum for Simi Valley School Board hosted by the PTSA Monday October 15th from 6:30PM to 9:30PM at Simi Valley City Hall.
Do you plan to attend? What questions would you like answered?

Which three candidates are you supporting for Simi Valley School Board?
I am supporting Dan White. He understands technology issues and he has proven his commitment by his involvement with the Simi Valley Education Foundation. Who has earned your support?
You can post a comment explaining who you support. You do not need to register to comment but keep it classy.
The Simi Valley Fair and Music Festival is this weekend. The fair this year is bigger than in the past. This is a great opportunity for candidates to meet people. The parade was this morning and had many politicians in it.
You can post pictures on the Facebook page for my blog. The best pictures I will post on this page. The debates there are usually better because it is not anonymous.
The Simi Valley teachers union was there to support their endorsed candidates. They also support Proposition 30 and are against Proposition 32. What do you think of the propositions?

Please send in pictures I should post.
UPDATE: Leroy Leyba answered many questions. He said he is done for the night. He will send me the answers to the last few questions in the next few days. Thanks for your time Leroy. I appreciate you answering questions.
This Thursday night Simi Valley School Board candidate Leroy Leyba will be taking questions from readers and myself from 7PM to 9PM. This is your chance to provide input and ask questions of a School Board candidate.
I have spoken to Leroy Leyba a few times and I think he is a promising candidate. I will be asking to interview all of the candidates for Simi Valley School Board.
I am interviewing candidates for many positions in Ventura County. This is the most dedicated blog to local campaigns in Ventura County. Send me a message to be interviewed. I will interview candidates for Park Board, School Board, City Council, and more.
The three incumbents up for election on the Simi Valley School Board have yet to declare their intentions. I am wondering why they are hesitating to declare again?
So far four challengers have picked up paperwork to run for the three seats.
If you are running for office in Ventura County and would like to be interviewed send me a message.
There are three seats on the School Board for Simi Valley Unified School District up for election. All three of them are held by incumbents but none of the incumbents have announced their plans. Josie Hirsch ran in the last election and is running again. She is the first candidate to declare she is running.
Recently I started to notice campaign ads appearing for her on Facebook. Here is one example:

I like the ad. It is simple and has a provocative question. I am interested in how effective these ads have been. I am not sure why the ads are show up for people that have already clicked like on her page as that seems like a waste. I click like on many local campaigns to follow them. She currently has 75 likes. Check back and see how the campaign grows.

I will be interviewing many candidates for local office including city councils and school boards. If you are interested in being interviewed send me an email.
If you see Facebook ads for other candidates in Ventura County send me a screenshot.
School Board candidate Josie Hirsch recently posted this in a Facebook group titled Simi Valley letters to the Editor.

Simi Valley School Board candidate Josie Hirsch (R) is getting an early start on campaigning. With her experiences from her last campaign and her eager campaigning I think she has a much better chance this time.
The big question is who will all of the candidates be? I am hoping another challenger enters the campaign. I have someone in mind that has considered it and would be a great school board member.
I will post more on the other candidates , including the incumbents, when they announce if they are running again.

Josie Hirsch,
Do you support the Governor's proposals for an initiative to help school funding? I'll post your reply on the front page.
Simi Valley School Board candidate Josie Hirsch donated to help my fundraising drive for the Simi Valley education Foundation. The SVEF runs great programs for local schools including a grant program available to all SVUSD teachers.
If you like at least a little of what you read here please consider it a form of tipping to donate to our local schools. I will recognize candidates that donate with an entry on my blog. I won't say how much you donated unless you request that I include that information. So for as little as $5 you can get some publicity for your campaign.
I interviewed Josie Hirsch about her qualifications and plans for the district last week on my blog. Read through the interview and let me know what you think. Thank you Josie for helping me raise money for local schools. I teach at Royal High School and I can tell you the grants are very valuable resources in our classroom. A teacher applied for a grant for a class set of books called "The World That Trade Created" that I use in my classroom frequently.

On Thursday nights I interview candidates running for office in Ventura County. From Harbor Commissioner to park board, no position is too small for me to interview. Send me an email if you are interested. Candidates get coverage on the most read political blog dedicated to Ventura County politics.
Tonight I am interviewing Josie Hirsch about her campaign for the Simi Valley School Board. I will be asking her about education reform, the school board's priorities, and how she decided to run for school board.
Full Disclosure: I am volunteering for my friend Arleigh Kidd who is also one of the candidates running for the two available seats.
Josie,
