Honors in national competition

I was named one of two honorable mention winners in the 2008 John Fischetti Editorial Cartoon Competition, sponsored by the Columbia College Chicago Department of Journalism and named for the late cartoonist of the Chicago Daily News and Chicago Sun Times.

Winner of the competition was Michael Ramirez, formerly of the Los Angeles Times and now of Investors Business Daily. The other honorable mention went to Tony Auth of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Both are Pulitzer Prize winners. There were 171 cartoons submitted by 56 cartoonists. The winner gets a $3,000 prize; Auth and I will receive a $1,000 prize. My winning cartoon is posted below.
