Global Warming summit

Leaders of the world's leading industrialized nations, the G-8, met in Japan to deal with global warming. What emerged was a weak, nonbinding pledge to cut greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2050, more than 40 years off. Said a spokesman for one leading environmental organization, "At this rate, by 2050 the world will be cooked and the G-8 leaders will be long forgotten."
