It's Here - The New PT Uniform

Have you noticed the sign above the NEX? The new PT Uniform is here. I have often wondered about the Navy's Physical Training philosophy. For instance, with the new emphasis on fitness why isn't their a fleet-wide PT program? Why doesn't each command have a PT program to support and maintain physical readiness?

Ok, enough about PT - the new uniform is the topic of this blog. My hubby came home with his one and only set of the new PT uniform It seems there aren't enough uniforms to go around so sailors can purchase only one set till further notice (I guess I should be glad there isn't a PT program in place...I'd have to wash that thing everyday).

And speaking of washing - my Sailor informed me that the salesperson at the NEX was EMPHATIC that this wonderful (and should I mention creative) uniform cannot withstand fabric softener. That's right, evidently this new fabric, which quickly dispells sweat, is ruined by fabric softener, both liquid and sheets.

Under Armour, Nike and others have been able to manufacture said fabrics but not the Navy? I wonder if the ship's laundry has been informed and is making provision to wash all PT uniforms separately?

Well, when the Navy pays for special laundering of these uniforms I'll run a separate load...till then - my husband can be easily identified - he's the one with the sweaty uniform...LOL!

Your turn...Sound off...
