Arnold and language

Gov. Schwarzenegger lectured a group of Hispanic journalists about the need for Hispanics to turn off Spanish-language media and concentrate on speaking English. However, he didn't seem to have much objection to making use of Spanish-language media to run for reelection and push for legislation he wanted.

Plundering

For years, the California Controller's office has been seizing "inactive" bank accounts and other assets of taxpayers and putting the money into the state's general fund. Supposedly notice is given in advance, or a search for the owner is made to warn them the assets will be seized if no action is taken, but the state has found it very lucrative to make the notification as minimal as possible, to grab as much as possible.
