Strickland vs. Jackson, the Differences

| | Comments (13)

The Star today had a story today about what may be the biggest race in Ventura County history (even though the 19th Senate district includes portions of Santa Barbara and Los Angeles Counties)

Bias is easy to slip into an article, even without the reporter realizing it.

In this case the article noted the support and relationship of Club for Growth and Tony Strickland. Yet, the article did not note the relationship between the radical Planned Parenthood, Hannah Jacksons legislative support of its multi-million over billing of the California taxpayer, and their support of Jackson. For those who do not know, Planned Parenthood is the largest provider of abortions in the world.

Instead, of talk about organizations, this race needs to be about issues..

Strickland supports lower taxes and less government. Jackson believes in big government and more taxes.

Strickland supports education of the public. Jackson supports monopoly government education.

Strickland wants to keep criminals in prison. Jackson believes that "rehabilitation" is the answer, the legislative Democrats support the immediate release of over 30,000 prisoners, but she won't say if she agrees with Perata, Nunez and Bass on this.

Strickland believes that the law should be enforced in regard to illegal aliens. The political party of Jackson promotes amnesty for illegal aliens and full benefits for them. Why doesn't she join Tony Strickland in supporting the Rule of Law, even if her fellow Democrats don't?

This is not going to be an election about Barack Obama, George Bush, Planned Parenthood or Club for Growth. it is about jobs, freedom and families.

Strickland, by his votes in the Assembly shows he believes that government is the problem, Jackson by her votes in the Assembly shows she believe government is the answer.

What do you believe? Then vote your values and beliefs.

Planned Parenthood is a radical group? That's hilarious. Only about 3% of what they do is abortions. Look at their annual report:

Contraception 38%
Other Services 1%
Abortion Services 3%
Other Women’s Health Services 10%
Cancer Screening and Prevention 19%
Sexually Transmitted Diseases/Infections
(STD/STI) Testing and Treatment 29%

They provide very valuable, low-cost health services for women.

And, yeah, Strickland's Club for Growth is pretty out there. They try to pick off moderate members of their own party and even targeted Huckabee.

Who Strickland really supports is the trio of BIG Oil, Insurance & Tobacco who give him money so he can vote accordingly.

Planned Parenthood Radical? No Steve it just seems radical because of your SUPER RADICAL RIGHT WING point of view.

I have actually met Tony and talked to him one on one for about 30 minutes years ago when he was in the assembly and can assure that he is a clueless airhead. He doesn't even know where he stands on the issues until he look up on the internet the way he is suppose to "think"on an issue as a "conservative" LOL!

As the article in the Star by Timm Herdt pointed out so well, the choice will be very clear in this election. It is between Ms. Left and Mr. Right. With a 50/50 Republican/Democratic voter registration in the district, whoever can convince those sitting on the fence (the DTS's, primarily) that their candidate will serve their interests better will come out on top.

You're right Mongo and we'll see who can get their own Party up and to the polls on Election Day. I'd say as fired up as the Republicans are about the McCain/Palin ticket, it's looking good for all the Republicans running!

If only Strickland were actually a conservative were actually a conservative I could vote for him. But he has been a union whore, supported illegal aliens and has voted for higher taxes. He's no conservative.

Video of the Jackson Strickland debate will be available on PoliticalwatchCentralCoast.org tomorrow.

To ANYONE who thinks that Tony Strickland is NOT devoted to the Merit Shop (non-union), Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. has endorsed Tony for the seat. That would not be happening if we did not believe he was devoted to our cause.

And if he screws us over after he is elected...

To the person who does not think Tony Strickland is conservative:

Please re-read your comments. Then, immediately go to the emergency ward of the local hospital, seems like your meds have caused you mental dysfunction. It can be corrected.

Planned Parenthood are THIEVES! They steal money from the state and us taxpayers by overcharging and then have Jackson support them says to me that they are radical...A RADICAL BAND OF THIEVES.

jw1-think we got it...you've stated it now in a few different topics..."talked to him...name calling...blah blah blah. Seriously did it take 30 minutes to take his order?

Steve,

Have you ever actually held a discussion with Tony for 30 minutes ? I have. He didn't even know what Prop 13 was until I told him.

Damien Cooper: Keep drinking Kool-Aid by the 55 gal drum. Right wingers IQ just seems to drop and drop with every day they get their "news" from Rush Limbaugh. No "I didn't take his order". I ran into Tony while I was eating in the Camarillo Outlets food court several years ago while he was in the Assembly. Back then I was a Republican and had voted for him.

This is a serious blog, about serious politics and policy.

When I first met Tony, before he was an Assemblyman, I asked him about several issues (when I first met a potential candidate I have a series of issues to ask about, to understand how much they know and where they stand on these issues)including Prop. 13.

Of course he knew about about it and his position was keeping it as is, as well as a concern about making it two tiered--one rate for homeowners and an unlimited rate for commercial properties. At that time he understood that the Democrats would kill our economy if they allowed unlimited tax increases on commercial property.

If you are going to write something, make it true and real, not a fairy tale to make you look good in the eyes of others.

Steve, if you drive, breath, eat, fly (in an airplane), hike, bathe, use the internet (ha, gotcha there!), are not being pan-handled by droves of older people on the street, go to the library, etc. etc. etc., then you, my friend, are the beneficiary of BIG government. Welcome to the real world.
