Guantanamo detainees

Okay, i know some will say these are terrorists who deserve anything they get, but the government hastily rounded up as many suspects as they could following 9-11 and have left them, uncharged, for years... not that the federal government has EVER been known to make a mistake.

I disagree...they DO NOT deserve the same rights as American citizens. Don't know where you are coming from? How about we give them the same rights afforded to American Citizens in their country.....? Fair is fair.
My point is, the government rushed to round up a bunch of suspects and threw them in jail well over four years ago... and left them without charging them with anything. If anybody was thrown in there by MISTAKE, they have no recourse at all... i think we should at least move forward with charges, in case anybody falls into the latter situation, so that our legal process moves forward as intended and terrorists are processed and sentenced, and non-terrorists are processed and released if they pose no threat.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
No mention of citizenship requirements or place of birth. No mention of the rights being bestowed by congress, or even the constitution.

Am I misunderstanding your intent? Do you really believe the detainees at Gitmo deserve due process, rights to a fair & speedy trial, American rights & liberties? If you do, I fail to understand why.
