The Petraeus report

The long-awaited report by the top U.S. commander in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus, was largely a stay-the-course, things-could-be-worse report, with no real call for any troop withdrawals before summer 2008, and those mostly limited to the ones added by the "surge" from earlier this year.

The success they are talking about is in a portion of Iraq that at best holds 10% of the population.

And our success seems to be only by virtue of force, while we're there in a given place. If our troops move elsewhere, then wherever we vacate is likely to return to chaos.
Posted by: Steve Greenberg at September 17, 2007 9:09 AMAnd, now Bush wants us to stay in Iraq forever...citing Korea, an area where we are still at war (technically).
I've said it before, and I'll say it again:
Bush's exit strategy is to retire to his Crawford, Texas Ranch and leave the dirty work (Iraq and bin Laden) to his succesor. It's a shame that he does have enough veto-sustaining votes in Congress to succeed.

And, once again, we Americans are asked to wait 6 more months. Always 6 more months.
