Share: Share on Facebook submit to reddit StumbleUpon Toolbar

I have more videos and pictures to post later this week. If you have videos of pictures from today you want posted send them to me.

Former State Assembly candidate Ferial Masry has news regarding her intentions:

Candidate for Sheriff Geoff Dean (R) worked the crowd. Here he is speaking to Ventura City Council Members Brian Brennan and Ed Summers. I expect Geoff Dean's list of endorsements will be updated with new bipartisan additions soon.

I ran into a friend of this blog Denis O'Leary of Oxnard. Denis has been a long time activist for a variety of progressive causes.

State Assembly candidate Susan Jordan gave a speech that outlined her life story and the causes she supports. Her opponent Das Williams was there too. I will post his picture later. Das, if you have pictures from today you want posted send them in.

Here are a bunch of polls related to the labor day picnic and candidates that were there.

Local Barack Obama Organizer Remembers His Top Campaign Moments

Share: Share on Facebook submit to reddit StumbleUpon Toolbar

Jay Kapitz is a local Democratic volunteer and campaign organizer. If you are thinking of running for local, state, or a federal office I would suggest you talk to him and other party activists early to get their support. I know Jay is tireless and dedicated to Democratic causes.

Click on continue reading to see a summary of some top moments for him in this past campaign.

I am frustrated when Democratic campaigns don't inspire local activists by challenging, engaging, inspiring, and working with them. It would be wise to get Jay's ideas on how to run a local grassroots campaign.

A local supporter of Barack Obama has had their campaign signed vandalized again. But instead of intimidating their opponents they are only causing us to organize even more.

Go to my personal Barack Obama fundraising page and let's show them that the more they attack us the more money we are going to raise. Click here to see my fundraising page.

To help without donating leave a comment with a pledge to work at a phonebank locally in the next few weeks. Not everyone at a phonebank needs to make calls. The campaign needs help with paperwork, entering data, and keeping everything running. Go to

I attended a phonebank today in Simi Valley today organized by local volunteers. I would guess about 20 people came and went during the hours we were calling. If you are interested in helping the campaign locally send me an email.

The County of Ventura is expecting a huge turnout for this election. Local Barack Obama volunteer and delegate Sandy Emberland wrote up a report of the local Barack Obama campaign's meeting with the county elections officials to find out more about the preparations. Ventura County Fair politics

I am done trying to come up with a better title. If you have a better title leave a suggestion as a comment and I will fix it.

The Barack Obama card board stand up in front of the Democrats' booth at the Ventura County Fair was ripped up by a man yelling profanities including a racial slur. Click on continue reading for details.

In 2004, the George W. Bush stand up at the Republican Party's Headquarters was stolen by someone that ran out with it. I don't recall fi they ever got it back but if I remember correctly the thief took it back to the San Fernando Valley where the police didn't do much for such a petty offense.

Read through the comments on Dailykos about this story. An keep your cardboard stand ups safe!

Sandy, do you have signs and bumper stickers for Barack Obama at the booth?

I called Rep. Gallegly's office to find out when his next public event was but they don't have a schedule. They did say he was attending the fair sometimes but didn't say when. If you go to the fair you might get lucky enough to ask a question.

Are there any other candidates at the fair?

Meeting Of Barack Obama Supporters Draws Large Crowd

( A local Barack Obama supporter with local Barack Obama organizer Sandy Emberland. He said he bought the shirt at Urban Outfitters I think.)

I attended an organizational meeting of Barack Obama supporters tonight at the UFCW Union Hall in Camarillo. By my count there was about one hundred supporters there from across the 24th congressional district and beyond.

The focus of the meeting was to train volunteers to register voters and to organize voter registration events. If you are interested in getting involved you can leave your name and email address here as a comment or you can go to the campaign's website and search for local events to help with.

The Ventura County Fair is coming up and the Barack Obama supporters have many plans to make it exciting for this year. They are looking for a few more volunteers to work in the booth if you are interested.

The amount and intensity of volunteers this long before the election is inspiring. The only local John McCain news I have to share is that there is a high priced fundraiser in Los Angeles in late August. If you see anything from local John McCain supporters let me know.

I have heard that Republicans are out there registering voters. Has anyone seen this recently? If you do send in photos to post.

Thanks to the great volunteers who organized this event. I am looking forward to reports from the fair.

Sandy, will you email me some photos of the registration events your group is running?

Ventura County Democratic Central Committee Elections

This Tuesday party members not only vote in their primaries but we also vote for the leaders of our local party.

The group above is running as a team to represent Democrats on the central committee. To read the list of all the candidates click here.

If you are planning to vote in this contest what questions do you have for the candidates?

If you are running for a seat on your central committee send in a statement and I will post it.

My first question:

Do you believe Hillary Clinton should drop out or take it to the convention if she is behind in total delegates next week?

It looks like McCain has a youtube problem. Celebrating your birthday during Katrina? Forgetting what you said? Getting corrected by Lieberman? Against/for Bush's tax cuts? The economy is worse/better? Baghdad is safe? He is doing a poor job of energizing creative web users.

In an effort to moveon past the primaries local Barack Obama supporters are announcing their organizational meetings and plans for this summer.

Click on continue reading for details.

How come no Hillary Clinton or John McCain supporter is announcing any local events?

Where is the Myspace, Meet Up, or other websites for them? I have seen a couple start some effort but not really put something out there.

Barack Obama team wants to win all across the United States of America. It is tough to do from a campaign HQ but much easier when you inspire people to rise up to take control over the government again.

This might have a powerful impact on other campaigns. Democrats will be coordinating resources to GOTV and amplify their message. Republicans will be lead by the Strickland campaign. Tony has been a very effective campaigning in the past but a GOTV by one candidate might be really tough. Maybe Tony and Elton will team up.

If your group has events coming up email me the details.

( News from the largest Barack Obama campaign rally yet. About 75,000 people gathered to hear him speak.)

The Barack Obama Campaign has become a movement. Between the massive online fund raising and record setting crowds it is a juggernaut.

Locally it is the only campaign organizing in Ventura County. Unless the other campaigns are not visible. But running a campaign in secret isn't a great plan.

Here is the link for the Barack Obama for Ventura County Myspace group.

Click on continue reading to see the latest events that Delegate Sandy Emberland is putting together.

I haven't seen any local Hillary Clinton news. Most Democrats realize the campaign is over and Barack Obama has won. Will John McCain make the same mistake and try to run an "experience" campaign?

On the Republican side John McCain is meeting with three potential VP candidates this weekend.

The three include:

1. Mitt Romney
2. Bobby Jindal
3. Charlie Christ

I wonder why, even after stopping Mitt Romney, this man wasn't included:

Do you think Mike Huckabee is being considered by John McCain's team?

Who do you think each candidate should choose as their VP candidate?

I think McCain will pick Mitt Romney if he really wants to win. That choice will help him to end questions about his economic policies.

For Barack Obama I think Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel , Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Gov. Bill Richardson, or Sen. Jim Webb could be good Vice Presidents. They would all also show that how devoted Barack Obama is about a new type of politics.

Democratic State Convention Report by Sandy Emberland

( If you know the people in the picture, please identify them)

Local Democratic Party supporter and Barack Obama delegate Sandy Emberland has written a report about her trip to the state convention.

To read the whole report and ask her questions click on continue reading.

To read her earlier report click here.

Sandy, are the Hillary supporters admitting that Barack Obama will win the nomination? Do they seem ready to support the party's nominee? Do you think this primary has caused a major rift between the different factions?
