Black hole

qqxsgIraqHole.jpg

The cost of the war in Iraq depends on various factors and is subject to some interpretation (e.g., is rehab for wounded vets part of the total?); the National Priorities project estimates the cost thus far as upwards of $495.4 billion, and estimates from the Congressional Joint Economic Committee (cited in this cartoon) and in The New York Times project a total of $1.2 to $1.3 trillion -- and counting.

Send the bill to George Bush and Richard Cheney. It's their War of Occupation. They should pay for it. Since they have squandered my grandchildren's economic future, they should be made to pay up first.
Send additional charges to Halliburton. Make them return the monies received for 'no-bid' contracts that resulted in not completed work.
Have Blackwater pay restitution to the Iraqi victims of their unregulated violence.
Then, sieze the assets of Osama bin Laden (from Saudi Arabia) and the Taliban (from Afganistan). Make them pay for the War on Terror.

Garnish the various federal pensions of Bush and Cheney, 'Rummy' Rumsfeld, Condi Rice, Wolfowitz, and the rest of the Bush/Cheney Regime to pay for the continuation of the US Occupation of Iraq.

But you know darn well who will be paying for this. And for generations.

How much do you think it is worth to prevent another 9-11 type attack on America?

There aren't too many people who feel the war in Iraq has granted us protection from another 9-11 attack. In fact, the war has been a very powerful recruiting tool for Al-Qaida to enlist legions of new anti-American terrorists.

If we spend $100 trillion in Iraq, we will be no more safe from another al Qaeda attack than we were in August 2001. Iraq did not attack New York, Washington DC, or Pennsylvania.
We had bin Laden on the run, until March 2003, when the Bush/Cheney Regime abandoned Afganistan to go after the impotent Saddam Hussein. Had Bush been truely concerned about another 9-11, he would have stayed in Tora Bora, and finished the job. THAT is what the Generals on the ground were telling him. He did not listen.
