Veterans against the war

| | Comments (0)

I recently read an article posted by the Ventura county star that seemed to try and get sympathy for three " veterans " that have decided to join the local chapter of Veterans against the war. I was dissapointed but not suprised at the very poor attempt at journalism by making obvious the slant of our local press. Two things jumped out at me 1) the term Veterans against the war and 2) the attempt to give credibility to individuals that seem to be nothing more than cowards.

I do not believe there is any Veteran of any war anywhere on this plant that is Pro-War. I can not recall the authors name but is was said best like this " The soldier, above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier that must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war. " and here's one more " for those that have fought for it freedom has a flavor the sheltered will never know."

Soldiers of all races and countries despise war but understand the single most important truth about war, it is enevitable. As said by Plato "Only the dead have seen the end of war." For some insane reason on is either labeled pro or anti war, this is something I shall never understand. I see it like this, there are those that will come to terms with the reality that war must be fought and the best avoid it is to let all potential opponents fear you and know any attempt at attacking the stronger more determined foe is never pick a fight with them. This is the reason so many great centers of culture like Athens and Rome survived for so long. With freedom and liberty comes the need for an Army to protect and shelter the liberals of society, with soldiers liberals are eventually enslaved. History bears me out here.

The other group are those that look down their collective nose's at the very people that provide the liberty and safety of democracy. another unkown author said this " War is and ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded feeling that believes nothing is worth war is much worse. For individual that has nothing he believes is worth fighting for nothing worth dying for is a miserable creature that has no chance of ever being free unless mads so, and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

So why would I stoop so low has to call fellow "Veterans" cowards ? Because they are. the individuals interviewed were bonfied REMF's and volunteered for duty after 9 /11.
But it seems once they realized their REMF mos's ( military occupational skill) would require the to be ever so slightly exposed to adverse conditions they start crying.
