State Assembly Member Scott Wilk is holding this event in Simi Valley:

What would you like to see him answer?

He recently helped to organize the California Republican Assembly in Simi Valley. I believe that makes him much more conservative than State Assembly Member Jeff Gorell. What do you think?

Ventura County Republican Assembly

Do you think the Republican Party is too liberal on social issues? The California Republican Party is a conservative faction in the Republican Party. They recently reorganized their Ventura County chapter with the help of State Assembly Member Scott Wilk.

I am interested in their plans to get more involved in Ventura County politics.

What do you think they should do?

What will Democrats do with their Super Majority?

What do you want Democrats to do with their Super Majority in the State Legislature?

I support ethics reforms, initiative reforms, education reform and education funding reform. We also need to address rising prison costs.

This article from Hullabaloo is critical of Democrats from being timid with their super majority. I would like stable budgets that do not require bad deals to get passed.

I am also curious what Republicans like Scott Wilk will be able to do in the State Assembly. Will he be able to put together a group of moderate Democrats and Republicans to influence policy? I doubt it but good luck to him in trying.

Republicans have the ability to alter their agenda to be more appealing to voters. It would be in the best interest of their party and our state for them to do so. If they supported moderate education reforms there are many families they would appeal to. But they might have to drop their support for right wing policies.

Scott Wilk, what will you do to support charter schools and reform protections for bad teachers?

Updated election results. No major changes.

For districts that include multiple counties go to the state website.

In Simi Valley Dan White, Debbie Sandland, and Rob Collins continue to lead in the race for the three seats on the school board.

Josie Hirsch ran a very competitive campaign. She had the support of many Republican elected officials including Buck McKeon, Scott Wilk, Tony Strickland, Barbra Williamson, Glen Becerra, and Mike Judge. The Ventura County Republican Central Committee also supported her.

It would be for the best if she continues to find ways to contribute to the community. She is working on bringing a Renaissance Fair to this area. I am planning on going. It should be a great event.

The three winning candidates did not get support from a political party. Dan White is a Republican. Debbie Sandland and Rob Collins declined the support of the Democratic Party. They could have been included on slate mailers, for free, sent to Democratic households. All three were endorsed by the teachers union. I was on the interview panel that talked with Dan White. I am really excited he will be on the school board. He has shared with me many of his plans for technology. His agenda for fixing how we use technology in Simi Valley schools is shared by teachers.

Take down those old signs! Scott Wilk and Paul Strickland

UPDATE: I drove by on Friday September 9th and this sign remains illegally attached to a traffic sign.

This is my post from August:

UPDATE:Scott Wilk emailed me and wrote he would take care of it personally.

After elections I often post pictures of signs to remind candidates to remove them. In this picture we have a sign from State Assembly candidate Paul Strickland (R) and a sign from State Assembly candidate Scott Wilk (R). This picture was taken Tuesday night at the end of the Topanga Canyon exit on the 118. I posted it on August 7th on the Facebook page for my blog to remind the candidates to remove their old signs.

Campaigns are not allowed to attach signs to traffic signs. I am surprised that Caltrans has not either removed the sign or asked Scott Wilk to remove the sign posted on a traffic sign. Caltrans actually can remove signs posted in violation of State law and send a bill to the campaign.

This is among the worst offenders of an old sign posted that I have seen. It is posted in violation of Caltrans rules and it has been up for a long time. It is also in an area of very high traffic. How is it posible the campaign has not seen it? Do they not campaign in that area at all? It should not have taken this long. Actually, it should not have been there in the first place!

Sometimes supporters without permission post signs. But in this case they have had a very long time to remove this sign.

Scott Wilk, take down that old sign!

I respect candidates that are willing to appear together and discuss the differences in their beliefs. I am glad that Scott Wilk (R) and Edward Headington (D) did this event.

Is there a plan for them to debate in Simi Valley?

State Assembly Candidate Edward Headington Endorsed by Richard Riordan

(Richard Riordan and Edward Headington)

State Assembly candidate Edward Headington (D) is spreading the news that he has been endorsed by former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan. His claim is that this shows he has significant bipartisan support and will be able to earn votes from decline to state and Republican voters.

He is running against Scott Wilk (R) in the 38th State Assembly District. The seat is currenty held by Cameron Smyth (R). Many pundits consider it a Republican seat. But if Edward Headington continues to earn bipartisan support he might be able to attract attention to this race.

What do you think? You don't need to register or to use your real name to comment. Please keep it classy.

Scott Wilk,

Who is your most important supporter that is a registered Democrat? I will post your response on the front page. Working with people in both parties will be important to make progress in California.

Bipartisan anger at Buck McKeon's position on a local issue

Share: Share on Facebook submit to reddit StumbleUpon Toolbar

Democrats and Republicans have been critical of Buck McKeon because of his position on the Cemex mine proposal. The Republican controlled Santa Clarita City council voted 5-0 asking him to take action again. For a senior Member of Congress it is surprising that he could not get something done on this issue if he felt strongly.

In the ad above Dr. Lee Rogers goes after Buck Mckeon on this local issue. With criticism also coming from Republicans I am wondering how effective of an issue this could be.

I am not fully educated on this issue. In the interest of fairness please post a comment if you support the Cemex mine project.

The Strickland Name

A blogger that supports Scott Wilk for State Assembly is really concerned that Simi Valley voters will not know that Paul Strickland is not related to Tony Strickland.

Scott Wilk has run a much better campaign in Simi Valley. I wonder if Patricia McKeon's money will overwhelm his campaign.

Grocery bag politics

State Assembly candidate Scott Wilk is promoting reusable bags. I support that idea.

But has he not heard of State Senator Tony Strickland's new fearmongering bill?
