Coastal drilling

Drilling for more oil off the coast, beyond the potential environmental impact, the many-year wait for results and the fact it would only slightly affect our oil supply, still leaves us where we are now: dependent on burning fossil fuels and adding to the greenhouse gases that are warming the planet at an alarming rate.

Um, but do we really want to be burning more sulphuric gas here?
Posted by: Steve Greenberg at July 25, 2008 2:50 PMThen, leave it in the ground. And, leave ANWR alone...permanently.
But, if we must use oil...and, right now, we must...there are methods aleady being applied to scrub sulphur out. These methods need only be utilized in the most efficient way possible.

The EPA will not allow California to use oil drilled in California...too high sulphur content. We export our oil to Japan, and import our oil from Mexico.
Posted by: Shaver One at July 25, 2008 6:59 AMIF the EPA should allow California to use our own oil...and IF the GOPers should allow the passage of a bill stating that all oil drilled in the US be used IN THE US FIRST, I might be more in favor of off-shore drilling. But, if our domestic oil is to go on the open market for export to China, or India, I say:
"Keep it in the ground."
