To paraphrase a New York newspaper headline from years ago, "Democrats to California: Go to Hell"
We have a fiscal crisis, caused by Democrat over spending. Instead of cutting, like the addicts they are, they demand another fix, more spending, more taxes.
They do not care how many children and elderly they harm. Obviously they do not care about the vendors they are hurting and the jobs they are killing. Perata, Bass, Nunez and friends are holding the people of California hostage--give us your money or we will harm your elderly, stop the education of your children, let criminals go free.
The Republicans have provided a mechanism, an emergency expenditure bill to pay the needed invoices and agencies. Below is a press release from Senator Jeff Denham explaining what the GOP bill covers.
Oh, you may wonder why the Democrats would refuse to pay the legitimate bills of the State. Easy. If we paid the bills, then the reason for a tax increase would be gone. Democrats need their tax increase fix and nothing will get in their way--even the woman, children and elderly of California.
BTW, I know that Tony Strickland has opposed the tax and spending increase of the Democrats. But his opponent, by her silence, appears to support higher taxes on the poor and middle class. Hannah Jackson seems to be siding with Don Perata, who will be financing her campaign, in trying to drag every dime possible out of the hard working families of Lomoc, Ventura, Thousand Oaks and Santa Barbara. Her lack of support for the families of the Central Coast is deafening.
While Strickland and the Republicans want the State to pay its legitimate bills, Jackson just wants tax increases and bigger government. Strickland would have voted for the emergency payment bill. Jackson would continue to stiff the workers and vendors of the State.
There is a difference in the 19th Senate District.
Here is the explanation of the GOP legislation to pay our bills, a press release from Senator Denham:.
Senate Democrats Block Denham's Fight to Get Emergency Funding for California's Most Vulnerable
Sacramento -- Senate Democrats today voted down an effort by Senator Jeff Denham (R-Merced) to hear Assembly Bill 207 which would have allowed the State to make payments to nursing homes, health clinics and other vital facilities during the budget impasse.
"It is hypocritical for Senate Democrats to talk about the suffering of California's most vulnerable citizens and then play partisan politics and not vote to fund the vital services on which they depend," Denham said.
Specifically, AB 207, authored by Denham, would have provided a $12 billion emergency appropriation to ensure that hospitals and nursing homes received the necessary funding to keep their doors open."
"Healthcare for those in need should not be interrupted while the Legislature is late on passing a balanced budget," said Denham
Ironically, on Friday, Senate Democrat Leader Don Perata claimed to be concerned for those at risk because of the budget stalemate:
"The list is long, characterized in common by innocence, helplessness and anonymity," said Perata. "Special education children, physically-disabled adults, elderly residents in long-term care facilities, rural hospitals, home-to-school transportation, food service to state hospitals and state prisons, financial aid to hundreds of thousands of students at UC and CSU, thousands of small businesses employing thousands of our constituents that supply every community with essentials such as sanitation, cleaning, security and rehabilitation...This is a game of political roulette we will not play."
"Apparently Senator Perata is willing to play political roulette with the most innocent and helpless among us," said Denham.

Day 61 and Republicans STILL have failed to present a detailed line by line list of cuts that total 15 Billion that can be made to the budget to avoid tax increases.
Yesterday they stood up and detailed some cuts THAT TOTAL LESS THAN 50 MILLION!!!
LOL!
I am a 66 yr. old disabled woman and i don't know why we have to suffer until the multi-millionares or billinares or at least far and away better off than us find out how to get us a budget passed. You should have started working on this a long time ago. You knew monumental changes and decisions would have to be made. I'll tell u one thing that would prompt u all: stipulate that until u all pass a budget, you won't get paid, or have health care, or transportation and all the rest of the things that you're depriving us of and see how u like it and how long it would take u to pass a budget.
Sincerely,
Zola Lee
Zola, you are right, we should have a budget, today.
Except the Governor and the Democrats are demanding that YOU pay more taxes, for bigger, incompetent, government.
The Democrats believe you are rich enough to pay the unions a premium wage, while they get donations from the unions to pay for their campaigns.
Democrats want more money for water bonds, not for water, but special interest programs and studies.
The Govenror told you in 2006 we do not need to raise taxes, now he is demanding it.
You have a right to be angry. You expect government to be supportive of the needs of honest people, instead the Democrats prefer spending billions on illegal aliens, crowd our schools and health care system with illegal aliens.
Zola, I presume you will not be voting for those who want to make you poorer, kill the jobs of your relatives and tell you that you can not eat a donut.
And while all that takes place Steve, republicans just sit around and go DUH!!! LOL!
Hannah-Beth Jackson is not in Perata's pocket as you claim. She's in favor of Prop. 11, the redistricting measure, which Perata is fighting tooth and nail.

No one knows what Hannah-Beth Jackson supports or opposes because she has refused to engage the residents of the 19th Senate District in any discussion whatsoever on the issues that are important to them.
Tony Strickland, on the other hand, has made himself available to the voters of this district and has a keen and genuine interest in supporting and promoting those things that are of most interest and value to them including less government, lower taxes, and alternative sources of energy.
GO STRICKLAND!!!
Steve, can you at least try and give your blog some semblance of neutrality?
The point of the blog is honesty.
The truth is seldom neutral. Someone will always be upset with the truth.
If you disagree with my comments, that is what America is all about. You are free to give your views.
In Chicago, the Obama campaign has been trying to stop a talk show guest, Stanley Kurtz, because Kurtz has been discussing Obaama's friends, like the terrorist Ayers, the bigoted Jeremiah Wright and the convicted felon Tony Rezko. (http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/990756/stanley_kurtz_william_ayers_and_barack.html?cat=9)
Do you think Kurtz should not be allowed to discuss this men in reference to Barack Obama?
That is what freedom is all about. Kurtz offered the Obama people equal time--they refused. Instead they wanted the truth about Obama to be silenced.
That is how Cuba operates, or Iran, or China. In the United Sates you are allowed to be heard.
So instead of calling for neutrality, join me in calling for truth.
